A New Noob Server - Learn to play here

Post » Tue Aug 02, 2011 10:10 am

I noticed there wasn't any populated noob servers and thought it would be nice to have a server the noobs can learn the game without being raqed. Since the PUG server is only occasionally used, I thought we can put it to use between PUGs.
Problem is, we have no admins or players that can sit in the server, populate it and help the Noobs. I don't even know what the max allowed rank is. Maybe a good job for sdub and Biteme. They can start a new profile. I know I can't get in there with my level 26. If anyone wants to work the server, let me know.

Great Idea!
The New Recruit max is 10 if thats what you were referring to? Reboots can no longer get on a new recruit server.

EDIT: FYI Cant connect: 10:00 - 10:30 PST
shows in browser favorites, cant connect even by IP. dont have usually have connection troubles
I had to start a new profile. Now I have another undercover profile, lol
I have some players in here now. They love it. They can actually level up without getting raqed. These will be the new regulars on the DDD servers. We can always use some fresh meat.

Hey Geronimo can you put CTR on this server so we can level up quicker? If you still need help with this server I will be glad to help the noobs. It's nice starting over again.
Thanks for the servers and everything you do for the community.

Thanks for the servers and everything you do for the community. The problem with leveling up quick is that you'll be kicked out at level 11, and those first levels go fast!

Good point but I saw a couple of level 10s on the server earlier. I added some CTR maps. Now you have CrashSite, TIA, IA and CTR
I hope to see you on our regular servers once you level up. Search for DDD and you'll see all 4 servers. Remember to put all your filters to All or Any.

Geronimo, I'd love to do this. How would I get on the server? Would I have to make a new account?

I had to create another account. That would be great if you and Biteme could get on there and help these new players out.

You can't set the "rank limit" yourself? I would think if it's your server.. you should be able to set a rank limit yourself? If not, Crytek / EA needs to give admins better control over their own servers. To me, you should have full control over what ranks are / are not allowed.

Maybe set it to 14 players no higher than rank 15, then allow 2 players up to rank 50 able to join, just incase someone wants to give them pointers or tips. Heck, I'm rank 50 and still play like a noob sometimes =)

If you haven't experienced this yet it looks like it's worth noting here briefly:

It is a really good idea to create a new Singleplayer profile and use it exclusively with your new guy, switching back to your SP "DEFAULT" (or whichever) profile when you want to be your regular guy. The reason is that MP data is stored in the active SP profile and you will get unwelcome cross contamination between the two characters. I go on in tedious length about this "feature" here....

it would be koo if us level 50 could get in there and use pistols only.
like level 10 and below use primary weapons. level 11 or higher use pistols (and no melee).
would be interesting imo :D

Since you hit level 11 in about a day, and training seems to be the theme, what about unranked new recruits as a mode? That way, we could create new guys, learn on your server, then go level up in the real world. Everyone would tend to stay level 10 untill they were ready to take that character out of the closet. They would largely go to DDD servers. They would have enough time spent learning to compete against who they find there. Fun goes up!

That way too, SDub, say, could actually hangout and train without making SDub2, SDub3... every few days. Unranked is unpopular, but so is New Recruits, because it runs out of customers! Done by the right people it could be successful. It would also quite naturally feed the pugs. I would tend to login my level 9 just to hang out there, or warm up, or... Its an idea.
