New Install/LO Needs Fixing

Okay, so I did a new install, and I have a few problems:

1. It would seem that something about Race Balancing Project is severely screwed up. Many eye textures are missing, some eye and hair meshes, skin texture seems to be missing for the Ohmes Raht, And races like the Aquamer are missing entirely (the race is there, but the camera sticks me in a corner, and the char is "invisible". I'm guessing missing mesh.

2. Game crashes just after I leave character creator.

:facepalm: I've been pretty pwned here guys. I can't figure out why RBP could have messed up so badly. Bain install was simple enough, and I've never had this problem before. (well, Crash on startup yes, but this char gen thing is crazy. I've only encountered similar problems when attempting to as a newb to add additional eye/hair items, like from Argonian Beautification)

RBP has a very large resource file that is a separate download, did you get that?

10 TNR ALL RACES FINAL.esp should be imported under NPC faces, not active

2D ExnemRuneskulls.esp
++ FCOM_ExnemRuneskulls.esp [Version 0.9.9] - not needed with new MMM

++ FCOM_Cobl.esp [Version 0.9.9] - I'd leave this off until the next version, otherwise doubled ingredients on creatures.

++ OMOBS.esp [Version 1.0]
++ OMOBS_SI.esp [Version 1.0] - Better imported under Stats, not merged.

Anyway, I did all the changes you recommended.

But now---I can't see why---I can't even enter gameplay. Crash immediately upon starting a new or loading an old game. Crashes during loading or immediately upon loading. Crashes before New Game cinematic starts.

You should delete #40 Gems and GemDust, it's already integrated into OOO. I'm going to assume you checked your BOSS log for errors, everything else looks kosher. Are the 4 Progress mods part of nGCD? You might have to disable OMG. The FCOM patch only supports version 5-something, whereas the CURP available on Nexus is for a couple versions later, and the mod itself has been greatly updated since then.

And if none of that helps you find the problem, there is always the tried-and-true method of activating one thing at a time. Deactivate everything, then start w/ FCOM. For a new character, make a clean save and exit. Then move on to other big items like Race Balancing Project and Quest Mods. Rebuild your patch each time, new save, rinse and repeat. For an old character, try to load it with just FCOM. If you can't, follow the new character procedure and try to load after each save. Assuming you can eventually, open the console and type 'coc testinghall'. Then continue w/ the '1 at a time' method. After all mods have loaded, wait 3 full days, and you should be good to go.

RBP has a plugin that allows you to merge TNR faces to Vanilla+RBP+LAME+SI NPC.
A single esp. You already have it:
9E bgBalancingEVOptionalNPCDiversity, TNR Merge.
It makes these redundant:
** TNR ALL RACES FINAL.esp
10 TNR - ShiveringIsles no helms.esp

And they all should be unchecked while rebuilding you Bashed Patch.

This looks like what I'm going to have to do. :brokencomputer: Since I'm still encountering the same problem.

Any other ideas? I won't be touching this until much later tonight, so feel free to save me from a boatload of work. :)

Are you sure your MMM and Fran BSAs are loading? Which issue are you still dealing with?

The issue actually is 'new'. The original mistake was not loading the RBP resources, something I overlooked in my mod installation. The funny thing is, when I had that problem, the starting cinematic would actually play, and I could go into char gen. The game would crash shortly after I exited char gen.

However, after making the initial corrections proposed, the game crashes upon completion of the first loading screen of the new game (before the Emperor's monologue). I have also tried loading a game, but there the game usually crashes before the loading screen is even complete.

I originally thought the original crash was happening because of my RBP problems. If the crash is the same thing I'm experiencing now, I have no idea why it suddenly decided to start crashing earlier, before chargen and before the cinematic. Because of this, I think the crash I'm having now is different than the one earlier, though I very well may be wrong.

And I'm not sure if the BSAs are loading. I ran an archive invalidation yesterday. Not sure if it helped at all though.

And I'm not sure if the BSAs are loading. I ran an archive invalidation yesterday. Not sure if it helped at all though.

That is not what I meant.. If you are using OBMM, all you need to do for archive invalidation is set BSA redirection in OBMM (Utilities > Archive invalidation.) After that, you no longer have to worry about archive invalidation. As for the BSAs loading, I basically just want to know what the name of your MMM and Fran BSAs are.

When rebuilding your bashed patch try checking on import faces and then your RBP npc diversity plugin.

No idea. :shrug: I installed FCOM and MMM OMOD-style. I think the MMM omod asked if I was going to install FCOM, and then renamed the BSA for FCOM.

When rebuilding your bashed patch try checking on import faces and then your RBP npc diversity plugin.

Did so. Still no sign of improvement. (I also have begun deselecting mods. Progress and nGCD are all deactivated, plus all Open Cities plus patches. Roads and Bridges plus patches are also gone. Removing these has not solved the problem)

I think I'll start deactivating the quest mods...

Do you have the latest version of Harvest Flora installed? I recommend next disabling RBP, Disable Tutorial Text and... Do you need the DLT remover for OOO installed?

You've already removed them entirely, but just for the record there is a known issue with starting the game with OCC+KOTN+KOTN UOMP. You need to disable the KOTN UOMP until after you're able to save the first time, then you can exit and activate that. Otherwise the game will crash after you see the prison but somewhere before you're able to complete the first stages of chargen.

Just disabled Ivellon and Heart of the Dead. Rebashed again. No effect.

Disabled Integration and Race Balancing Project files. Rebashed. A change! After clicking on New, before anything happened, a quest popup (for starting Lost Spires) popped up. Then up in the corner OBSE announced its activation, then the crosshairs appeared, though the moving map background was still visible. Then black, then crash to desktop.

bleugh. I'll get rid of Disable Tutorial Text and something else. I just downloaded Harvest Flora yesterday, so it should be the latest. I did not install drop lit torches with OOO, cause the function tends to stop working after a while. I've used OBSE drop lit torches to amend the problem.

EDIT: Unchecked Disable Tutorial Text and Harvest Flora files. back to the old black screen upon completion of the loading screen. Cinematic has yet to rear its face. (will do torch and Lost Spires next)

This more or less describes what happens when OCC and the KOTN UOMP are both active at once. Not sure what else is capable of causing this, since you've already got OCC out of the way. Just for kicks, try starting in this config with the KOTN UOMP disabled. See what that does.

Did you rebuild your bashed patch after making each of the changes? I asked about the DLT Remover because I figured that the OBSE DLT mod would take care of that.

Will get rid of DLT remover and Knights of the Nine unofficial patch next.

Yep. I'm careful to go through it and deselect mods I don't want bashed anymore.

EDIT1: Deactivated both DLT and KotN unofficial patch. rebashed. No change.

Went back to rename the Frans bsa. I got rid of the ".bsa" at the end. deleted config file. Rerunning oblvion....no change.

EDIT2: Deactivated bg's LAME and all assorted files. Also removed a lingering reference to KotN unofficial patch in the bashed patch.

Next on the list: OMOBs, and maybe Kvatch rebuilt.

EDIT3: Deactivated OMOBS and Kvatch rebuilt files. rebashed. Nothing.

More quests on the striking list....

EDIT 4: Struck Malevolent and Gift of Kynareth from the list. rebashed. no change.

Blood and Mud is next, along with Ayleid steps, probably.

Starting to smell a lot like corrupted mesh territory. Have you tried renaming your meshes and/or textures folder and loading the game?

Regenerated your Oblivion.ini if that fails?
