New Morrowind Background on Elderscrolls.com

Post » Sat Nov 14, 2009 9:14 am

If you go to the Morrowind section (or those of the other TES games) on Elderscrolls.com, you'll notice they all have a new pretty looking background.

Interesting. They chose a Dwemer ruins motiff.

It's not the same graphics from Morrowind though. It looks more like a Morrowind landscape with the Skyrim engine.

Or could this be a Dwemer ruin from Skyrim? They're all but confirmed to appear in the new game.

neat, dwemer ruins were probably the best dungeons (outwardly) in morrowind. Or at least the most memorable

It looks like an ingame screenshot to me. Question is, which game?

Looks like Bethesda has two separate projects going to me...perhaps Morrowind will be made as Elder Scrolls VI and it will be set in Morrowind not Vvardenfell....who knows.

I think it's just an artistic rendition, and has nothing to do with any "in-game" footage of any sort.

It's really awesome, though. That's for sure.

I noticed this as well. It's very nice! Personally, I think that Morrowind has the best looking section on the website at the moment.

Given the nature of the Arena through Redguard vignettes (they seem to be stock photos at best), I'm pretty sure that this is just a Photoshop composite. Some renderings of the Dwemer ruin models, with Skyrim-esque fog photoshopped in between them. The landmass in the distance is probably brushed in. It is quite nice, though - almost wonder if it'd be too ambitious to go about trying to recreate a more cloudy and compartmentalized fog system like this with MGE.

EDIT: On an interesting note, I think that may be Ebonheart all the way in the distance on the right side of the image. I can make out a few towers and the wings of the infamous dragon statue.

The towers don't even look like the models from the game.

Nice wallpaper though, and the trailer gave me a reminiscent chill.

Agreed. Sort of an artist's rendering of a Dwemer suburban subdivision. ;)

Very nice! I'm trying it out for my background. Somehow, it reminds me of Myst.

I just noticed that the screenshot gallery on Elderscrolls.com/morrowind also has some interesting screenshots from early development, when the graphics were different and stuff. I had seen a couple before, http://download3.zenimax.com/akqacms/files/tes/screenshots/morrowind_screenshots_0000s_0000s_0007s_0006_77.jpg is pretty well known, but not these.

Ah yes good ol' Bendu Olo, Bethesda's player character from Morrowind to Oblivion, to Skyrim. :D
