New PC parts for Skyrim

Post » Fri Oct 14, 2011 3:28 pm

Did I really just hit the buy button on Newegg.com for 578.00 just so I can play this game on ultra settings? Damn straight I did.

New parts:
I-5 2500k intel cpu...will overclock to 4.5ghz
ASRock z68 chipset mobo
8gigs of 1600 DDR3 ram
AMD 6870 GPU. (Planning on running at 1680x1050 so this will be more than needed)
Fresh Win 7 64 bit install

Old parts to reuse:
1 tb Hard drive sata
Ultra mid tower case
Corsair 750watt power supply
Samsung DVD sata drive

Can't wait to put this puppy together and slay some dragons!

Nice, I'm going to be building mine soon too. Probably GTX 570 or 580 and an i5.

I think your lying. Just kidding. I spent 400.00 a few days ago on a 560GTX and a PSU, should be here Friday. I cancelled the monitor though so its 283.00 out the door.

Good job though, Skyrim is going to look amazing!

A GTX 580 would be overkill, and probably even the GTX 570. I'm sticking with my GTX 560 ti as it should get the job done nicely. Just built my new gaming rig over this past weekend. Works amazingly well so far =)

Its a question regarding the game to pass time. This is nothing but a list of hardware.

Thought about going GTX but I'm an AMD fan and since I couldnt buy their new CPU cause Intels amazing bang for the buck...I at least got a GPU from AMD. :)

There are other people who are upgrading their PCs specifically for this game. This is a thread for people to talk about that.

Way more than people couting the steps to the TOTW.

You can OC your 560 Ti pretty well, like I did, to almost match a stock 570 anyway.

Considering a 8800/9800 is probably about where the recommended PC specs are going to be, yeah I would think so.

I was planning on getting it but the delays were getting annoying so I just went with the sandybridge instead.

I'm thinking I won't even have to overclock to that extent. So far it runs everything I've thrown at it at a modest factory overclock.

Not overkill considering the eventual graphical mods.

@KD

ya it has been released and it was WAY overrated/overhyped doesn't even come close to a i7 and only a i5 when its overclocked up the ass on the right motherboard and svcks up almost 3x as much power xD

Yea its a really good card, reminds me of the 8800GT, was the best bang for the buck back in its day when I got them in SLi.. I still have one of em lying around somewhere :whistling: :twirl:

Going to say that it is still overkill. The GTX 560 ti runs games like Crysis without a hiccup. I don't think Skyrim will bring it to its knees.

Well I waited for Bulldozer to come out hoping it would amaze but alas, I was disappointed. Cant wait for the 2500k to rock my socks off. About the time the new excitement of the PC starts to wear off, Skyrim comes out. Its a 2 month high...Woot!

Not even some troller is going to get me down!

Crysis 2 DX11 sure does, as well as Witcher 2
