New - (To Morrowind at least)...

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 5:55 am

As there doesn't seem to be a separate introductions section I just thought I would post here to say Hi, just started playing Morrowind GOTY edition.
I'm not gonna immediately be asking for hints and tips and mods as I read the sections first and downloaded the bits and pieces!
I found the Unofficial WIKI really useful to.

So far I've been playing (on and off) for 2 days and I'm still in Seyda Neen so I don't reckon I'm going to run out of things to do anytime soon...

Anyway, I know this is a bit "Cool Story Bro" but I figured that an introduction couldn't hurt.

10 years and i still find things to do :D

There are a couple of really good mods out there but i'd probably recommend playing through without anything first. Its not like Oblivion where there are actual ERRORS that NEED fixing with a mod before playing, Morrowind is fairly perfect. Mods just add new things and augment the awesomeness that is already there.

See if any of your steam friends have morrowind, sometimes it can be good to have an experienced friend to ask questions if your confused about something. Or just spam these forums :D

While great, it isn't perfect, so you might consider downloading the Morrowind Patch Project (MPP), which replaces the earlier Unofficial Patch. The more recent Morrowind Code Patch (MCP) gets rid of a few other long-standing issues which weren't fixable by "traditional" means.

You certainly won't run out of things to do anytime soon. First, there's just more to do in MW than in just about any other game I can think of; second, you can't do it all with one character, because some things (like joining a Great House) are mutually exclusive; third, the modding community just keeps adding new content, even after all these years.

Enjoy.

Yeah I've got the MPP and a few of the other patches as well. I also got hold of the official plug ins and zapped them in.

There's so much other content that I had to be a bit strict with myself to be honest, I'm gonna play it with what I've got - (at least at first) - because I don't want to colour the original game, beyond official stuff and essential patching.
Given that I'm still in the start location and I don't feel any great need to leave yet and also the fact that the replay options appear to already be stretching into the far distant future, I think it will be a while before I'm considering moving onto playing anything else!!

I got the hard copy rather than the Steam version, which is nice as I always prefer the disk...

You'll get the quest for it soon enough. It is pretty infamous around here, because apparently there was an abundance of threads asking how to find it when Morrowind first came out. I never had any trouble with it though. :)

I'm glad to see a new face being introduced to my favorite game of all time. Enjoy, friend.

I remember a long, long time ago, around 2005, I rented Morrowind for the Xbox. I was too lazy to actually play it at the time, so I just cheated myself some regenerating health and played through Bloodmoon at level 1. I think I was at level 8 when I finished.

About a month ago, I bought it, and I'm currently experiencing restartitis, unfortunately. I can't ever decide on what kind of character I want, mainly because there's so many different kinds I can make. I'll make a mage character, and then say "But...I wants to have cool armor..." and then I'll make another kind and say "But...I wants to cast epic spells!" and so on. I'm about to start over(again). But this time, I think I have something that'll work out pretty good.
