New Manhattan Thread 10

OOC: Mr Stoat, that is the wrong thread, so I copied it and pasted it here.

"Oscar looked at the broken city skyline. Four days since leaving the company of the caravan, he was still on edge. A run-in with a trigger happy scavenger in one of the boroughs hadn't helped. It was obvious that the city was inhabited in some way, more so than other area's he'd seen since the wreck. Smoke in the distance indicated several towns, maybe even small cities within the twisted landscape. There would be other people, of course. But of what type? New opportunities, new dangers, a new wasteland. Oscar looked around nervously, shouldered his smg, and headed towards the city."

John Fairfield

One John's guards walked over with a phone. "Sir, you have call."

John grabbed the phone angrily. The entire crowd went into silence. One of the pilots secretly turned up the volume so that the whole crowd could hear.

"Hello?"

"President Fairfield, Director Snowe would like to meet with you in the Zodiac Tower."

The crowd began to laugh silently. "Are you an idiot? Really? Is your "director" mentally sane? Does he need a [censored] doctor? Yes, he does. Why would I go to a commie [censored] who bombed my city? I would rather burn him at stake! Go to hell moron!" John smashed the phone on the ground.

The entire crowd cheered.

OOC: I felt like my head was going to fall off for hours until about 2 hours ago.

Director William Snowe

"Are you an idiot? Really? Is your "director" mentally sane? Does he need a [censored] doctor? Yes, he does. Why would I go to a commie [censored] who bombed my city? I would rather burn him at stake! Go to hell moron!"

Thomas looked at William and shrugged his shoulders. "Sir, shall we?"

"Absolutely," William said with a smirk that radiated mischief and evil. After a couple configurations with the satellite, the hologram feature was reintegrated after a while of disuse. Using the hologram communications array with a phone line in Laketon, William broadcast his message live to John Fairfield and every citizen within the ruins of Laketon.

"Fairfield, you aren't fit to be President. Yelling and screaming like a spoiled little child when we come to you for diplomacy. Calling us 'commies' when you allow your lieutenants to run your state similar to that of how Joseph Stalin run his state."

Leon "Eclipse" Graves - Mieux's Tower - Arcadia

After being searched by Mieux's staff Leon and company were escorted to the man' office.

Whispering so Mieux's guards couldn't hear. "So. We finally get to meet the man behind the curtain.

The mutant smiled at Leon. "Indeed we do."

Entering the tycoon's office there the man stood, Justin Mieux, ruler of Arcadia, restorer of history, bigwig business man. Leon was quite awed at the man just wondering how someone with his knowledge could be so young.

"Ah, Mr. Graves, and, I'm sorry, you are Mister Garett I believe it was?"

Leon simply nodded toward the individual. Garret said hello.

"May I offer you gentlemen a drink?"

Leon swiftly declined but quickly changed his mind. "If you have any special flavors of nuka-cola that would be splendid."

"I care for a cup of hot tea Mr. Mieux.", the mutant said with a smile.

"I apologize gentlemen, I'm under a great deal of stress, as well as my protege. I've been doing alot of paperwork, so I'm very busy at this precise time. At any rate, let's get down to business. Here is my contract I printed out, but think of it as a rough draft, if it is agreeable, feel free to sign it, if not, then we can renegotiate certain clauses. I do hope this is more than agreeable for you and your friend here."

Garret took several minutes to read over the document while Leon looked around the office. The mutant then whispered something into the young man's ear.

"Mr. Mieux I believe there are a few corrections to be made to this contract. First I will need you to remove your spies and agents from my region in exchange for an embassy in Port Neptune. Secondly I believe we discussed an arrangement on concrete which isn't apparent in this document. Third I wanted to discuss trade of sterile hypodermic needles for stimpaks for Arcadia. Fourth I would like to ask for a few suits of power armor. Not many maybe five or six suits or if you have none to spare if you could provide a location where I may find power armor. Fifth since you have two operational Veritibrds I'm sure you have the schematics for them. I would like to negotiate their use in repairing a damaged bird in Black Sun possession. Sixth I remember during our last conversation that I wouldn't deal with Bridgeport I don't trust them and until I know what Antium there will be no trade there either. Seventh if you are establishing a harbor on Manhattan island I will require another fleet of ships so if you know of a place where I could enhance my fleet that would be splendid. Finally so our chats can be more personal in the future I would request one of those fancy monitors be put in my tower back in Port Neptune."

