New Nuka-Cola look?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 6:33 am

Does anyone else really not like the new look of the Nuka-Cola bottle? I get the rocket/bomb design, but I just really preferred the more traditional bottle shape. Plus the idea of how those would have been put into cases and such would have been more difficult.

It is different right? I never read anyone talking about it.

I'm conflicted about it. On one hand I kind of like the new, retro "avant-garde" kind of marketing design that probably would have happened, but on the other hand I'd really miss the regular bottles too.

I'd be fine with these being a special edition nuka-cola or something, but a full replacement, not as much.

I think it's silly imo. The previous bottle design of the 50's 60's is perfectly fine.

Doubt those are the actual line of default Nuka-Cola's. Probably Boston-only versions.
Though they could be different types entirely. I heard that Mexico has a completely different Coke using Cane Sugar instead of corn...

I don't like it, personally. If it is the normal design for every Nuka Cola, it will get old seeing it. Honestly, they should have only used that model for Quantum, or what-ever new Nuka they make for F4.

It's a bottle of soda. Who is looking at a bottle of soda and going "This is not a pleasing aesthetic"?

Well their was a soda company in the 50s in Baltimore that made astronaut soda bottles. They were oddly shaped. They were called Galaxy but the company went bankrupt and were never filled. I know the owner of the factory now and he was going to throw them out but instead saved them and found out later that there was market for them so he sells a case every now and again for like $2,000.00.

Maybe it is a throwback to the New Coke and then Classic Coke coming back about a year or so later..

I preferred the old design, but it's really not something that's going to affect me.

This could well be a way to slightly distance Nuka-Cola from Coca-Cola (upon which it was clearly based).

The Fallout 3 Nuka-Cola bottle was in the copyright Coca-Cola bottle shape.

Fallout 4 Nuka-Cola bottles are slightly more distinctive along the usual theme, but are clearly not Coca-Cola bottles.

I doubt we'll ever know if the reason for the change was artistic or legal.

Yeah kinda wierd and cool looking, still prefer the old style.

I was thinking they design it this way so be easier to place on counter or such.

I'm not really bother by it,the only thing that bother me is how quantum looks very dull glow in the trailer.

Anyone have a screenshot? I didn't watch the playthrough vid (don't want to be spoiled too much), and it doesn't look like it shows up in the basic trailer.

Eh, I kinda like the new bottles. Just Imagine that the Boston area was a test market for a new design. I'm sure someone will mod in the Fo3/F:NV bottles in quickly

Based on those screenshots alone, I like the design. It ought to fit the humor of the rest of the game.

Hmm. Okay, yeah. That's a little weird. Not because it's not the same bottle as in FO3, but just because - from a general product design & art standpoint - it looks very awkward. Something's just.... off... about it.

For a regular drinking bottle, that you're going to hold in your hand (as well as from the standpoint of packaging/shipping/storage) it just doesn't seem right.

But maybe that's because I've studied product design and art.

I think they're beautiful, the redesign was a gift from Bethesdas amazing artistic team.

Its a new design that looks obviously Falloutverse and not a exact copy of coca-cola. I welcome it. Also looks like this shape would be a lot easier to club someone over the head with as a last resort weapon, I wonder if that'll be a mod...

Oh ye gods you're absolutely right. With the fins you could get the bottle jammed in the slot if it was too small. Maybe those cheapo vending machines constructed by "El Sleazos Discount Construction" from the pre-war era are all trying to get cracked open since nobody was able to get at them even before the bombs.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about... it feels like the bottle was just designed to look "cool", without much thought given to how it would actually, physically work.
