New to modding Skyrim

Hi guys, I am an old Oblivion player with 500+ hours of gameplay, both vanilla and modded and I plan to mod Skyrim aswell.

It is a very long time I don't mod a TES game and I don't know anything about new technologies if there are any.

So I'm asking here if there is some sort of guide to mod Skyrim about installation order, patching and compatibility.

Any advice about what mods to install are welcome aswell :)

In particular I like quest mods who add misc quest into the game, like to make an example was Kragenir's Death Quest on Oblivion, and make it more of a challenge.

I was looking forward to perk overhauls like SkyRe, and a combat mod like DUEL, but I don't know about any interation between these two mods.

Immersive Creatures looks fine too, like SkyTEST and Real Wildlife (again I don't know about compatibility).

As for graphics, I would like to change the look of water and snow in particular, but something to make the whole game better looking (without getting too demanding in terms of requirements) would not hurt, just a little upgrade :P

Thanks in advance :)

Modding Skyrim isn't that different from modding Oblivion. Most of the same rules still apply but there are some new ones too. One of the major differences is that there's no such thing as "clean save". You can not remove a mod from existing save due to scripts being permanently baked into the save.

Must have mods for everyone:

- Unofficial Patches

- SkyUI

I suggest using Wrye Bash for managing mods.