Alexander Scalatti

Alex was reading a book when some new folk entered the penthouse. There were several humans and a mutant. What are they doing here? He thought as he put down the book and stood up to greet them.

"Hello, my name is Alexander Scalatti, casino owner, trader, and protoge to Mr. Meiux, I am pleased to meet you."

Ann was still sitting down. Ann was very shy, which is weird, considering all of the people she had met over the years. She kept reading the book, not wanting to be noticed.

John Fairfield

"Fairfield, you aren't fit to be President. Yelling and screaming like a spoiled little child when we come to you for diplomacy. Calling us 'commies' when you allow your lieutenants to run your state similar to that of how Joseph Stalin run his state."

The crowd went silent, but then turned angry. The message was partly true. John had united the entire state in less than five years, and had made the lives of its people great. The Lake Federation had turned from a raider hellhole to a bastion of civilization. Due to this, the congress had given John a great deal of power, but he was not allowed to make his son president without a vote. As of today, John had already served two four year terms, and was in the middle of his third.

"Well 'commie' I have a word for you. At least I don't nuke towns, killing innocent people, and I don't go around enslaving people, then freeing them at the last minute, then blaming it all on my best friend. Why not you come to Laketon huh? Why must I go there?"

Mieux simply shrugged, "No worries gentlemen, I have no intention of renigging on my offer of building supplies. Those are listed as 'supplies' by our cities standards, you'll find our terms for what we ship to be vague, it makes it easier to ship things out on caravans. As to ports? You won't need to BUILD anything, repair most likely. On the west side of the island is a docklands, whatever shipping vessels, rusted they may be, you find, you're free to claim as official property of Port Neptune. As to power armor, we have all functioning suits on full deploy, I CAN offer you two unusable suits of T-45d power armor. Well, they arent usable as Power Armor. Some jerk ripped out their servo motors before we obtained them, and we couldn't find replacements for them, however, I'll give them to you, if you fix them, they're yours. As to vertibirds, funnily enough, we stole a copy of schematics when we stole one of ours from the Brotherhood, you can't have them, but I CAN give you a copy." He turned to his terminal on the wall, and after three minutes, a slot on the wall started spooling out papers with diagrams of the inner workings of a Vertibird. Rolling them up and putting them in an architects case, he handed it to Leon. "Done. As to Antium, I do not trust them, but Bridgeport? As long as you dont try violence with them, I'll let business with them to your call. As to agents, they werent agents in the cynical sneaky sense, they were recon scouts, mapping the outer regions, happening upon your business was an unintended, but possibly very fortunate, event. If you will let these men stay in the region for....say a month?, then they will peacefully withdraw, unhindered by your men, and mine shan't hinder yours." Mieux leaned forward, his lower half of his face the only part of his face revealed by the small desk lamp on his desk, his lips spread in a broad, eager smile, "So, is this update suitable to your needs?" He then added quickly, as an assurance, "No need to worry about a monitor by the way, I'll send a scientist with you to Neptune so you can have a terminal installed."

He turned in his chair before he could let Leon reply, he then typed into the screen and spoke into the microphone, "President Sutler, I have to ask, do you have any suits of Power Armor I can use?" He waited for a few minutes, only to get a reply, "PosiedoNet connection 3-D-N-Y-C to Network, cannot be completed. PoseidoNet system for this region is offline." Mieuxs face fell in horror, he spoke to himself, "N...No....Sutler wouldnt just leave....He isn't th-" The thought of what Sutler most likely did donned on him, and his heart sank, he realized now Sutler was gone, possibly dead. A man who could truly help rebuild America. The last known bastion of Enclave in New York was gone.

