OOC: The scene in the vault is somewhat like this, except that the vault door was not blown open, and no one got dipped into FEV Fats :D The scene in the vault begins at .43 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfyqlMBeQFU

Alexander Scalatti

The arguing, it brought Alex back into his memories.

FLASHBACK - VAULT 109

Alex sat down next to his parents, Ann next to hers, and John next to his. Several guards guarded the entrances.

"So, Alex, um, what are we going to do?" Ann asked as she walked over.

"I don't know really, I guess we're stuck in this cafeteria."

Then, the intercom began to blast. Yells, screams, all hell was unfolding on the Atrium floor. "Whats going on in there?" One of the guards in the cafeteria yelled.

"Hell!! Help!! No!!!!!" His body was torn in half. The entire moment was blared throughout the intercom. Ann was screaming in fear, John was in a corner.

The guard turned toward the group. "Alright, we need to fight toward the armory, we can put up a fight there, they are only on the first floor, lets go!" The three guards opened the cafeteria door. The group of vault dwellers followed. It took a minute to reach the elevator, but when they did, a mutant appeared inside the elevator.

The mutant walked out, grabbed John's dad. A guard ran over to help but was shot up by another mutant, who had walked down the stairs.

"WE HAVE TO RUN!!!!" One of the guards yelled.

John Fairfield didn't want to leave his dad, who was ripped in half. But the guard forced him too. Alex and Ann's parents were in the front, running for their lives, as the guards were either ripped in half or shot up.

PRESENT DAY

Alex noticed that a tear had ran down his cheek. He needed as place to sit down. He slowly walked over to the sofa. "Sorry, I had several very harrowing memories of my vault days."

OOC: How do I fit in this?

OOC: Erm, most people are in Arcadia right now.

@ Colonel, is it okay if Zerker joins our little dispute in your penthouse? He needs to fit back in.

Mayor Frank Vercelotti

Both Alex and Mieux retorted to Franks outburst, but he listened to neither. "Both of you are so [censored] ignorant! Pampered and spoiled brats, living up in towers and penthouses. To you the city and it's people are no more than pawns!" he howled, once more, clenching both his fists furiously, looking for something else to push over or destroy, not finding anything suitable he marched over to a wall and punched straight into it, leaving a crack in the otherwise embellished wall.

His knuckles pulsated from the blow, but he refused to pay it any attention. "Listen to me, Vault Boy and Cash Bag, there used to be cities in the pre-war days in which chems were perfectly legal, and they were fully functional!" he explained. "I don't know why it was disallowed over here anyway, but it isn't anymore! There may be junkies, but there are junkies everywhere, as are prosttutes. I told you once before that we keep things well regulated, but you refuse to believe me!" he finished.

Turning his attention to Miuex he decided to make one more statement. "If you want to give all your crap to this backstabber here, go ahead, but don't bring New Manhattan down with it." he breathed, venting some of his anger at the situation. "And you Alex" he glanced at Ann. "I spared you, remember? I spared your wife, remember?" he reminded.

Liam "Starrk" Conners a.k.a. Black Cat/Unlucky 13 - Port Neptune - Shining Star Casino

Liam strut into the casino still humming his tune as he shot a look towards one of the dealers who was sweet on him. Liam then ascended the stairs and entered Leon's office to inform his friend and employer of the mission's completion. Crossing the threshold he saw two guards cleaning what appeared to be a bloodstain on the floor.

"Eh, what are you lads doing, and where's the boss?"

The pair of men looked up from their chore to see the deadly hitman standing before them.

"C-Conners, the boss wasn't expecting you back till next week." one the men stammered while the other continued scrubbing the floor.

"I got finished early and that's all you need to know. Now I'd like you to answer my question."

"Were 'tidying' up after the boss killed this mook for cheating at his weekly card game."

"Yeah, the boss went off on him pretty bad. He even turned down a once in a lifetime chem deal to boot.", the other guard chimed in.

"Of course he did you stupid [censored]. He couldn't let that nobody get away with disrespecting him in front of important clients or they surely try to walk all over us. Now I take it he was pretty pissed so do you know where he stormed off to?", Liam asked as he looked towards the overturned card table.

"Nah, and even if he did we were to busy sneaking that dead body outta here to pay attention."

"That's fine by me I'll just wait here until he get's back.", Liam announces as he takes a seat in Leon's fancy red chair.

