You really think that Bethesda would go to the trouble of making screenshots and then uploading thumbnails of two photos of a scamp? That just doesn't make any sense. They're not going to be showing off the new scamp design online - they're going to be showing totally new exciting things - like a completely redesigned vampire race. I agree it's a big change, but everything Todd has said about Skyrim suggests that they are taking what they thought was good in previous TES games and changing them to make it better... making the vampires look different and be scarier, etc., seems like a fairly obvious thing for them to do if they were going to include vampires at all.

No... they wouldn't do that... BUT I'M SURE (SARCASTIC) They'd post to pics of the exact same vampire... and I'm ALSO SURE they'd make vamps share no resemplence with their former body and just use a new mesh! And finally they'd totally post two pictures of the EXACT SAME (I proved it and posted a link) vampire, with and without a helmet! Your so right! ITS obvius (EVEN MORE SARCASTIC)

But honestly the mere suggestion that it was actually the Kamal snow demon got me pumped for a moment, no matter how unlikely it is. They attempted to invade Morrowind once after all, warded off by the combined forces of the Tribunal and King Wulfharth, although what were their agendas behind the invasion itself is unknown.

Placing my bet on the Volkihars, though.

Why would that be a vampire? If you get bitten by it do you turn into that? Not likely.. you probably would keep your races characteristics..

Not sure why a vampire would look so drastically different and unlike one of the 10 races.

Isn't it sad this gives us more to discuss than most of the other news released this week?

Also, I guess I'm with the Falmer-people, although I didn't want them to be in the game. That or something new we couldn't possibly know about yet.
I find it odd though that his nose looks incredibly orcish. Could it be those two are related? The pariah folk of the pariah folk?

1. I think the "spider hero" alt text was in reference to the actual screenshot we do have of the character fighting the spider. Not sure about that, but it was discussed in the earlier threads. It would be odd if Bethesda used the same "spider hero" alt text to describe both a screenshot of a hero fighting a spider *and* a strange creature wearing daedric armour

2. I don't mean to be rude by saying it's obvious - this is just what I think. It looks a lot like the vampires from the legacy of kain series. Vampires in TES have always been wrinkled, older, pinch-faced versions of other races - maybe this is an advanced stage of vampirism? And anyways, like people have said, this is a different type of vampire than has ever been shown in TES according to the lore. The Volkihar apparently never venture into towns or cities except to feed - and so that would explain why they look so distinctly un-human: they don't need to blend in...

But on the other hand, vampires have never been something that Bethesda has shown or advertised before release. In the run up to both MW and Oblivion they were only mentioned and I don't think ever shown.

The creature in question doesn't resemble any creature (that I can recall) from any TES game. Unless they're radically changing a creature we've seen before I think it's safe to assume that it's something new.

I don't think it's a vampire, it doesn't resemble any of the other races. Of course becoming a vampire could really deform you in Skyrim, so maybe it's a Altmer Vampire. But I don't think so.

I suppose it could be a Falmer, the pointy ears indicate that it might be a Mer. But the armor looks sort of Daedric, so maybe it's a Scamp like some people are saying.

All the pics look like concept art of course, and this is all speculation anyways. Until Bethesda decides to throw us a bone we're going to be left in the dark. This could be some creature that hasn't even been mentioned in lore prior to now!

Vampires were found wearing daedric armour in MW and Oblivion, and Scamps never wear armour in any TES game.