William smirked as the satellite picked up Fairfield's response. He breathed deeply and spoke into the microphone. "Because I know, if I go to Laketon, I'll be assassinated. However, if you come to Antium, you will not be assassinated as we cannot spark a war with the Federation after the loss of New Manhattan."

The councilors in the room all exchanged nervous glances. Although none of them said anything, they all thought the same thing. Would Fairfield accept?

"So tell me President Fairfield, will you for once act like you have some prowess in foreign affairs? And by the way, if you shall refuse, tensions WILL rise. I may be able to control my citizen's well being but I cannot control my citizen's minds. If they decide they want a war with the Federation...all they'd have to do is organize one giant protest and I'd have no choice but to grant that wish."

John sighed. He needed to be strong, but he did not want to die, yet.

"Alright, I accept, but, I will bring my guards in power armor just for safety, if you make even a move on my life, I will unleash hell." John said as he entered his verti-bird to a cheering crowd. The verti-bird lifted off for Antium.

Senet sat in the bouncing truck in-route to New Manhattan, or what's left of it.

"So Senet" said the man next to her, Corporal John Sanders "Whatca gonna do when we land?"

"Land? We are on land, you cannot land on land" she said with a playful punch
The truck had a cover over it. That was good, it helped keep the mosquitoes out of the truck. Senet took a sip from her canteen, then the truck slammed on the breaks.

"EVERYONE OUT!" barked a man in the front of the convoy.

They all piled out and they knew why they stopped. A collapsed bridge, long out of use, blocked their path.

"GET THAT BULLDOZER PART ON THAT TRUCK!" barked the senior engineer, Staff Sergeant Jack Miles, the bulldozer part was what helped them clear out the roads, but they only put it on during extreme blocks. This was one

It was cleared out quickly, they soon rolled onto a bridge, which led them to a town, or what looked like one, with people watching in awe and shock.

"Tribals of New York! You are now under Canadian Control!" declared Colonel Henry Stevenson

Senet didn't like that, she stood next to the Colonel, and saw many people start whispering, she clenched her gun, knowing any moment they might pull out a pistol or a hatchet.

Mayor Frank Vercelotti - Mayoral Office

The Mayor sat in-front of his desk, face in palms after finishing a pile of paperwork and signing documents when his secretary burst into the room.

"Boss!" he cried, swinging the door wide open, with an exasperated look on his face.

"What is it now, Tony?" Frank grimaced, raising his gaze to meet the man, a look of utter annoyance on his face.

"Sir, it's the bridge. There's a bunch of guys entering the place. Armed and stuff. Everyone's watching." Tony chirped hastily, obviously distressed.

The Mayor casually plopped a cigar into his mouth, simultaneously pulling out a lighter from his pocket. "I'll check it out." he grumbled, lighting the cigar and getting up from his comfy leather chair, leaving the office, and walking briskly down to the main entrance of New Manhattan. "Inform Mr. Mieux, and the Director. If they can send liaisons, it would be ideal. That is, if they don't come down themselves." he called back at Tony as he left the building.

---

He finally arrived several minutes later to be greeted by a couple dozen military type men ahead of a large truck. And just what the hell is going on here? Frank wondered, taking a puff of his cigar. Being accompanied by several New Manhattan soldiers and noticing a couple of mafiosi in amongst the large crowd that was watching the entire display, he felt confident that no harm would come his way.

"Alright, what's the meaning of this?" the Mayor asked one of the more authoritative looking men, sizing him up. "Allow me to introduce myself. I am the Mayor of New Manhattan. Frank Vercelotti." he added, taking yet another puff. "I suggest you all disarm yourselves before we eliminate every last one of you." he said, signaling his own men to take aim.

OOC: Martyr and Zerker, a messenger should come to you IC. I won't control him, so just RP that he's arrived.

