Why would pickpocketing perks affect other types of stealing?
Because on its own, it's quite a weak skill to justify taking priority over acrobatics, mysticism or hand-to-hand. And now we have three skills that essentially govern stealing (sneak for itmes in the open, pickpocket for items on NPCs, lockpicking for locked items). Seems quite

Exactly. This is obviously a misunderstanding/taken out of context/honest mistake. I'll go by the screens I've seen with different pauldrons/straps. I'll let everyone else freak out and jump to conclusions as usual.
I'd guess that the differences we see in armors are not due to upgrading. Possibly you can choose a specific appearance while forging, but after that, it's permanent.
