New leader of the Kings

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 10:22 pm

Let's assume any non-Legion faction takes over Vegas and you control the rest of the adjustable variables in the ending slides. Who would you support? What would you do differently from the King? O and you have his limited knowledge and resources.

*If you just really want to say the Legion won go ahead, but in the end you'll just fall anyway.

I would have no problem with the King's maintaining their personal freedom. The King is a groovy cat. Although, they would be still have their personal freedom if they were NCR cititzens, only difference is they pay taxes....which is a small price for their representation and safety to exersize their desire for personal freedom.

You literally just took the guy who's arguably one of the best leaders in the game and you're asking us what we'd do differently and how to improve on his choices. He's pretty damn hard to criticize.

The Kings represent freedom. It's what they value the most, and they'd rather die than not have it. I personally think that's quite a noble cause, and while I don't think I would say "over my cold dead body" if Mr. House tried to force me to leave Freeside, I can respect that the King would. Even then, that's not so much a criticism of his philosophies, but rather I would make a logical decision just for the sake of having a future whereas he would make an emotional one, both to not compromise his own values and possibly because he wants to make a point, even if it means death.

For mine I'll go with the indepedent ending. I would of probably teamed up with the Westsiders to kill all NCR citizens in Freeside. Using the Anti-NCRism you could probably build a crude feeling of nationalism in the slums. Teaming up with the Westside militia I would use the Kings to kill the Scorpions to gain Westsides respect. Afterwards we would begin attacks against the Fiends to shore up support for the Kings throughout Vegas. While the courier is busy doing whatever we'd try to push the Fiends back as much as possible while I considilate the Westside milita into the Kings with a series of fake terrorist plots and assassinations in Westside and Freeside. After enough of the top members of the Westside community have died it woudl be time for a fake trial using fake evidence to convict Westside's top leaders of treason to the slums and a few token Kings members.

During the second battle we would hold the line against the Fiends and raid Crimson Caravan. After the Battle we would clean up Vault 3 and Camp Mccaran killing all remaining Fiends and NCR troopers and while taking everything of value. The salvaged power armor would go to my most loyal troops and they would make up my new special forces unit which would raid Jacobstown, Gun Runners, Red Rock, and any remaining NCR post. All the while using the profits from raiding Crimson Caravan, Vault 3 and Mccaran on all weapons I can get from the Van Gruffs, especially EMPs and Pulse weapons.

With the slums unified, a standing force with armor and guns, and special forces with power armor and anti robotic weapons it would be time for the final stage; plan overthrow. Every able bodied man, woman and child would be given a gun, all the while rumors and propaganda about the couriers ties to the Legion and NCR woudl be spread. A Kings member would attempt/kill the courier which would probably lead to him/her invading Freeside and Westside. At this point theres no telling how things will turn out because House's robots updated are pretty damn powerful. This plan is crazy and unlikely but the only chance a Gang like the Kings would have of taking control.

No one can do better than the King. He is almost flawless.

And that's his main flaw. A lack of the weapons and numbers needed to fight back.

I'd call Pacer 'mahboii' and wonder what's for dinner all day, until NCR move in and take over.

House and Caesar die in 3 out of 4 endings, but that doesn't make them inferior.

Lanius, Oliver, Kimball, Moore, hell most of the damn characters don't die unless it's a Legion ending and even then a lot of them survive. In any case most endings dispropatiately have the Kings die that's all I'm saying just like most have House dying too. That basically means that the Kings need radical new leadership and plan to make it.

The king is the only one who could lead the Kings. Without him, there are no Kings.

And yet, unlike everyone else, he controls his own fate.
Whereas the others die while trying to avoid death, the King is willing to face death and make a stand. He'll protest against any group that tries to boss around Freeside, even to the death.

Caesar hides behind his guards and breaks his own culture's rules out of fear of death, Kimball hides behind guards and voices a desire to get the hell out of the area out of fear, House has spent over 200 years trying to avoid death; the King? The King believes in something, and he's willing to die for it. And that's what makes him such a good leader.

Yeah, I wouldn't change a thing. One of the best characters of the best faction in the game.

And what is it that he believes in that fully? That he should be able to rule a northern slum however he wants? O yeah real leadership.

Have you never talked to him and asked him what his group is about? He can give you a pretty good speech and summary himself.
Personally I think it's pretty obvious that the Kings, in a way, are the personification of freedom. And as such, they're not willing to be kicked or ordered around by anyone, ala William Wallace.

I'd make the kings much more powerful. The Kings should become officially the ones who rule Freeside, meaning I (the new king) would become the mayor of Freeside and bring a bit more of a better society to that place. Cleaning up all that mess will be the first thing I let the citizens do.
