New map size info (Speculation of course)\

Hello everybody.

This is my first post with this account since I've been away from the forums from a long time and I forgot my old account login stuff.

I just wanted to point out that in the gameplay demo that BGS showed at the Microsoft conference (can't post links as you know, search Fallout 4 microsoft e3 press conference demo on YT),the pc is seen fighting in the street of a town that as seen in the Quest objective updates is named Concord. Now,if it is the real Concord,Massachussets, this would push the game Boundaries much further than speculated in the Reddit(Imugr?) post of some time ago.

Also,in the demo the pc seems to walk from the place where you meet the dog to Concord in a short time.A town very close to concord is Bedford. This will ring a bell to most of us as Bedford was speculated to be the location of vault 111 given the presence of the letters ----ORD on the water tower seen from the vault exit.

Yep,looking at the "atom bomb baby"part of the conference, when the Pc is on the Vertibird,he flies over the same gas station where the dog is found and just past the gast station we see Concord(the large building at the end of the straight road bears a striking resemblace to the one where Preston Garvey is in the Microsoft conference).

So,Sanctuary Hills, lies just south east of vault 111 and Concord is just a 2/3 minutes walk down the road.

Don't have the exact source, but Todd absolutely said in the interview after the E3 presentation that the map is not true to life, that it's compressed somewhat to make sure a lot of towns and locations are closer together. I'm paraphrasing, of course, but you get the idea. The real-world locations are there, just the overall size of the map has been shrunk down to fit into the game world.

Yeah,he said that they like to play with scale,i'm aware of that.I'm not saying that we will play in an area as large as the real life Boston-Concord area,I'm just say that even if the scale is something like 4 to 1 we still have a pretty decent playground to get lost in.

I was happy with Skyrim's size, and there's no way it's smaller than that. Hopefully, development for current-gen consoles will help map size as that would be less of a restriction I would think.

I also noticed that in the shot where they show the power armor-jetpack-jump we can see the water tank and the gas station straight in front of the camera. So yeah,I feel pretty confident saying that vault 111 is North-West of Concordia.

According to google maps the distance between Concord and downtown boston is 25 Km,Skyrim was 5 .1 km wide. This might give us a 5:1 or 6:1 scale.

It won't be a exact scale. Wasteland will be more scaled than cities for exemple. It was the same with F3. Different placed had a different scale.

He was referring to the team size, not the map size.

I've heard that it's going to be 3 or 4 times bigger than Skyrim's map, but like as not, that was just idle speculation. It would be nice if the map really were that large, though.
