New head meshes in Blender?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:04 am

I am pretty sure, that I am not the first person asking this. I would like to create new / change head meshes for Morrowind, but I can't seem to find any real tutorial covering the topic, with all what is needed including animations. Thank you in advance.

By the way, searching the forums didn't help me either.

Yeah, I'm looking into this too. I think I remember something about it a long time ago, and at the time you had to have 3DS Max. Hopefully things have changed, because I have Blender 3D. I haven't really understood why no head meshes have been made that are.. higher quality lol. but maybe nobody really knows how to do it.

its really hard to do, I have been blending for 1 and a half years and I still cant do organic things too well, also you really need to know about texturing for it, there are reasons people get paid like 3000$ per model, its really hard

Well, I would like to start with tweaking some of the existing heads for now. And also the animations, since they are extremely stiff and a tiny change could do a lot here. Adding more choices to the beast races is also worth a try, I think. I have the tutorial for Max, but that one doesn't really help me in Blender. :(

I really hope somebody who has done this in the past, in either Max or Blender, comes by to help. I think that's the #1 thing lacking from Morrowind now, is different head meshes. (and obviously animations)

It looks like it's time for me to bother the master makers with some PMs. I really wanted to avoid this though, since I really hate to be a bother. Let's hope that some combined wits will get us further. I still don't want to give up the idea of somebody capable stoping by and answering the question at hand - Can it be done and how?

I've seen new beast head meshes show up on the "show us what you're working on thread" a number of times. A good way to make head meshes is to take two pictures from the front and side of someones head and then set them as background images in blender.

Making the actual Mesh isn't the problem, the heads have to be exported with certain things i thought? I believe you have the animate the face, or something... I can't remember honestly, but I remember it wasn't as simple as making a head mesh and exporting it, naming it "head" and using it in the CS.

I can help if anyone's still interested. But for the most part the Max tutorials will work as long as you know of the equivalent functions in blender. They were what I had to use too