Lyn Grave

As Lyn, Gramps, and the troops made their way into Old Olney, they say Lyn's deathclaw, still standing proudly. The wild one was now standing, and took quick notice of them. Lyn wasn't extremely surprised when the wild deathclaw spoke up to her.

"Hsss...Humansss, what are you doing here?" The deathclaw hissed at them.

"The deathclaw that challenged you was one of my friends." Lyn replied.

"The deathclawsss have no ussse for friendsss. You sssound like a beast lord!" The deathclaw seemed ready to attack Lyn, but her alpha male simply growled at him. "Very well...I mussst obey my sssuperior. You will continue living for now, human." The deathclaw spit out the word human with obvious contempt.

"I realize what my forebearers have done to your kind, and I want to make it up to you somehow. You may enjoy the news that I am the only beast lord left. They were all killed." Lyn cringed as she dug up those old wounds, but she needed to befriend this deathclaw like all of the others.

"That isss noble of you, human. You will get your chance to impresss me at a later date. Now, what busssinesss do you have in thisss place?"

"We're looking for some Pre-war blueprints." Lyn answered. With a grumble, the two deathclaws led the way into Old Olney. The younger deathclaws they passed made no move to attack, but still glared at the strangers. Even the matriarch, after a quick glare from the new alpha male, ignored the newcomers and continued tending her nest. Besides a few radroaches, which the deathclaws quickly silenced and ate as a snack, nothing stood in their way. When they neared the control rooms, the GP soldiers fanned out to begin searching for the blueprints. It wasn't long before the blueprints were located, so they made their way back out. Annother uneventful trip left them outside of Old Olney. Lyn left her alpha male with commands to orderthe relocation of the nest back to the New Manhattan nest. Lyn then led the group back to the GP's camp, satisfied with the results.

When the tribals took aim, the Canadians got their trucks in a wall formation around them, and then shot at a civilian, killing him

"This is the first casualty, i assure you, we Canadians do not like to be messed with, i suggest you to disarm before WE shoot you to bits." said the Colonel

"God be with us" Senet said.

Mayor Frank Vercelotti - New Manhattan Bridge

The Mayor gasped as the armed men suddenly shot down an ordinary man to death. No he didn't. he thought to himself as the crowd dispersed and chaos began. "Fire at will." Frank barked, diving out of the way as a barrage of bullets flew out of the rifles of his men and into the bodies of the armed soldiers. The Mayor discharged several shots of his own from his pistol, dropping the soldiers who had killed the civilian.

That oughta show em. he grinned, as the thunder of gunfire finished, and the last echo faded away. No one was left alive besides the leader and a young looking female soldier who seemed to have not fired even once throughout.

"Take them prisoner." he ordered his men during the aftermath. "And bury the dead with the carcasses of pigs." he spat onto one of the soldiers corpses. Mess with me in my town, will ya? Frank gritted his teeth, approaching the two men now held captive by his own New Manhattan troops.

"Take that!" he slapped the commanding officer on the face so hard that his own hand was blazing red. The man, along with the female soldier had been handcuffed, and thus could not retaliate. "Take this man for execution." he demanded, still leering at the man. "And you." he turned his attention to the female soldier. "You're coming with me for interrogation." he added.

She seemed young and quite innocent, unlike a soldier. In fact, Frank found her slightly attractive. Put her in a summer dress and let her hair down. She just might look nice. . . No wait. . . I'm with Lyn. he argued within himself briefly, before heading back to the Mayoral building where they had housed a small room which they used for interrogations. As he lead the way back to the building, several other soldiers followed the prisoner and she was greeted by thrown glass bottles, trash, rocks, and various junk by the townspeople who surrounded them.

"What's your name?" Frank asked the girl, his voice harsh and menacing.

She stared into the mans eyes

"Corporal Senet Massri!" she said with a fear in her voice, she was thankful that she was out of Canadian Army, but fearful of her future

"Please don't kill me! That man, hes a killer! He made us kill tribals all up the Northern Forests! I just need the money!" she said with fear.

She wasn't ready to die, she was far too young.

