New Manhattan OOC Thread

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 3:40 am

To be fair Sutler's alliance to anyone is merely out of necessity, as much as it would actually pain him Miuex (though only slightly) he would kill you if he had too, and if he had the Project... well you and Arcadia wouldn't mean [censored] to him. But he obviously wouldn't try anything when in Miuex's building, security and such.

Don't hate him too much, he's been through a lot of [censored].

I can understand how the Enclave would hare Lyn. She hates the Enclave plenty as well. As long as we don't hate each other OOC, we're good.

Frank wants peace in the city more than anything right now; can someone give me a clear idea on which character can deliver that, so he may approach them with his pitch?

Well, Mieux is wanting control over Manhattan because he thinks Snowe is unable to be trusted, but he's willing to a treuce if all else fails. To him, war is alot of negative numbers, bad for business, and he's willing to go all out to establish order and the rule of law, so you COULD try to get to my tower, the blast doors to its entrance are sealed, but one of the sentrybots could let you in if Mieux approves.

Dark, you might as well surrender, there is absolutely no way to enter the tower if the doors seal. So now we're pretty much going to spend the next 10 hours in a stand off (apart from the sentry bots, deathclaws (Ramendias) and my human soldiers outside the blastdoors warding your men off. :laugh"

Okay, this whole control for power is fun and all, but some experienced RPers might argue that it's not actual RP, but a game of battleship. I say we try and take it back to basics, make it more about life in a post-apocalyptic NY, rather than a struggle for control. My idea is that everyone gets a common enemy that we can band together against.

Perhaps a faction from the west sees the state of turmoil NY is in, and decides to take over. This faction being the most evil and fascist of them all; get the opposition of BoS, Mafia, GP, Arcadia, Enclave, and BP (Bridgeport). And I strongly suggest that NPF (Non-Player-Factions) be terminated. One person controlling two characters is alright in most RP's as they're simply used to move things forward, but some of you guys are really abusing that right.. Controlling several different characters as mains. It's simply not right. In some RP's there's even a one character per player rule..

Try showing everything from your characters perspective, rather than instantly making new characters every two posts..

Sorry for sounding like a [censored] the second I come back; just my 2 Cents. :P

Lol, I agree. But my character is pretty much the 'Mr. House' route. IE, he sees himself as the best thing for humanity, and the things he's achieved in the past 20 years proves he's not just saying 'good things will come in time, just wait.'

He sees Gauss Project as a mountian on the road to progress, so he sees getting rid of them from the area as the only chance for his plans to blossom. I don't want them killed, I just want to push them out of the old city limits.

That was the whole reason he placed the part about Caravans and trade as well as food in the unconditional surrender, to show Mieux doesnt care about them existing, he just doesnt want them existing in what he sees as 'his' land.

Well, as time goes on; these type of feuds lead to kill-or-be-killed situations which gets very awkward to RP, as you can't actually kill another player unless s/he agrees. You also need a very good reason to do so.

It seems strange that all the main characters are still alive; and a lot of them have never even been hindered or scraqed in the slightest. I try and keep my character real; he has weaknesses, losses, and pains. Others don't seem to have the same. Im actually considering making Frank do something to seriously piss someone off and have him killed, just for the sake of realism.

Another thing is; after this war; we should take another in-game break. Remember, not this much action ever takes place in real life all together. When's the last time your characters slept? :P

I suggest another month be taken off after the war. Like a *1 Week Later* sign on the OP.. Just another idea..

Who's more evil than the Enclave? We all have different characters who react to things in different ways and such, I play a xenophobic, fanatical sadist who is only allied to Miuex out of convienence and okay, a smidgen of respect. The only way to force me to care about wasteland affairs would be to affect my base, but I only have one base with 50 people, in fact in terms of scale I'm probably the weakest.

If you want Frank to die I'll kill him, Sutler could do with a good vent of rage, though the only thing to piss me off would be to kill one of my people, which, even if they are un-named, I cannot do...

Well, my character is realistic, the thing is, he knows he's human, and outside his robots and massive data network (cameras, proxy spies and etc) he has no real combat skill. He even served in Operation: Anchorage without firing off his gun, he has little combat ability, he has a pistol as a last resort, thats why he installed so many security measures.

In any case, thats the reason my action posts are so short, 'day do day' is more fun for me to read than 'pew pew pew'.

After this whole things wraps up. I wouldnt mind skipping a month ahead and showing some of the calming down process. But damnit, Dark keeps making the fight go on.

Edit: I'm also pretty weak offensively, thats why my side has largely been defensive (minus the bomber which will never be used again as far as I intend)

Nah, I don't think I'll kill him. He's been around since the beginning. He shouldn't just die off. He deserves victory just as much as anyone else. Enclave hates things that are impure. Frank is from a Vault (that became dysfunctional when he was very young which is why he doesn't have a Pip-Boy, or any surviving family.)

But his men are moslty impure. Anyway, we could invent a new faction similar to Pitt Raiders. Ones that work like locusts. Shift from city to city, consuming it of its resources before moving on. If they suddenly show up, everyone would have reason to hate them, including the Enclave...

Right it's 11pm in the UK, whilst I shall still be on for another hour or so, if anything major happens and I have been gone for some time, feel free to GM me to fit your situation Miuex. Oh and for the sake of convienience let's just say Adams is unconcious rather close to your Penthouse/Escape Lift just in case and you have a doctor with him.

I don't want this RP to turn into New Conetticut: A Michael Bay movie. Maybe we could deal with the Institute, as they were planned in the earlier to be fighting with Liberty Lost over New Manhattan.

Well New Manhattan would still be a big powerhouse of the region. What I'm planning on doing is probably to settle down in Stamford for the first time and launch regular around the clock attacks on New Manhattan once that settlement really gets going and with all the technology they took from the original bunker, that wouldn't be very much later.

I'm inclined to agree with Holy, perhaps a jump forward of a few days and we're all back in our homes or something, things are getting confusing.

Thats why I FF'd to the day after it ended. I was just sick of all the combat. Hence I went over to the 'War's over' celebration.

Well, as I read it, Dark surrendered, but he won't hand over any of the tech like I demanded.

Alright; I see that there's some sort of ceremony going on, but I don't know where, or why. Someone please fill me in so I can get Frank there, along with all his men.. Much appreciated. :)

Eh, nothing fancy, it's a 'mutual forgive and forget' ceremony, all the soldiers who fought in the war on all sides are in the crowd infront of Mieux Tower, and the leaders on a small stage, Mieux just left and went back inside (without anyone knowing), Scalatti just finished giving his words, and now someone else can take their turn to give words of wisdom.

Well, seeing as the mafia didn't take part in the fight; there's no point in him making a speech, is there? Oh well, I'll have him show up anyway. :P