Liam then turns on the radio and tunes it to PNR he the briefly rises from the chair to collect a glass and a bottle of brandy from the nearby liquor cabinet. Setting the collected items onto the desk Liam then opens the top drawer collecting a cigarette and lighter from within before closing the container. Liam then takes a seat while listening to Jason Hampton the radio DJ.

Port Neptune Radio

"Hey there dudes and dames it's Jason Hampton of PNR! I've got news and tunes for all my loyal listeners but first a personal announcement. My co-host Ashely Maynard is out ill so I'm wishing her a speedy recovery. Now onto today's top stories.

"There have been reports of increased kidnappings in the Greenwich area probably by those crazy King Cobra Cultists. So if you have to head out that way bring plenty of plenty of guns and ammo or just stay the hell away from that neck of the woods."

"In other news the mad raiders of Wolf-Pack have been really getting hammered by the Scarlet Lance mercenaries."

"Finally there have been increased sightings of the Enclave in the New York area. My recommendation loyal listeners stay the hell out of their way and if you have something they want hand it over because these psychos are black-hearted devils that know no mercy.

"Later on folks I'm going to bust out my copy of the Wasteland Survival Guide and give you my loyal audience some tips if you have to survive out in the barren wastes.

"Now that's enough depressing news for now. Let's lighten the mood with a little http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itc8yl9uLD8&feature=related.

Liam "Starrk" Conners a.k.a. Black Cat/Unlucky 13 - Port Neptune - Shining Star Casino

Liam after hearing the news slammed the desk in a rage. "Damn, Enclave! Always sticking there noses where they don't belong. I wish that Lone Wanderer fella finished them off. The whole lot of them kill people because they've been exposed to a wee bit of radiation. I may kill for fun and profit but some of the things they do make me sick."

Liam then downed his drink then poured himself another as he took a drag from his cigarette.

Mieux, still not looking at the group, staring out the window. 'In one way, Frank is right, I only see people outside my immediate control as numbers and charts.' He then shrugged openly. He then turned around. "Very well then, until we sort this rather sordid affair out, Alex you still have that floor in your control, but your promotion is hereby suspended until I figure out what to do. Mr. Vercelotti, you and I, we need to have a private chat in my office" Mieux stressed the end of his sentence, guiding Frank and Lyn into his office. Mieux leaned back on his desk, crossing his arms, and staring very seriously at Frank. Several minutes passing in silence. "Mr. Vercelotti, you disappoint me. I expect outbursts like this from Alex, but certiantly not from you. I'll admit, I had considered you as my replacement, but the ONLY reason I had passed you over for the job of replacement is that I couldn't see you willing to live up here in this tower and controlling two cities, unless you're trying to tell me I'm wrong on that, in which, I will happily provide you Alex's position, I mean, you pretty much are anyway, seeing as I let you run New Manhattan for me. In regards to chems. I only approve of their use as medicines and anesthetics. Drug addicts are bad for business. I am vehemently opposed to all chems, HOWEVER, if you manage to come up with a very viable option for how to handle drug addiction in New Manhattan, I won't come down hard on them. Be grateful I am not William, I've not swooped down and lorded over your city from on high, I work hard to shape it in a way that shines glamorous, while still respecting it's independence. Frank, I expect alot from you, don't let me down. Also, the same goes for Alex as my replacement, you put together a viable report on why I shouldn't allow Alex to stay in my tower as my protege, and I'll install him as Head of the Department of Maintanence in Arcadia, he'll still have a high position residency here and pay, but not one of leadership of the city." He scratched his chin for a moment, "Miss Graves? You're not an employee, but you're a valuable ally, so your opinion matters."

OOC: I don't mind Dark fitting in, I can't see how, but since he could have the lobby call me saying Snowe wishes to come up with something urgent, but he'd have to come up alone.

Lyn Grave
Mieux Tower, Arcadia

"Drug addicts are bad for business and they cause problems in society. I don't mind occasional use, since many of those drugs have valuable uses. The drugs shouldn't be banned completely, but they should be regulated to help prevent addiction. As for Alex being your protege, I haven't been around long enough to know what Frank and Alex are squabbling about, so I have no objections there." Lyn pondered for a bit before continuing. "As for regulating the drugs, we could enforce laws that prevented dealers from selling large quantities to single people. We could also enforce mandatory rehab for addicts and junkies, who can be put to more productive jobs after detox, since I doubt the junkies are contributing much. There is room for improvement in my ideas, but I think this is a good start."

Director William Snowe

"Is this correct?" William asked with a hint of worry in his voice. The scientist nodded in disappointment. The original Plasma Lamp was fading away and after the system overload during the war on the Federation and the second Federation War, the life expectancy was just one year.

