[WIP] New Music: Dungeons

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:00 pm

Well I deleted all of the changes to the Float script (along with the SignRotate one and the end game ones) using the Enchanted Editor, and the mod still works perfectly. I also found a work around to the battle music issue. If you use FPS optimizer, there are two features of the program that can be used to get around the annoyance. You can select to have no track interruption, so that every song will play all the way through, and you'll only hear battle music if you're in a battle during the switch. You can also bind a key to change the current song that's playing, so that if you do end up hearing combat music and running into the problem, all you have to do is skip 2-3 songs and you'll be right back to dungeon music.

If you need any help on this mod, let me know. I'm probably going to create my own TR version, once I have it done I'll let you know and you can release it as an add on if you want.

I will make further addons when the combat issues have been fixed via scripts.

thanks for pointing me to your nice mod! i cant wait to try it out but the download link isnt working for me.

you still having the problem with combat music? iam no scripter or modder or something but i remember that some new version of MCP features something that stream music no longer getting aborted by combat music. maybe that can help?

damn ... 400+ cellnames? iam playing with the german version and thought i may be translating this one, i will have a look at it with my esp-translater when the download works again.

I don't want the battle music to not start at all, I just want the dungeon music to immediately come back on once the battle is over, as it is now, the dungeon music will also interrupt and stop battle music if it's been going on for long enough.

Unfortunately, there is no way I can fix these issues at the moment, as there is no function in vanilla Morrowind scripting that allows me to detect battle music. If there was, it would be a simple matter of disabling the script on combat, and restarting it once it's over.

Check the scripts for companions in places like Emma's site. They have a method of autosheathing companion weapons after a battle that relies on testing for the (lack of) weapon hit sounds instead, with a suitable delay. That might work for you...

snip

IIRC, I tested the combat detector script a while back, it used methods like those, but the detection was erratic, if you sheathed/unsheathed your weapon, it would detect combat, if the enemy used spells, it wouldn't, if the enemy was running at you ect, it wouldn't work for this mod.

Just a suggestion: I think it would be great if you used the Nehrim dungeon music for this, it's really great

You were asking about stopping the combat music from playing AFTER combat was over, not starting it. That's exactly what the autosheathing code handles by detecting end of combat, pretty successfully if I read their readme correctly. The game seems to detect combat start well enough.

BTW, sorry to hijack this thread, but I just downloaded both your Detailed Tapestry replacers from TES Nexus, and both are flagged as broken files by 7zip (CRC and data errors). I tried a couple of servers but got the same results from both. Is it possible for you to rezip your source and upload again? The problem files are tx_de_tapestry_01.dds and tx_de_tapestry_02.dds. I don't suppose it's a coincidence that these are the last and first respectively in their zips... You didn't split a bigger complete RAR somehow by any chance? Or hit an upload limit at TES? The remainder look absolutely stunning, it would be a shame to lose these...

Send me a link, I'll take a look at it. The problem is if the DM scripts aren't disabled during combat, then they will eventually interrupt the battle music if you've been in battle for an extended period of time. It would be useful to be able to detect combat end though, as it is now, as soon as you exit combat, the Mw Explore music starts up, then you have to wait around for a few minutes or so before the Dungeon Music starts up again.

I have tried downloading them in the past, and the files are fine, try downloading again, or download them from PES. Also, please keep discussion for my mods in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=user_activity&search_app=&mid=474532&sid=ba16817c7e32e2fc61faded74d4170a5 next time, unless there isn't one (I guess a lot of my [RELz] and [WIPz] threads died after the forum change).

Probably the only way to properly detect when you are in and (consequently) out of combat is using MWSE functions. I don't think there's a way to fix that a problem with vanilla scripting either.

Send me a link, I'll take a look at it.

http://lovkullen.net/Emma/Comanion_project.htm#Companion_Project_v31 - discussed 3/4 of the way down the first large section.

I found Detailed Tapestries on PES, but both their link popups stall completely (for all servers) before reaching the download point. I have no problems with any other PES downloads at all, just those two. So maybe checking the uploads isn't a bad idea...
