New hub update - The Sounds of Skyrim

Post » Thu Feb 03, 2011 3:54 am

Anybody else notice that at the start of the first video (~18s in), Lampert's PC background is a landscape screenshot?

Those fog effects/ trees look ridiculously awesome.

I wouldn't be so sure thats a screen.

After lots of crashes, going through Game informer hell, and having pulled all my hair out I finally managed to watch all videos.

Frankly I'm too frustrated to enjoy it anymore. :sadvaultboy:

It's funny how Lampert said that no matter how many times you hear the main theme you still get goosebumps, I can't deny I most certainly did. This new rendition sounds amazing and I can only hear so little, what a tease!
Judging by how Todd Howard mentioned Dwemer ruins in mountain cliffs and now the look at a Dwemer centurion sphere it looks like the Dwemer will perhaps have some kind of role in the game, which is great as I loved how they were in Morrowind.
Finally, Jeremy Soule has been confirmed as the composer!

Just finished the last video...DEAR GOD I WANT THAT SONG. I'd actually really like to have the a cappella version too, that sounded pretty cool.

Well it was kind've obvious that Dwemer Centurions were going to return since there are Dwemer ruins confirmed in Skyrim.

I can only watch like 2 minutes of the first video, but what's in there is really great.
I mean, Centurion Spheres! You gotta be kidding me. Next you tell me you put crossbows and spears back in as well.

Of course, Mark Lampert (and his team?) deserve lots of credit as well. Those sounds so far seem to be very well-picked, and the statement that everything will sound creaky and rough... I can hardly wait. Those were exactly the sounds that gave Morrowind such an atmospheric boost (even though other sounds were horrible in that game).

Is the theme we will hear in the overworld while we travel the landscape? And what's a dwemer sphere?

Interesting and great videos. :)
Now it's officially said that Morrowind's theme is the Elder Scrolls theme.
Dwemer centurions are in! I'm getting more and more exited for this game!

Mark's absolutely right. I still get goosebumps listening to the main title. I think it's Soule's best work. I fire it up once a week or so to get inspired :)

The more I see/read about this game the more excited I get.

I get serious goosebumps when I hear the theme for Skyrim... I'm going to have to try really hard to not cry when I finally get to load the game up for the first time

For everyone having problems you need to update adobe flash player.

Ehh, its okay, I think they should be a bit more gravely and deep.

I'm thinking Michael Dorn would be perfect especially because of his experience speaking Klingon. I think he could do the Draconian very well.

but looks like they are trying to raise the bar!

They are always trying to raise the bar it's their success in doing so that has come into question on occasion.

Anyone notice that that centurion seems to be a cross between the originals and the Tribunal ones with the darts? It seems to have a crossbow on one arm.

I thought dwemer were extinct? Is this the theme we will here while traversing skyrim? The overworld theme?

Dwemer may be extinct, but their steampunk robots are not.

Remember Todd said in one of his videos that the cities of Skyrim were built on top of old Dwemer ruins.

And Redguard

Hmm... thinking about it, we may not only have Dwemer ruins on the east side, but also the west side, won't we?

I hope the Dwemer ruins feel like Morrowind. I want a blast of nostalgia when I walk into them, and not just from the monsters.

They are, but some of their creations remain very much... Well, not alive, but certainly active.

That's the main theme of Skyrim. It's very well possible we won't be hearing it in normal gameplay, as is the case with Oblivion's "Reign of the Septims". We'll be hearing a lot of different music while we're traversing Skyrim, same way we did in Oblivion and Morrowind.