The scientist turned to William. "Director, you need a replacement or all of Antium will black out in one year. I recommend finding a Tesla Coil or acquire a technology that can give a similar output the Plasma lamp is doing now. Our satellites have found a place..."

The hologram of the readings of the Plasma Lamp turned into a real time hologram of the entire Capital Wasteland. "Director, you're looking at Old Olney, the Deathclaw nest of the Capital Wasteland. Although the original Tesla Coil was stolen, once we amass a force great enough to smash through Deathclaw lines, we'll be able to make one with the schematics bound to be there. Until then, Mieux may have an alternative."

William nodded and shook the scientist's hand. "Thank you, I'll go see Justin now." With that, William left the building and, with the Snowe Personal Guard, headed over to Arcadia. He headed to the receptionist's desk. "I'd like to see Justin Mieux...tell him it's about the future of Antium."

Alexander Scalatti

Alex was still seething with anger as Frank followed Justin into his office. He made a fist, but didn't punch anything. Instead, he threw his fedora on the ground and plopped onto the couch.

"ARRRG!!!"

Ann slowly walked over, reluctant to even come near Alex. He motioned for her to sit down. She did, and cuddled in close.

"Arrg! Why can't anything go right for me? Everyone has a [censored] objection to every single [censored] [censored] thing I do!! When I finally get my big break, this [censored] waltzes in and ruins it! [censored] him to hell!!! Everything single damn thing I do goes wrong! Why? Why?!!!"

Ann tried to defuse the situation. "Well, I did one thing right.."

Alex looked at Ann. "And what the [censored] is that?"

"I married a handsome, talented, and honest man. This isn't like you."

Alex sighed, "Its just that everything I do, besides marrying you of course, always goes wrong. Damn, this [censored] here waltzes in, ruins my perfect future, and ruins my dreams of wealth. I am wealthy right now, but the past events that have come up have really drained my cash. War is not good for money."

Ann nodded. "But you are making a ton of money you know, more than you ever have."

"But everyone besides the Lake Federation hates me to the core. Maybe we should move there and live our lives away from here."

"Alex, how could you suggest such a thing?"

"You don't understand! About a month or two ago, my life was PERFECT! No commies, no big responsibility, just living the good life. Then, that stupid [censored] tried to kill you, then I got tangled in a bigger picture, I'm really stressed. I just want things to go back to normal, and Justin was the easiest way to do that. Now, Frank will get MY position, then he'll kick me out."

Ann sighed. "Well, there's nothing I can say about that, just please calm down, I don't like seeing you all stressed like that, you've never been this stressed since the vault days."

Alex stood up and picked up his fedora. "Ann, we're leaving Arcadia, Justin can go to hell. He just missed out on a vault dweller."

Mayor Frank Vercelotti

The Mayor paced directly behind Mr. Mieux as he led him and Lyn into his office to speak. Mr. Mieux stared into Franks eyes for several moments, but he glared back just as vehemently. Come on, say something. he urged in his mind, scraping his teeth together. Finally, Justin opened his mouth to speak.

After his monologue and Lyns reply, Frank began to answer but strangely, a grin curled upon his face. Not a pleasant one, or his own signature grin, but a devilish smile. He then burst into an all out chuckle, before recovering several moments later. To anyone else, it would seem that he was mad. He most likely was.

"Do I have reason for Alex not to run the place? Sure." he smiled. "Can I make sure chems will work out alright? Of course!" his smile broadened. "You want to put Alex in charge? Go ahead!" he began chortling. "You do whatever you like Mr. Mieux, I don't know what came over me. You had everything figured out." he gleamed at the man.

Let the old clown do what he wants. I have my own ways to get what I want. I don't need permission. he continued grinning, formulating a plot of his own. He knew in his mind, that Justin would be dead soon. Alex was always easy to get rid of. And his mind was sharper than both of theirs combined.

