Ted Williams for the dragons!

I kid, I kid.

I'll see your Ted Williams and raise you a Paul Ruebens.

Tingles for the theme? Man, I was getting more than tingles... :P

Seriously though, this looks awesome. And it confirmed my belief that the Dwemer were making their triumphant return :D

You guys are reading way too much into the comments about "the dying stuff"... do not get your hopes up based off assumptions from vague comments.

About Max Von Sydow: "He enjoyed reading all the fighting and dying stuff at the end, too, which every character does in our game..."

Does this mean killable essentials, or does he just die as part of the plot?

Killable essentials, he actually explained that afterwards:

"the player can betray him..."

And I already pointed out elsewhere on this forum that questgivers were killable from the GI article.

It seems like a lot of people are thinking about dragon voices like, "Hmm, we need to find one famous guy'. But I'm not sure that would work out, I mean, I'm just making assumptions, but perhaps more than one dragon would talk to you in-game? It would be nice to have several different voice actors. Maybe one famous actor for Alduin or something, though.

Were only using famous people because we don't know any un-famous people with voices that will work, because...they're not famous, so we don't know what they sound like.

Right, but minor questgivers (or at least people who were neccessary to quests) weren't essential in Oblivion, either. It still wasn't certain that all questgivers were killable.

So, there's dragon shouts for each race and gender. So that's 20 different dragon shouts times 10 for each race, then times 2 for both genders, and that makes 400 different voices for the dragon shouts. :P

Some dragon shouts will probably use words from other shouts.

It just looks like a robot standing up with it's legs attached to a ball. Whatever, I'll still buy the game. I guess.

Hahaha oh my god!! This is actually getting too funny now. Man yeah the Centurion design was a real selling point for me too.

Thanks a lot for this :foodndrink:

Now... not to take away anything from what you did. I was waiting for someone to do this.. and it's great you did. I just want to say I don't believe the followup to what we saw in GI hub will be exaclty the choir of the teaser. It seems to set itself up for something a bit different IMO (although not very different. Still a variation).

Something like this would be a cool voice for dragons.

The new theme is awesome. I love it in ways that are not healthy. That choir was perfect, and the feel of the music is a mix of nostalgia and icy mountain dragon punching adventure.

And I think everything else is in good hands. Beth's resident Emperor of Sound seems like the right person for the job.

Not necessarily. You might just be able to attack him in which case he would have to have some dialogue along the lines of "What are doing", "Ok then have a piece" etc.

We will see

Anyone else just listening to the videos over and over, especially video 4?

Yes.

Mark Lampert seems like the perfect guy for the job, and I appreciate him going out hiking in the good 'ol mountains (where most of my relatives live) to record some sounds to really capture that realism. While Fallout needed less work in this sense, his push for a natural sound is really going to make that final product awesome. By the way, I had goosebumps when he started talking about recording the shouts and dragon voices, CANNOT WAIT to hear what a dragon sounds like in the elder scrolls lore (tell you this know, it ain't no Sean Connery) That and...well...the game sounds awesome.

And that theme?

...do I really need to convey the awesomeness of that theme? Here's a hint: got out of my chair and couldn't sit down for a while. My legs were shaking. (guess you'd call that a nerdgasm)

What I love about the theme is that it has that epic rendition of the elder scrolls theme and just goes RIGHT into the chorus for Skyrim (which we saw in the cinematic).

(and a bit of an obvious easter egg: Techno Viking and One Eye from Valhalla Rising on a page of that songbook)

Heck Yeah! :mohawk:

Really enjoyed the video, love hearing about how the sounds and voicing is done - very professional. It reminded me of an old video clip when ILM was searching for sounds for the Blasters in Star Wars IV (first movie), they shared similar anecdotes on how they gathered sound in the wild and tweaked it up in the studio.

Theme song trailer was fantabulous!

Fun stuff!

I think Steven Barr has a voice suitable for dragons, he played Wrex in Mass Effect, or Keith Szarabajka who voiced Harbinger in Mass Effect 2. You can Harbinger`s voice here.
