New NERD TREK Q&A Released !

Post » Tue Aug 30, 2011 5:13 am

Pickpocketing still seems kind of a waste of a Skill slot. I guess we'll have to see how it actually plays out; I hope they give me reasons to pickpocket, unlike Oblivion.

Oh and the perk for ALWAYS being able to pickpocket Keys seems kinda weird to me. Does this means we might see a lot more locked doors and people actually HAVING the key?
In Oblivion like 99% of the doors were open and/or locked with keys you would get during a quest.

That "Extra Pockets" is pretty decent (100 lb pockets!?), stealing your enemies weapon/armor could turn out good if you don't mind spending the time doing it all the time.

I guess you'll be able to unlock Locked doors that need a certain key, no? Melee needs to kill key holder. Mage needs to kill key holder or can use "Open" on some doors(if open is in). Thief either steals key from person, kills person and takes, or unlocks with tools.

There could be other explanations for that , but I remember pete saying a couple of times on twitter that upgraded armor doesn't look different from standard armor .

I could swear i had heard him say the oppisite but who knows ill just assume im right till im wrong like always either way it wont kill me but if its not true there is a ton of ways to make youre armor distinct when you make it .Because those are obviously the same types of armor with a bunch of little variations.

No, he's mentioned the different pauldrons being a result of Smithing on twitter.

I need a source on that ..... otherwise , he never did ....
Edit: I was just paging through Pete's tweet history , all the way back to August first , he never mentioned that .

He mentions it in the bulletproof radio podcast . But he never confirmed it , he just gave a vague answer and changed the subject .

How far did you go back? If you don't believe it that's cool. I know my armor will be upgraded with Smithing on 11.11.11

Not i its the only true thief skill before the whole thief archetype didnt even have a defining skill.Mage uses magic warrior uses weapons thief sneeks picks locks none of those things makes a thief.....This does.

Sometimes he posts dozens of tweets per day. The tweet we're looking for (and I do remember seeing it) was posted many days ago. Perhaps a week or so.

I checked all the way back to august first .
The only time pauldrons were ever mentioned by Pete is when he was asked about them in the bulletproof radio podcast .
Claiming that he confirmed such a thing via twitter doesn't make it true , he never did .
Believe what you want I don't care but don't make claims without backing them up with proof .

When this was being discussed on the forum i seem to recall a link to it and it was way before the bullet proof stuff but its not something ill argue about as i cant prove it.

I believe they've said you can only have 1 companion with you at a time, though you can have more than one companion.

Have a dog, marry a wife/husband, hire a merc/goon, walk with the town idiot.

If true, then that is good news. I very much hope that is accurate.

Remember when people were raging about Pick pocketing being a skill?

mm it kinda seems like they had trouble picking (decent) perks for it.

"Okay, we can make one to make it easier. What else?"

"More items/gold?"

"Why should they have more things on them?"

"Easier at getting gold?"

"uhh sure, I guess gold is different than items"

"People used to do reverse pickpocket poison"

"Great Let's do that! Three down . . ."

"Steal. . .Steal what they have equipped??"

"let's break that into 2, we only have 3 perks right now. . .Should have one more hmm."

"uhh keys are different than weapons, armors, gold, and items. . ."

"GREAT Keys, there done!!"

Makes me wonder how bad Pick Pocketing is when it's @ 100 if they need some of those perks. I imagine only a thief would try to pickpocket as you need to be sneaking, so it seems odd.

I was so sure that pete had confirmed it on twitter...but looking back it seems that at least personally, I got so caught up in our theories that upgrading armor could only mean a change in physical appearence.

I found this

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1222585-new-pete-hines-interview-at-gamescom-gamespot/page__st__40__p__18377774__fromsearch__1#entry18377774

Which is where I basically confirm it in my own head even though all pete says in the interview is that we can upgrade armor (he doesn't say it chagnes the look)....and at that point it only meant one thing to me : an explanation of the orc pictures