Mieux was about to reply when his phone rang, "WHAT!" He said tensely. "Wel-augh- Why in the bloody hell would he need to see me n- no I don't CARE he flew in from Antium, he can wait in lobby. Wha- No, er, send him to the restaraunt, on the house, for stalling time. Why? Because I said so, that's why. Also, post two guards at the door, tell them to stop Alex, he needs to return to the penthouse. Why? Because I'm the one who pays your damned bills. JUST DO IT!" Mieux started off the phone call tensley, and ended it fiercely angry. His face contorted in anger as he slammed the phone down on the reciever, he threw himself into his hair, his head in his left hand, middle and pointer fingers tapping his forehead in silence as he attempted to repose himself, his eyes closed as he tried to calm down. His eyes flickered coldly in Frank and Lyns directions. He then said in an obviously forced tone of quiet calmness, "If there is no way, then we'll have to think of something. But, Miss Graves has given me an idea. If drugs are the backbone of Manhattan, I want top secret research to be done on a drug that has the feeling Med-X produces, but with a 0% addiction rate. It's junkies that need their fix that causes problems. In the meantime, how about if nothing else, we ban Psycho? That chem makes people rage, only to be issued to your soldiers in combat. Is THAT a fair request Mr. Vercelotti?" Mieux then looked at Frank, his face no longer angry, just stressed, "Also, care to explain how Alex is not fit to lead? He's done very well at learning all I've taught him. Is there a reason you don't trust him Frank?"

Mayor Frank Vercelotti

The Mayor heard pieces of Mr. Mieuxs sudden phone conversation and struggled to control his maniacal laughter. Antium? William is here! he realized. Before long, Mr. Mieux was done with his conversation and asked them some questions.

"Yes, I agree with everything you say, Mr. Mieux. And no, I see no reason Alex is not to be trusted, Mr. Mieux." he lied smoothly, still upholding his suspicious grin. "Will the Director be paying us a visit by any chance?" he asked slyly.

Mieux winced in frustration and said annoyed "Oh grow up Frank. I'm asking for your honest opinion, not kissing my ass. If I wanted that, I'd go and talk to my hotel manager." He then said in mild distaste, "As to Snowe, I'd rather he go jump off the old Brooklyn Bridge, but I guess it's important I see him, but we need to clear up this matter. Now, either you give me honest answers, or you'll be here all night."

"You can't leave."

"What do you mean I can't leave! I demand you move!"

"Mr. Meiux has told me not to let you and your wife go.

"Damn you!"

Alex knew that he could not fight the guards. He went back into Justin's penthouse suite. Ann took a seat on the sofa, while Alex took a seat on one of the arm chairs.

"So, what are we going to do honey?" Ann asked, bored.

"I don't have a clue, lets just wait until Frank is done with his little talk."

OOC: Again, this video perfectly captures a mutant attack on a a vault. Remember, noone got dipped in FEV Vats, and the vault door was not blown open. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfyqlMBeQFU

FLASHBACK-Vault 109

The group reached the armory at the perfect time. The mutants bypassed it it and headed for the overseers office. The overseer's mini-gun began to fire, killing many mutants.

The group locked the armory. Alex's dad walked around. "What the hell, there are only batons! We can't fight like this!"

Then, something began to bang on the door. "ME WANT HUMAN FLESH!!"

Alex's dad then noticed a vent entrance. He opened up the vent and placed them in the vent.

"Run, Run!!!"

Ann began to cry, she did not want to leave her parents behind. Her father walked over.

"Ann, go! We will be alright, I promise!"

Then, the door began to bend. Alex grabbed Ann by the suit, He forced her to crawl through the vents.

"ALEX! We're going to die!!!"

Alex kept crawling. "No, we need to head for the overseers office, we can activate the tunnel from there."

"Why arn't you crying?" Ann asked, sniffling.

"I'll mourn later, now is not the time!"

___________________________________________

After some hectic crawling, the two reached the overseer's office. The mutants were long gone from the office. Alex kicked open the vent, and he jumped into the room, Ann did the same.

The overseer was, well, ripped in half. The entire room was full of dead mutants.

"Wow, the overseer got creamed." Ann said jokingly, trying to defuse the tension.

Alex walked over to the overseers's terminal. He typed in some codes. Then, a secret stairwell appeared under the overseers desk.

"How did you do that?" Ann asked as she began to walk down the stairs.

"Well, my dad was always planning to escape this vault, so he found out the codes, he even told me them."
____________________________________________

After some walking, they reached the main vault door.

"Alright, Ann, we don't know what lies behind that door, whatever happens, it was great to know you." Alex walked over, and pulled the vault control console. The door took about a minute to open. As they walked out, Ann took one last look at the vault.

"We should shut the door, no one should ever find out what happened here."

Alex nodded, he typed in a entrance code only he knew, he then locked the vault door.

PRESENT DAY

Alex noticed that he had dozed off for a second. Ann was on the couch, reading a book.

Borgia Manus

Borgia finished listening to Albert's plan to make Salvation Beach a trade hub. It basically revolved around scavenging teams, stalls and the use of loot Salvation had gathered over the years. Borgia had learned to leave the things he wasn't all too talented at to the professionals. After dismissing Albert, Borgia called Anton into his tent.

