possible but improbable to happen for a while as they like to keep things internal.
maybe something like redguard a few years after skyrim.

%100 no, TES is Bethesda figurehead, maybe for a spinoff like the Redguard and Battlespire games, but not a fully fledged (and numbered) elder scrolls.

EDIT: It's a good interview though

I know people are going to be screaming, "Oh god! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" but need I remind you that this is an entirely new engine and is the trademark franchise of Bethesda? There is no doubt they'd make sure that the game plays properly, especially after the problems they've had in the past. With Fallout, as he said, the guys had experience and were basically telling the "true" Fallout 3 story. I think if they worked on writing and Bethesda worked on the design, it would elevate the series a lot.

Well, a lot of Obsidian members are ex- Black Isles so I would think the story will work out just fine. Perhaps a joint-development?

He implies that is a very small possibility, and that he seems to lean toward keeping it internal. That said, I don't think I'd mind an Obsidian TES game, so long as it's just a spinoff (is that the right word?) and not a whole new game in the main series, and as long as they respect the lore 100%.

Well, a lot of Obsidian members are ex- Black Isles

Really? No wonder Obsidian is so awesome. That explains a lot.

Sounded more like, to me, that he wants to keep TES internal, but he's just not going to rule it out. TES is their baby. I think Beth will always do it internally.

NO. Obsidian have already ruined Fallout and other titles, they do not know how to make good role playing games.

Obisidian should be given lead for the next Fallout game's development, Elder scrolls is it's own thing.

No to the main, numbered chapters.

TES is non-linear. TES has a main story, but it is never the only attraction.

New Vegas was a linear game cleverly disguised in a non-linear box. The side quests were almost exclusively dealing with the Main Quest in some way or another. That isn't TES. Bethesda is TES.

That said, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing Bethesda give Obsidian the Adventure or Legend franchise to give another shot. Another Redguard or Battlespire, perhaps?

After how disappointing Fallout New Vegas was I would prefer Bethesda to keep doing TES.

I enjoyed NV but really preferred FO:3. My personal feeling is Beth should keep TES and the main FO chapters internal and let Obsidian do the NV style spin-offs for FO.

i would like to see obsidians take on the elder scrolls in a spin off title, but i have a feeling they'd make the game feel very complicated, good but complicated. i wouldnt rule it out :)

@drelel obsidian were in charge of fallout from the very beginning, bethesda just now own the franchise. put it like this the elder scrolls is bethesdas star kid, and fallout is that ginger step child.

hahahahahahhahahahahaha.... Obsidian ruined fallout? Are you joking? The consensus is that Bethesda after acquiring the rights for the fallout franchise ruined Fallout. The Black Isle devs at obsidian would have loved to keep it original. Amongst the original fallout fans, New Vegas was liked much more than the washington DC spin-off Bethesda developed.

Chances are high ZeniMax will use their usual methods to buy out Obsidian and if that happens, seeing them develop some TES games would not be surprising. Besides, last time I checked it was Bethesda that was removing features, game mechanics and over simplifying the Elder Scrolls franchise, not Obsidian or anyone else. Obsidian as a general rule of thumb would resist such over simplification if they had creative control.

All of you are clamoring for "spin-offs", but what spin-offs do you want? Everyone talks about how TES is about the exploration, side quests, etc. but now you want them to completely change the format? Are you sure you're not just hoping Obsidian would fail? They've got wonderful ideas and terrific storytelling, but they just need some assistance on the actual game part.

That's generally my feeling, although I'd rather a new spinoff than a return to a previous one.

I imagine not screwing up the lore would be among the hardest things, given how much of it there is now. And the way Todd also talks about balancing the humor and keeping it true to the tone of the game - details like that I can't imagine another studio doing as well. Still, the wait between TES games can feel painfully long, so I might be willing to take the chance with a spinoff title.

In any case, while Todd doesn't rule it out, it's clearly not too likely to happen any time soon.

This is a matter of philosophy here. You claim when Bethesda bought Fallout from Black Isles, it was ruined then. I say it was a good thing because Bethesda make good RPGs and I knew they would do good things to Fallout. Then, Obsidian took over for New Vegas and made it into a worse game compared to Fallout 3. If Obsidian got their hands on TES that would be the end of good RPGs and my personal trust for Bethesda. I hope you can understand my points.

Because a New Vegas style of Eye of Argonia would be awesome

I don't see why Bethesda didn't just call the game Apocolyptica and make a few name changes, it's different enough they couldn't have gotten sued

Fallout NV was great. If it means we can see another elder scrolls game after Skyrim and NOT have to wait another 5 years, I say bring it on.

I'd prefer if Bethesda stuck to TES and Obsidian handled Fallout, don't get me wrong I loved Fallout 3 but I don't know if I could go back to it after New Vegas (looking past the launch bugs of course).
