New marriage options in Dragonborn?

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 8:01 pm

If they add divorce option, they should fix respawn bug. I saw this bug reported first time few days after Skyrim released, still we dont have fix to this bug (this pisses me, maybe others off) I quess Bethesda is time look into this.

...There is no bug, named NPCs are not supposed to respawn. Your spouse dies, they're dead and never coming back.

Granted, I do think there needs to be a divorce/remarriage option. Some rumors about hidden files in the game suggest that it was planned but never implemented. It'd be a nice touch for a future expansion.

I personally don't like a divorce option, they married for life in the old days. Don't marry in haste! Now, I think you should have a re-marry option if a spouse dies

Go to an island mainly populated by Dunmer and we get more marriageable Nords.... go figure.

My thoughts.
I guess if there would be an expansion in Valenwood, Beth would put in two Nords just to introduce new marriage candidates.

Expansion that goes to Ashpit.

Better make the marriage candidates Nords!

A return to the imperial city in ruins would be a nice location for a DLC. The capital of the empire might have more choices for marriage.

One would think an island full of Dunmer would be great to introduce some new Dunmeri marriage candidates.
You think a cosmopolitan city would be great to introduce some marriage candidates from various races? Fool!
Only the Nords of the IC would be marriageable.
To make up for that lack of other races, all of the Nords can be married.
That's how Bethesda thinks, it seems. :P

Bethesda: adds Solstheim, full of loads of Dunmer...

Bethesda: adds new marriage options...

Bethesda: more Nords!

--

I find this ridiculous. What possible reason could there be for them not to add more Dunmer marriage options? There are none! Damn Bethesda!

The DLC seems to be epic, but details like this keep bugging me. What are they thinking?? We need more marriage candidates of every single race, except Nords!
Bethesda: More Nords! The people need them!

Well, Solstheim does have its fair share of Nord inhabitants, so it's not like it doesn't make sense for there to be new Nord NPCs to marry. That said, I was also surprised by the lack of Dunmer marriage candidates, given the opportunity. The whole marriage mechanic in general is pretty lacking in this game; I don't think Bethesda will be putting much thought into it post-release unless they come up with another smallish Hearthfire-esque DLC that expands it, but that doesn't seem too likely.

Lore-wise, not game-wise, the Dunmeri population should outnumber the Skaal by a great deal.
The Skaal are even endangered. I read a book in which a guy from Solitude thinks they will be gone in 100 or 200 years. The ash wastes are destroying their traditional way of life and they are expanding.
A Skaal in the village says that the ash creeps closer every winter.

But Bethesda make this game, and Bethesda already put a tonne of Nords in the vanilla game for us to marry, and in a DLC full of Dunmer, they add more Nords to marry?

The Nords are indeed outnumbered by the Dunmer on Solstheim by quite a bit, but my point was that there is still a fair number of them left and they make up the second largest demographic, so it's not as weird as if they added, say, a bunch of new Khajiit spouses instead.

I definitely don't disagree with you. I think they should have taken the opportunity to make more Dunmer spouses available and it only would have made sense given the location of the DLC, but I think adding new spouses is probably one of the lowest things on their priority list when making new DLCs. No spouses were added in Dawnguard, only one was added in Hearthfire (you'd think they'd have added a bunch in this one given the nature of the DLC), and just three were added in Dragonborn, which is their biggest Skyrim DLC yet.

Yeah, that's right.
Although it svcks to get more and more Nords to marry.

Anyone know if you can marry that werewolf girl rakel? She says the words "It's a fine day with you around" which usually implies that you can marry them.

I thought so too, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Guess she'd rather stick with her pack.

The thing is, it's not like there's even a lack of single Dunmer hanging out at Raven Rock either. :ermm:

There is bug, Aela should respawn after 1 in-game month. This reads even in TES Wiki. Every member of companions should respawn after 1 in-game month.

As a rule of thumb, avoid the Elder Scrolls Wikia like the plague. It's known to make up random garbage, fairly frequently. Use the UESP for anything gameplay-related.

I don't think there are any named NPCs who should respawn. UESP certainly doesn't mention anything about NPCs respawning, nor have I experienced this in 1000 hours of gameplay. Jorrvaskr should respawn, but not the Companions themselves.

There's a lot of potential for an add-on, like Hearthfire but based on marriage. They could add divorce, the chance to 'cheat' and have more than one spouse, and of course more races available to marry. Idk, it's probably wishful thinking, and it'll never happen but oh well. :D

We want Dunmer spouses! :swear: Why don't make the followers marriable, I understand two of them are Dunmer.
But I guess that's how Beth wanted it. Practically no interesting NPC can be married, even if he/she has the same VA as someone who can. Evil. Pure evil. :(

Anyone know if you can marry that werewolf girl rakel? She says the words "It's a fine day with you around" which usually implies that you can marry them.

It doesn't imply that. You get that from practically all npcs you've helped voiced by a certain VA, even if they can't be amrried (Ingun Black-Briar is an example.)

In fact, there IS a bug where Skjor respawns... :P And I know another example of a named NPC who respawn: Movarth Piquine. But those are bugs. Named NPCs don't respawn. And why would they? Dead people don't come back to life...
