New Idea For Brink

Post » Mon Dec 13, 2010 5:57 am

A game mode where you can make your own curse for free running
something where you could just make your own maps and stuff like that

i agree with the first part, not so much the second. when you say set a course do you mean get from point A to B or follow checkpoints and stuff? kinda like ACB's way of virtual training. as for creating your own maps... i have to disagree with you

Creating your own maps? I disagree, lets leave the custom maps for FarCry and Halo, or any other game except for Brink. The first part seems like a good idea though.

I would love for a game mode, where you set your own markers down, and then you make like a timed trail run going through your markers/checkpoints and the first one to the end wins. But designing your own maps? No, i dont think so, plus its obviously too late for that.

I feel custom maps would be very difficult to pull off in this game, especialy since its team objective based. How would you make all the events? I feel it would turn out far to generic to be all I would hope it to be. If they ever come up with a way to make diverse and well made maps that can hold a good objective based game then more power to them, it extends the games life. If they cant however then theres no point.

I'd love to see a good map-editor like the one Crysis had.

A Mirror's Edge gamemode doesn't sound that seductive in comparison.

YES TO THE MAPMAKER! I adore any and all mapmakers or any level maker at all. If a game has it, it's all I do.

This sounds like little big planet. I want a map maker/SDK, but not specific for freerunning. I agree with oddworld, just place markers on existing maps and set a time.

@gkrewz: it's not all that difficult to make team objective based maps, atleast not with a decent SDK. W:ET had a huge number of custom maps and was also objective based. The only difficult thing is to make a map fun and balanced.

That would be AWESOME
but i think the S.M.A.R.T button should be disabled during these runs,
otherwise you could just hold it down to do all the work for you :snoring:

Map making would be pretty great.

I haven't played a game with a good mapmaker since Timesplitters.

And I don't think making team-objective maps would be too hard to make. You'd just need to devise a system where the creator has to fill certain requirements, like your map must have A, B, and C, etc.

Which wouldn't make you as fast as those people who master the system and combine manual jumps and slides with SMART.

What about Far Cry 2's or Halo's (Although Halo's isn't that great)

I'd love a map editor and a timed SMART run. I remember a intreview a long while back that they might do a map editor if they had time. Since they delayed it twice hopefully they got it in. A timed run might be one of the challenges too.

Yeah, lets have one like Timesplitters! I must've made at least 98723465 maps in that freakin game.

IMO, it sounds very gimmicky. It's not suited for a semi-serious shooter like Brink. It seems like it wouldn't fit into the game very well. If you can produce two examples on how you should implement it into the game so it makes sense, I would consider it, but sorry, it seems very weird and like an add-on

I'd download it as DLC.
I don't get why some people will say no to a feature when they can have it. Who cares if it doesn't suit? It's a feature, you don't have to use it!

there's been a SDK for both their other games, would be disappointed if none for Brink, although editworld from ET:QW should be able to make basic maps and, afaik, SMART is built in and would work independantly

Forge isn't a map maker, it's a map editor.

a mapmaker would be pointless because even if they had one it wouldnt be that great because they didnt have the time to make a decent one and besides i would rather be actually be playing the game instead of making a dumb map

And those who have creative minds would like to make maps. Although taking the team-based gameplay of Brink and combining it with this.. might lead to some either very interesting designs or very terrible / one sided designs.
We'll see what happens..

like i can see a forge type of thing like halo but making a objective based map starting from scratch would be really hard to do

Then get it on PC and wait for the mod tools.

How very dismissive and single-minded.
