New Manhattan OOC Thread

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 7:11 pm

Here as always, got some exams tomorrow and the day after is all, have revision material open in another tab which I should be working on. Didn't want to disturb you and Adams so aside from talking to my men about building stuff have nothing to do, but of course it adds to the world and such so I will post something in about an hour or so, been working on a fan-fic too.

And no more of this formal Enclave crap, it's Adam, Adam James Walker, but Adam will suffice.

Lol, I didnt know your name was all

People can call be Justin, or Colonel, or whatever as long as I know it's me being refered to.

Edit- Oh and if you think Sutler would agree, Mieux would like to sign a terms of agreement that would make Arcadia and The Enclave allies. (Just giving you a bit of the RP that involves you directly.)

I remember reading that, I always keep up to date on things. Sutler will sign your rag, a formal pact between the two, the way he see's it you'll all be dead by the revived Enclave's posion in a 100 years or so, typical Enclave "The ends justify the means" attitude. But then again, Sutler is proud man, he wouldn't care and in honesty would defy the deal if he needed too, it's niether legally binding nor recognised by the US, maybe if you worded it that Arcadia is the Enclave's benefactor or something, whatever the word is. He could never official make the Enclave and, in his eye's, one of the illegal, un-recognised states on par.

Alright, no time jump then.

In Bridgeport, I will not uber anything. It will be a humble trade hub. Alex will go around with his caravans and trade often with New Manhattan.

Yeah, I can agree. We need MUCH more dialogue and less explosions. Lets just not have any major battles for a quite long time.

@Martyr, Would you mind if Alex pops in for a visit?

As long as he's willing to accept the gate rules (No weaponsare permitted in the city unless you have a guard badge or a VIP passport issued by Mieux.) If you need to see Mieux, then you have to consult his aid in the lobby of Hotel Mieux and then I'd give the final say so if you come up to the penthouse..

I hate this "60 seconds until another post" rule.

Anyways, Alex will consent and pop in for a visit to make a trade deal.

@Zerker. You are a good rper and all, but how is the GP getting stronger? You just got your asses kicked, and half the city is in flames.

The GP is getting to the point of well, unstopability. Chimera tanks? Not even the Enclave has those.

I choose to only take 300 people to Bridgeport to not uber everything. I really hope that you do not attack Bridgeport, because well, since I choose not to uber, the only way I can possibly stand a chance is to uber.

Well technically, Chimera tanks are mining rigs fitted with laser cannons, they also move on a screw thead type mechanism meaning they only work in snow but they were never used anyway right?

Well yeah, if he just wants to visit the casinos or visit the bazaar, thats his business, but if you want to make some kind of exclusive trade contract, then you'd have to consult Mieux directly as ALL paperwork that involves running Arcadia is sent to him.

@James- And even then we don't know how accurate the story about those Chimera tanks is, because alot of the terminals indicate that Chase pretty much went and turned Operation: Anchorage into a pure work of fiction, likely related to his in denial of his PTSD

I could use some help on this situation with Zerker's ubering.

This is my first RP (hard to believe, I know) and I don't know how to handle Zerker. I don't want to be too harsh, but how should I handle this? I have almost reached my breaking point.

By posting it here are you hoping he'll see it thus raise the point directly? Well just put your foot down, your thread, your rules, simple. Insist he has too ask you first like I did about all the stuff I was planning.

Good work, Alex. If you require advice on how to handle problems (not just Dark, obviously), don't hesitate to ask. You've done a great job on holding this together, and for six threads, no less. Thread 7 nears! Congrats! :congratulations:

Anyway, Dark, are you still visiting Arcadia? Not a problem if you are, but I'd like to know beforehand so I can work on my next post sooner rather than later. :D

Adam, have you been utilising the GECK? I just assumed that the cabbage fields and sewage system would have been built with the GECK's technology, as we previously just relied on hydroponic bays.

Just wondering for my upcoming post.

EDIT: @Alex, you may want to add to the New Manhattan description, as it is now under GP rule

@Ramendia -- you make mirelurks seem cute, and this is coming from someone who is never in touch with such emotions. Kudos. Lyn is brilliant.

No the GECK is still unused, just like Klamath and the like, cabbages and such can still grow, just not as well. Just because I have ultimate juristication on everything occuring within the Enclave (HAWHAWHAW!), I would still never use something as important as the GECK without asking my second-in-command and chief advisor first. ;)

EDIT: I did actaully mean to go into how the farms don't contribute too much and really just exist for something to focus on, the underground hydroponics still provide everything.

The GP is like a representation of any major super power. It's scared to pick a fight, not because it'll lose, but because of how fragile the infrastructure of the super power will be if they go through with the war. Remember the war with the Federation and Alex's rebellion made New Manhattan very weak and forced the GP to spread their army all across the North East Coast to try and establish something.

It'll be nerfed as the story progresses. The reason I have to keep this as an uber is because I introduced it as an uber. Back then, I was nooby and didn't know much about RP and now...either everything just becomes "oh well, let's forget about all the events and erase this faction" or "keep it ubered". Of course, I can always "Let's get rid of all this power"

And THAT is what I'll be doing in Thread 7. So look for that.

I expect this meeting to be one of the most interesting moments in the RP. Nice. And well done on thread 7 Alex. Wish we could get a few new members, though. :/

Anyway, Adam, what's next for us? Make no mistake, I'm not one to rush things, but with the GP in power and Alex establishing a thriving city 30 miles away, the Enclave is falling behind. Of course, Sutler doesn't welcome wastelanders with open arms, but I believe I remember you saying New Navarro will be a new settlement. Or did you just mean of Enclave citizens?

Thanks. :D

We could use some new members, but anytime they join, they leave

Indeed it will be interesting. I kind of imagine it'll have the same charge as scene of the meeting of the Five Families in The Godfather. Basically the idea will be that Mieux, in anger about the GPs recent events, is willing to forgive the storming north for revenge, but the civil war in New Manhattan and it's shift in behavior has him annoyed, and is planning on sending food to New Manhattan as agreed, however, 'luxuries' such as Pre-War clothing, furniture, building materials, and anything that isnt life essential will be highly taxed and sent sparsely, and if New Manhattan refuses to accept these terms for 1 year, then food from either city will cease to be shipped. The Enclave and name their own terms in all this, but he just wants the Enclave to be obstensively neutral to the matter, IE, this whole conflict is largely between the three powers of New Manhattan.

New Navarro is an Enclave settlement, it's just Sutler thinking of an actual name for the place he is making home, as opposed to Poseidon Enegry Headquarters or Bunker Z/34u or whatever. It'll just be buildings made from the Vault 109 salvage, imagine vault rooms but on the surface. It's just an Enclave thing, nobody else is getting in .

Could you invite me into the boardroom Justin, expected some kind of security you see, have two Enclave troopers as well as another high ranking Enclave member. On the helipad.

Well you'll be permitted in and your other official, but no weapons or guards are to be let in. It's a sign of faith to each faction. It's basically meant to be a means of 'we're all equal in this room whether you like it or not.'

It seems good so I'll probably go for it. After all, building materials can be easily scavenged from the ruins by Securitron guided caravans but the citizens would probably be unhappy that new pieces of furniture and Arcadia clothing would be double the price it is now. So that seems like a good way to keep New Manhattan a strong power but to lower the sudden boom of economy after the whole shift of focus to the economic centers of New Manhattan.