Alexander Scalatti

Alex chuckled as he saw Frank through a terminal screen in Mieux's penthouse mow down a bunch of wannabe raiders. They were fairly well armed and called themselves Canadians, which was weird.

You see, the tribals of Canada made many attacks on Detroit, and eventually, Johnathan Fairfield had enough. He sent most of his army, and they just completely cleaned house all they way to Lake Simcoe. The tribals fled north, sometimes attacking the new border.

This is what was weird to Alex. How could a bunch of Canadian tribals get themselves to New Manhattan?

Captain Nikov

What happened to Nikov's squad was a blur. At first they were using up their daily pension as a reward during the attack on Arcadia to go drinking and a moment later, Byron got a letter sent by the Don and his squad was thrust into the battlefield.

Nikov sighed and waited for the APC transport to drop them off at New Manhattan. He fiddled around with his M16 rifle, reminding him of the days when everybody was issued an assault rifle variant of the Gauss Cannon. But Antium lost the bunker and all gun factories in Antium had to switch to the regular lead shooters or they faced bankruptcy.

As the APC slowed to a stop, the squad got off and by then, Frank's army finished the job. Nikov sighed and rounded up the stragglers before grouping up with Frank who was dragging a girl to the estate. Nikov's squad headed into the Mayoral Estate following Frank quietly.

"What's your name?" Frank asked the girl. Her response came quick. "Corporal Senet Massri!"

After a bit of babbling, the squad moved around the room, some with the intent to scare and the others just bored. But all of them had one thing on their mind. Why were they here and NOT at the Noctem Bar?

Sonia Snowe

The Antium soldiers headed towards the camp with Lyn's guidance and after a formal salute, they headed to where Sonia was. They bowed respectfully and handed the blueprints to her. "Ma'am, we got it," one of them said. Sonia smiled widely and took the blueprints.

"Yes! Thanks!" She yelled quickly before hopping in her personal Vertibird and flying off towards Antium.

Mieux had recieved the message an armed force was making it's way into the Manhattan region, and Mieux's response, was a quick response of his Securitron and his four elite troops, donning their white painted T-51b Power Armor. The troops, having arrived to late for battle, had marched to Franks manor, hoping to secure the woman. The soldiers parted as the Securitron, who's face was the overly serious looking police face, looked at Franks face for a moment, contemplating it's course of action. "Mr. Vercelotti," it said in it's serious voice, "Mr. Mieux has asked you do not kill this woman, if that was what you intended. Please await Mr. Mieux's instructions, his current orders are non-hostile interogation, he wishes for you to wait until he is available before we move any further with this woman."

Mayor Frank Vercelotti - Mayoral Office

Still smoking his cigar, Frank finally led the shackled woman into the interrogation room, now accompanied by the men of the Director, and Mr. Mieux. He smiled and welcomed both of them into the room to watch him interrogate the woman now identified as Senet Massri.

"Mr. Mieux has asked you do not kill this woman, if that was what you intended. Please await Mr. Mieux's instructions, his current orders are non-hostile interogation, he wishes for you to wait until he is available before we move any further with this woman." chirped one of the securitrons.

"That's exactly what I had in mind, tin can." he chuckled. "Now, everyone here relay all details to your respective employers." the Mayor said to each group of back-up soldiers as he rolled up his sleeves and offered the girl a seat in the dimly lit, cramped interrogation room. The walls were made of concrete and there stood a single creaky table in the center, with rusty chairs on either side. One in which the chained woman sat, and the other in which Frank sat.

"Someone get her some water, she looks like a wreck." he muttered to one of his men who immediately procured a canteen of water, which he offered to the woman. "Now, Senet." he began. "No one's going to kill you as long as you stay honest, and civil." he smiled warmly. His signature grin that could turn any man to his side. "First off, we need to know what exactly your little unit were doing here, how they came to know of Manhattan, and from where you originated." he asked politely, offering her a cigarette in turn.

