A new oblivion install, new challenges.

"Recently a friend of mine bought oblivion, so I decided to reinstall to refresh my memory. My goal is to make the game as stable as possible so I could arrange his likewise. When I started the game and exited it crash. At first I didn't realize it because I had WeOCPS, so I started again without Obse. So I went through my load ordercarefully disabling esp's. It came down to xulBeachesOfCyrodiilLostCoast.esp. when I disabled it I get like a 30s hang on the exit but no crash. When I disabled everything else and ran the game with Beaches Of Cyrodiil LostCoast it was fine(no 30s hang or crash). End result, I need to pick someones brain. Thanks everyone for help. "

Fixed "MMM missing meshes (MMM 3.7b3 BSA installed and rename it FCOM_Convergence_Mart'sMonsterMod.bsa) and crash on exit use (Fast Exit 2)"

New Q: 213/255 mods running, do I need to start merging them? and am I missing any compatibility patches?

It has been said: "If oblivion DOESN'T crash on exit, you aren't using enough mods."

Fairly standard behavior, since you use OBSE, get http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22410. It will solve that problem for you.

That's most likely true, but this is from the start menu not exiting from in game. If there's a difference...

Well... Fast Exit 2 would probably fix it from the main menu too. But it is unusual to see Oblivion crashing from the main menu quit button even if you haven't played a game at all, and might be a sign of problems. I have no clue what kind of problem though.

Lot's of people will tell you to use Fast Exit or some such.
That's fine, but your crash on exit is probably due to unclean mods (dirty edits, deleted records, etc.).
Find the "How to Clean Mods" thread and clen your mods.
You need not worry about the FCOM mods, but I know that at least OWC, Bob's, and Frans need cleaning (assuming of course, you haven't).
I suspect the UL mods will be ok as well. And anything by Arthmoor.
And last, you can get rid of the TNR mod. Use the Bash tweak instead as it incorporates the TNR changes without the mod.

Also LAME and RBP without Integration? Heresy, I say, Heresy!

Also I might be wrong about this but I think the bgconjuration compatibility thing under SM might not be doing anything... it just looks off: SM, then a plugin from LAME, then LAME itself... I think the conjuration thing is only for if you're loading SM after LAME, not sure though.

Also RBP includes NPC diversity plugin that does everything TNR does with the addition of new hairs/eyes too.

I'm Well aware that WarCry appears on http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/TES4Edit_Cleaning_Guide page as a mod that needs cleaned, but this is very misleading information and IMO should be altered.
The 32 "Identical to Master" records that TES4Edit shows are simply duplicates of vanilla items and completely harmless.
Nothing shows at all when you run "Undelete and Disable References". .
As with Francesco's mod, Oblivion WarCry is an overhaul mod and as such the alterations are deliberate and neither should be cleaned.
There's nothing game breaking in either of the mods.

Just to note that I (pre-FE2) used to get crashes on exiting whether it be from in game or from a menu, and that I considered it normal behaviour, and saw no side effects.

Ok, mmm is messed up, looking through the Fcom 300 test. I installed mmm b3 by downloading bsa and the latest esp, separate. is there a complete installer now or package?

If using Warcry by itself, the dirty edits should be removed as there isn't anything else that requires them. Though it may not make sense, it has been demonstrated over plenty of crash reports that cleaning mods of dirty edits improves game stability. It won't have an impact on performance, but stability is just as important.

A notation would be warranted though to not mess with those dirty edits in an FCOM setup if those edits are intended to survive alteration by one of the other FCOM components.

This isn't a problem. The 30 second hang you talk about is normal. That time lag will only grow the more mods you add to the game. It won't matter if they're all squeaky clean and undeleted either. Fast Exit 2 serves more than just avoiding the crash at exit. It terminates the game gracefully, the way Fallout 3 does on its own.

That's most likely true, but this is from the start menu not exiting from in game. If there's a difference...


It doesn't matter. Oblivion will hang or crash on exit even with no mods installed, and it doesn't matter what menu you do it from. Using mods just makes the problem worse.
