New Issue?

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 8:34 am

So, on my second play-through still.. Just decided to use the Grendel and got the Assault Scope on it...

3 games in a row I managed to get the host but was getting cheated out of many kills because every time I zoomed in with the Assault Scope, my FPS would drop and everything got choppy as hell. It made it incredibly hard to aim at anything... It was particularly terrible on Statue.

Anyone else experience this?

Yep, I've had issues where being the host has actually seemed to be a disadvantage sometimes. Especially if people from the northern hemisphere were in the match. And yes scoping sometimes made a noticeable slowdown.

Not related to this gun, but I've felt very disadvantaged as host as well in a few games. How is this possible? Compare it say with Gears of War host advantage and this weird issue becomes even more baffling.

I get REALLY strange killcams whenever I get killed with the Grendel!

That is because you have one of the worse connections among hosts. I get it so bad that after I dump a whole clip into someone (Them freaking out in a turrettes spasm the whole time) they run 14 feet away, then stage dive dead onto the ground. Your problem is that you were using the grendel. Even though you see choppiness, they don't even see you for a few seconds. You might think you were at a disadvantage, but you just can't see your advantage.

If you are host, and you have connection or lag related issues, you need to examine your connection from your X-Box all the way to your ISP. My problem is upstream data transfer, and the fact I use my x-box wirelessly instead of with a Cat 5 cable. I still win when I'm the host 100% of the time, because even though it's a bad gaming experience for me, it is terrible for everyone else. 25-2 terrible ;)

I actually do win regardless, and no frame rate lag has nothing to do with my ISP. I wasn't stating I was lagging... I was saying I was missing shots because my crosshair movement would stutter over my targets and I'd have to constantly readjust my aim. Once I stopped using the Assault Scope (had to stop using the Grendel as well because I obviously couldn't switch scopes in game) I didn't have the issue with iron sights or Reflex Sights.

I have experienced the lag you're talking about, but not while I'm the host. It's usually those wonderful 1 host 4 green bar, everyone else 1 red bar games that happen (rarely, I might add).

Not sure why you attribute everything to someone having a terrible ISP. It's like claiming all people with bad teeth have terrible dentists.