Anton entered, bowing before Borgia as he did. "How's the day, sir?" Anton rasped. Borgia pointed towards a small plastic chair positioned at the front of the tents, one of two.

"Take a seat, Anton." Anton was a ghoul who basically devoured anything he could get his hands on. He preferred fellow ghouls, but never complained. Many Salvation feared him due to his addiction to a wide array of different stimulants, along with his skill with guns.

"Thanks, Borgia. Mark said you wished to discuss a trip with me?" Borgia chuckled.

"Tonight friend, you, Mark and I enter New Manhattan for the first time. Gain information, perhaps meet whoever runs it." Borgia shrugged.

"That sounds great, boss."

"Good. Clean your weapons and be prepared by midnight. Look like a caravan guard." Anton nodded and began making his way to the exit of the tent. "Wait," Borgia called him back.

"Yes boss?"

"Tell Marie I'll need a makeshift raft."

At midnight, Anton, Borgia (both dressed in combat armour) and Mark (wearing a suit he found in a footlocker in Camp D) set off across the river to the shores of New Manhattan. They couldn't bring a bramhin, for obvious reasons.

Borgia met with Terry on the shore. "Follow me, Borgia," Terry piped, and the trio followed him to a great wall. "Gate's there. Have fun."

Borgia approached the gate, and entered. The city of New Manhattan was built with large, crumbling towers. Where are we? Borgia thought to himself, and began wandering.

"Trader! Trader here!"

Mayor Frank Vercelotti

The Mayor finally eased up and spoke, more from Lyns words than Mieux' urging. He dropped his smile and became serious, adjusting his suit, and gripping Lyns hand tightly.

"You see, Mr. Mieux." he began. "You probably don't know much about what went on here before your takeover but the Gauss Project and New Manhattan were one. The city was prospering, and the people were happy. That man you have outside, he ruined it all. Why, you ask? Purely personal disputes." he informed. "Simply because of his distaste, he helped Lake Federation wage war on this city. My city." he continued. "If he can do something like that just because of his own self, what makes you think he won't do it again? To you this time? He is an entrepreneur, not a leader." he completed, taking a deep breath and looking at Lyn reassuringly.

You convinced yet, you wrinkled sack of caps? he thought, turning his attention back to Mr. Mieux.

OOC: I have to keep reiterating this. He may be over 200 years old, but he's physically the appearance of a man in his young-mid thirties

Mieux rubbed his finger over his upper lip, his eyes furrowed in thought, trying to find the right words to express his thoughts, "Frank, I own New Manhattan for a reason, it is partially out of control, but have you not stopped to wonder why I'm not pushing my thumb on you as much as I could? Because that ownership goes no further than beyond treaties. When Lake Federation came near and they helped pushed Gauss Project out, I forced them both into a treaty, forbidding any form of control on Manhattan island, and why? Because as far as I am concerned, this island belongs to me and New Manhattan, it is our independant island. I won't let anyone demand all settlements bow on their knee come marching onto this island. I've spent to much time and money making people agree to our two cities being respected as independant of any organization. If what your telling me is true, then your saying Alex would allow Lake Federation to come waltzing into Manhattan, and making both our settlements, and in turn our resources, become stamped as Lake Federation property? If thats the case, perhaps Alex should simply be put into the position of the President of the Department of Repairs. He's a good hand, so he'd be useful around here. But if he's willing to sell out a nation for friends and caps, then maybe he is best left at a position where complete control is not his." Mieux heaved a sigh and his tone went from reflective to a tone of sincere worry, "New Manhattan, I can, but won't regulate. But I will ask this of you Frank, not as your employer, but a friend. But you have to find a way to either regulate your cities chems or find a non addictive chem. Frank, chem fiends are bad for business. That night of your party, I saw a couple junkies attempt to violate and kill a girl just for the hopes she had caps on her, chems they got hooked on that likely came from New Manhattan. If this kind of thing spreads, we wont be safe for outside settlements to survive" He then sighed, realizing he was putting it off for to long, he picked up the phone and flashed a 'one moment' finger to Frank. "Yeah, send Snowe up. No, I had some business to resolve is all." He sat back, waiting for Snowe to come into the office.

OOC: Alex isn't that bad.. he only fought the GP because they were turning everyone into slaves.

@ Colonel, you should summon Alex to talk in private about what Frank just told Justin. Zerker won't be on for a while.