She's far too innocent and docile looking to hit. I can't do any harm to her. Frank decided, taking a puff of his depleting cigar.

She took the cigarette from him and thanked him

"They...They found out by...by a trader...he said there...there was a city of riches, We came here because we were ordered to. And i come from a tribe nearby Lake Simcoe." she said, still in shock "The commander had a reputation with murdering innocent people, he killed thousands of tribals in the north, the Canadian Government praised him, he just wants a seat in power."

She took a drink from the canteen

"Our unit was scared with that man, we are...or were nicknamed 'The Genociders'. I tired to get a transfer, only for it to get white washed somewhere near Henry.

Mayor Frank Vercelotti - Mayoral Office Interrogation Room

The Mayor smiled as she accepted the cigarette. He dutifully lit it for her. "There now." he chuckled.

"They...They found out by...by a trader...he said there...there was a city of riches, We came here because we were ordered to. And i come from a tribe nearby Lake Simcoe." she said, still in shock "The commander had a reputation with murdering innocent people, he killed thousands of tribals in the north, the Canadian Government praised him, he just wants a seat in power." she continued, taking a sip from the canteen. "Our unit was scared with that man, we are...or were nicknamed 'The Genociders'. I tired to get a transfer, only for it to get white washed somewhere near Henry.

Frank narrowed his eyes, struggling to comprehend exactly what she was saying, be he gathered that she was not here by choice. If there are any interesting points, the securitron should show the recording to Meiux who would pick it up.

"Alright. Well you're free from them now." he said, taking a step forward to pat the young woman on the shoulder. "You're welcome to stay and live here as a citizen if you wish." he offered, remembering having a very similar conversation with his girlfriend Lyn, who was now an influential and important figure in the region. "You seem scared, don't be." he smiled to her once again. "Get those shackles off of her." he commanded one of his men, who briskly un-cuffed her, freeing her hands.

Suddenly, the Mayors shrewd mind recalled the Directors previous warning about the NCR. He decided to verify any and all presence of their troops on this side of the country. "Have you ever come in contact with, or heard of a militia known as the New California Republic?" he asked the girl, his voice noticeably more docile. Frank now sounded as if he were asking a friend a casual question, rather than interrogating a prisoner.

When she heard NCR, she shuttered

"Far too well, we waged a war with the NCR for control of Sasktoon, God i still remember it, it was my first battle, what they teach you in Basic Training doesn't prepare you for all that screaming, all that blood. The NCR are more than just a militia, or atleast then, they fought hard. I remember when a NCR solider almost killed Henry, now i wish i hadn't taken that bullet" she said with a gaze

Leon "Eclipse" Graves - Mieux's Tower - Arcadia

Leon was taken aback that all of his terms had been met as he looked down at the suitcase holding the vertibird blueprints.

"Well Mr. Mieux I'm quite glad we were able to see eye to eye so well. To tell you the truth I had a bad feeling these negotiations were going to be...difficult. Now we still need to come to an agreement on the stimpaks before I sign our contract. I spoke with our scientist and we can't produce rad-x or radaway at current but if you require fixer we have a large supply. Though if we are to come to terms I will need Arcadia to provide unused hypos as my people just can't seem to find anymore of the blasted things." Leon said frustratedly.

Leon cleared his throat before speaking again.

"I've also heard some disturbing rumors of the Enclave operating in this area. What do you know about them and where are they based? As I'd prefer to keep my group out of their gaze. Also if you've the time I'd like to know more about the groups operating in this region."

Garret who had been silently studying Mieux's face while Leon spoke finally remembered something.

"Your face is familiar from my days as a youth before the Great War ravaged this land and I became a super mutant. I also remember coming across several old holotapes and books with mention of you during my travels in the wastes. Though I recall your last name wasn't Mieux but If I'm correct about my hunch your older than I am. Have you found someway to become immortal or are you an android?"

OOC: I will miss The Enclave's posts as I loved the war of egos between President sutler and Mieux. Also Colonel I'm curious why you wouldn't allow Justin to become an android?
