Can you still use the infinite bottle caps exploit with vendors?

I'm on the PS3 and the game runs so much better now. Which is good because I've become addicted to this game despite all my earlier complaining.

Anyway, it hasn't frozen once since the patch and when I'm running across the wastes I don't get as much of that annoying stopping and starting. It's still there a little bit, just not quite as bad.

I don't know about the areas that were really glitchy for me in my first game because I haven't been to them in my second game yet.

Does anyone know if they fixed Veronica? I just got her as a companion and I really like her, so I'm hoping she fixed.

They did. They also did some extensive fixes as far as her companion quests (including all of the triggers) so in general she is vastly improved.

MY PLASMA RIFLE IS JIGGAWATTS!

Finally!

Reloaded an EW save with 100 EW skill to check some figures from the Pipboy

Laser Rifle: ~23 DAM / 1 MFC (estimated due to Laser Commander perk affecting DAM)
Tri-Beam: ~23 x 3 DAM / 3 MFC
Plasma Pistol: 35 DAM / 2 SEC
Plasma Rifle: 50 DAM / 2 MFC
Q-35: 42 DAM / 1 MFC (probably appeal to ammo-conscious/hardcoe players)

However, suspect they overlooked the Laser Pistol: no damage increase!

Laser RCW seems unaltered, but I'm fine with that since IMO it was just a shade on the low-powered side in vanilla FNV; with the -DT from ammo it will do just fine.

Only bad thing about the EW boost:
1) EW Fiends will pose a much greater threat
2) Starting a brawl in the Silver Rush is obviously highly dangerous (in vanilla was merely dicey).

What does the beam-splitter now do to the Laser Rifle? Is it just 23 x 2 or does it still lower the damage of each beam (aka 15 x 2 with the new base damage)?

Also, the AER14 is pretty baller now, 36 base damage (41 with Laser Commander).

You must be kidding - my game is much *less* stable now. Just went to Gunrunners, and was happy to see that you can now buy boxes of .40-.70 Gov cases. So I buy a couple boxes, and check my inventory. I have 50 additional .40-.70 cases, but the box is also listed in my inventory. So I try to drop the box. Crash! Well, I guess I won't do that again ...

Reload, back to Gunrunners, buy boxes of .40-.70 cases. Try to open my inventory - crash! For the very first time, I find myself thinking, "I'll be d---d if I ever buy another game developed by Obsidian."

Surely I'm not the only person who's encountered this?

I'm on a PC, if anyone cares.

That's an old crash and strangely one of the few repeatable ones in the game. Only happens when buying more than one box of cases, of the same type, during the same barter transaction. Try buying the boxes one at a time, exiting barter menu after each purchase.

@ Kor'Ah

Ah...I see. Thanks. Yes, you're correct, it doesn't actually affect your carried weight number. Now that you said that, I have the feeling I knew about that already, but had forgotten. I'm going senile I guess.

Those ammo boxes shouldn't work like that in the first place. They should most definitely be turned into the actually ammunition upon acquisition.

Hope this gets fixed.

I'm happy that many bugs have been fixed, but the biggest one for me is still present. The game crashes every time I get near The Thorn. You might've read about the bugs occurring INSIDE the Thorn...well I can't even get that far. Hopefully Devs read this.

Here's a link to the thread with a video (myself and Azumoth have the same problem):
http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1145092-consistent-crash-at-thorn/

In FO3 there was an issue like that at the Jefferson memorial, got affected by it once myself.
Seemingly randomly the cell got corrupted and there was nothing you could do about it.
Only way to continue MQ was using console commands to teleport there.

Maybe this Thorn crash is similar to the JM crash, in that case it might be an engine issue and probably is not going to get fixed.

If it's a corruption, maybe I can fix it with a reinstall. Though either way I hadn't considered using the console to get them. Thanks for the idea.

Stupid engine.

At least my crash was linked to the character, so I guess it was the save that was corrupted, not the game data itself. But you can try.

It'd be useful to know the exact changelog.

That did it! I made a new character with god mode and all map markers enabled to get closer, and then I walked the rest of the way. Now it works fine. It was only that character that was corrupted, which is fine since I wanted to start over anyway (though still disconcerting as I don't want a repeat of the bug...).

I don't know if anyone's interested in this, but I noticed that companions don't seem to have the same SPECIAL anymore. I don't know if they'll get higher as they level, but Cass/Boone, for instance, aren't 10 in anything anymore. Their classes have been altered. How this affects them in terms of any scripts etc. I have no clue.

So SuperSniper (Boone) has 7/7/5/1/3/7/6 (used to be 10/10/5/1/3/10/6) and CassClass has 7/6/4/4/4/6/4 instead of her being 10/10/4/4/4/10/4

Raul no longer has 10 in anything either etc.

Edit: Also under 'leveling data' it used to be Calc. Max 20 and now it says 40...and their level multiplier seems to have decreased from 1 to .75

Someone made a plugin with all the differences between the old patch and this one, consider it as a changelog! Just open it with FNVEdit.

Now I just wish someone would add all of that to the Vault ...

This is a really stupid question but how can I tell which game version I've got? I assume it's updated but would like to be sure.

I saw that post but I have no idea what FNVEdit is....or if it would be in a readable format that would make sense to a dufus like myself. I do have the 1.1 .esm still so I could try to compare it. Where does one get FNVEdit?

Right here: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34703, basic usage is pretty self explainatory, but there's a full manual here: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38413

So, I take it the 360 version of the game has been completely forgotten about, then. Because it is taking considerably longer to release the patch.

The giant "EXPERIMENTAL" and "If you don't know what FNVEdit is, you probably shouldn't be using it yet." warnings don't install confidence to a newb. If I install this just to look at stuff, it won't harm/mess with the actual game/files, right?

Of course it hasn't. You should know about Microsoft's certification. The blame is with them now, no-one else. Gstaff said most likely today or tomorrow, it could quite possibly be the end of the week. Still, I'm hoping for today or tomorrow. :)

No it doesn't. If you make changes it will ask if you want to save them periodically and when you quit, just answer no and you as good as when you started. Also FNVEdit makes a backup copy of every file you modify, so if you accidentally make changes it's easy enough to reverse. Haven't encountered any bugs with it either.

As a long time mod user with various Bethesda games, that tool (And FO3Edit and TES4Edit) is essential in making extensive load orders work together.
