New Patch 1.2 Released

Post » Thu Oct 30, 2008 12:13 am

Just played a new play through with the new patch and as far as I can tell things are going wonderful.

The most notorious bugs have been fixed and I noticed MANY quest fixes. I'll just list out a few that I feel like putting ^_^

- Reload bug (lever action [cowboy repeater, 357 revolver, etc]) = *FIXED* No more getting stuck in VATS -OR- during real time combat.
- Ghost town Gunfight = After talking to Trudy about Ringo and the Powder Gangers, the quest now starts and it waypoints you into the gas station.

- No more crashes. So far for me :D
- I don't know if its just me, but Vats accuracy is better than before, and perks seem to apply/work now.

Thanks Bethesda/ Obsidian! :D. At last, a patch worth downloading.

Are quest items still stuck in your inventory even after you have completed/failed the quest? While not game breaking this is probably one of the bugs which annoys me the most, it is also present in most Bethesda games, and it never seems to get patched. Until now hopefully.

I'm happy that many bugs have been fixed, but the biggest one for me is still present. The game crashes every time I get near The Thorn. You might've read about the bugs occurring INSIDE the Thorn...well I can't even get that far. Hopefully Devs read this.

Here's a link to the thread with a video (myself and Azumoth have the same problem):

Did they also fixed the companion bug where switching to passive mode would do absolutely nothing?

+ .45-70 Gov't ammo is available is greater amounts. Just picked up 90 rounds from gun runners.
+ Performance improved a good bit for me.
+ Evil reloading bug is now squished.
+ Energy weapons are looking better now.
+ "That Gun" got a 25% DAM buff, or Cowboy perk now works with it. 23 DAM with regular ammo, 22 DAM with AP, and 40 DAM with HP.
+ "Weapon Repair Kit" crafting requirements lowered.

- Weapon mods that alter weight or CND are still borked
- The Sniper Rifle and Golbi may have been over-nerfed. They needed a nerf, but damn...that much?
- Guns still out preform Energy Weapons by a wide margin.
- Explosives are just "lol" still.

It still crashes randomly, I can tell you that much. Not as often I'll grant but.... "NV has encountered a problem and needs to close" still graced my desktop after an hour of testing. That's with an existing save though - I have yet to test it with a new game.

Patch broke a lot of NPCs for the PC version. Most that I have seen that spawned with weapons that were modified by the update (the Van Graff guards were the first I found that had this problem) all spawn with broken weapons so many of them are just running up to punch you unless they have another functional weapon to switch to in their inventory.

When does the 360 patch come out exactly? 'This week' is a bit cryptic.

They did *not* need a nerf. Too much [censored] [censored]ing about those things being overpowered. Overpowered. In a single-player game. [censored] ridiculous.

Oh well. [censored] it. I should still be able to kick ass with AP rounds loaded in those things.

AND the [censored] Abandoned BoS Bunker is STILL LOCKED. :rage:

Explain please. I just put a weight mod on a sniper rifle and it seemed to work fine at reducing the weight. I saw nothing weird about it.

Overpowered. In a single-player game. [censored] ridiculous.

While I think the Sniper Rifle WAS too powerful relative to the rest of the guns in the game, I do actually agree with this. It is, after a single player game...what you do in the game does not affect another players in any way. However, some people did not want to be forced not to use the Sniper, they just wanted it to be a little less Uber. Now, people on PC can alter weapon stats to suit them, but console players cannot. Therefore I don't think it's unreasonable to change it.

Whether they changed it too much is open for debate. I'm still finding it to be not much of an issue.

ummm...Drop the sniper rifle and check how much weight you light by? The game might say 3Wg, but it may really be 8Wg after all.

My test case was the "Little Boy" kit for the fatman. Should drop weight by 15....the effect in game was zero despite the ingame info reading it had lowered the WG to 15. I dropped the fatman and my carry weight lowered by 30. Looking "borked" to me.

For mods that add CND to a weapon you can't use a Weapon Repair Kit on them. CND can't be raised beyond 66% this way and if it's over 66% using a WRK will lower the CND until it's at 66%. I expect my new features to work if it's not too much trouble.

Wouldn't know until 360 actually gets the patch... :brokencomputer: Seriously, this is getting out of hand. PS3, Steam, yeah you got yours. Enjoy it, but us losers with a 360 are stuck until "We'll let you know"... :cryvaultboy:

hehehe they fixed the radio stations now they play more songs!!!!

Also it seems to me the game is rendering things differently this time.. before I had alot of odd render issues in the background and buildings didnt render at all till closer in.. now without any settings changes its all changed and looks better.

Game is DEFINETLY running better for me so far.
