Don Frank VercelottiThe Don awoke with a start. Opening his eyes wide, he stared at the ceiling of the room he was in, staring back at him was a single bulb hanging off a wire swinging back and forth. Thrusting upwards in from his resting position he felt a sharp and sudden pain all along his torso.
"Gah!" he winced.
Not this again! he thought to himself, recalling that he was in this position once before, laying in a hospital bed, severely injured. Scrunching his face, Frank sat up, and rubbed his eyes.
What happened this time? he wondered.
The Don almost jumped when he heard the door to the room swing open, and an elderly man in a medical jacket entered. "Ah, awake at last." the man commented pleasantly.
"What happened this time?" Frank asked, having no patience for small talk.
"The wedding. Don't you remember?" the doctor asked, smiling.
Frank remained silent. Straining his mind to go over the details. He remembered.

*FLASHBACK*
"Do you, William Snowe take Sonia Marx to be your lawfully wedded wife?" the priest asked.
"I do" William responded.
And then there was a bang. Frank recognized the sound immediately.
Gunshot. Frank sprang into action, jumping for William to try and get him out of there. Before he reached them, he felt a sudden numbness. He stood in his place, directly infront of the altar, as William looked at him in shock.
Crap, it wasn't a gunshot, I just made a fool of myself. Frank thought. But then the numbness spread, first in his chest, then his entire body. Without reason, Frank dropped down to the ground, absolutely motionless.
What the hell his happening to me? Have I been paralyzed? he wondered, looking around frantically when his eyes noticed something. Under him there was a large pool of blood. When he looked to trace the source, it was his own body.
The Don began slipping in and out of consciousness, only managing to comprehend a few broken sentences.
"The Don has been shot!--" said one voice.
"Get a medic!" yelled another.
"Don't die on me now!" screamed yet another.
Frank wished he could respond, but nothing. He couldn't move a muscle, let alone speak. He felt like he was being taken somewhere, but he couldn't be sure in his state. Then everything went black, and all Frank could hear was one, long, monotonous beep.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
---
"Hello? You okay? Snap out of it!" the Doctor was shouting, trying to gain Franks attention.
"I remember" was his only reply. After a moment of silence, the doctor began to explain things.
"By the time we got you in here, you had already lost a lot of blood." he said matter-of-factly. "We were hoping that the bullet had missed your heart. Our hopes were in vain." he continued. "The major parts-"
"Wait, what?" Frank cut off. "I was shot in the heart?"
"Yes" the doctor answered, shrugging, as if it were no big deal.
"So shouldn't I be dead?" the Don asked, confused.
"Technically, yes. And you were."
"Dead?"
"Yeah." the doctor replied, rolling his eyes, feeling rather irritated with the repetition.
Well, that's the best thing I've heard all day. Frank mused silently. "How did you fix me?" Frank asked curiously.
"
Fix is a good word." the doctor chuckled. "We implanted a synthetic pump in the place of your heart, and replaced your circulatory system entirely. Your heard had been ruptured, and the lead from the bullet had gone and infected all your veins, arteries and capillaries." he explained. "The oxygen in your body in now being carried by other means. Our bio-engineers created a new fluid that can effectively replace blood, that's structured out of your own seman. In addition to that -"
"Okay! Okay! I've heard enough!" Frank stopped the man, absolutely repulsed.
"Mr. Vercelotti." The doctor said, leaning closer to him. "You are more machine than man."
The Don took a deep breath upon hearing these words and stared at the doctor grimly. "So basically, Im a robot?"
"Oh far from it!" he corrected. "You still have your own free will. It's only your circulatory system that has been replaced, you're otherwise the same. Although there are some advantages, and disadvantages."
"Like what?"
"Well, your heart is now much stronger, so you could run, or take part in any cardiovascular activity for hours on end without suffering from fatigue. You can hold your breath indefinitely too."
"Awesome" Frank smiled for the first time in a long time.
"But on the downside, you can't pass a metal detector without it beeping. You can be severely affected by pulse charges; be it pulse grenade, or electromagnetic pulse, more commonly known as an EMP." he added. "Oh yeah and, you need to charge yourself for the night."
"What am I, a cell phone?"
"Better." the doctor chuckled once more.
"Can I get out of here now?"
"Oh no, you'll need several days of therapy." the doctor responded.
Frank merely slapped his forehead.
Dammit, I want to get out and see what's going on."Don't worry, you're allowed visitors. I sent word to the Director of your awakening before entering this room. Him and several others that were present at the wedding. They'll get you up to date." the doctor grinned comfortingly.
OOC: That last bit is to help fill me in on the current situation. Everyone present at the wedding has been sent a message by the Doc.
