LOL a feline companion would be very cool!

Against all logic based on the lore, I'm hoping for a baby dragon

Another great interview. Pete is earning his paycheck!!!

I like the companion news. He also said you can hire mercenaries which is cool. I never wanted more than one anyway, it makes the game too easy and they rob me of getting my XP. One is just right without clogging up the hallways and such. I like how they have made it so you can direct them better now and give orders in real time it sounded like.

I think on the DLC's he simply meant they are going to do what people want and what makes sense. To me that would be maybe a couple small ones, a couple medium sized ones specific to specialty interests like werewolves/vampires, and one major expansion.

Player houses finally confirmed, (to me anyway) yet it was obvious he was holding back some information.

220 perks, seems like a lot to me. Especially if you can only pick 70 at max... and who's going to get to level 70? I usually quit my oblivion characters at level 25-35, but obviously leveling has a bit more to offer now so maybe I'll play a few higher.

150 dungeons is a lot as well, so I'm not worried if it's 120, 150, 180... doesn't matter. I'd rather have 20 that are hand crafted and memorable than 200 copy paste dungeons. I think we're all going to be in for a nice treat having 150 which are hopefully unique and memorable to some degree.

So the bandits with rare armor has been fixed, I haven't heard anything about this so its new to me :D

220 perks? I thought there was 280

The guys from the Dutch footage also said 220. It's still a lot! I'm not disappointed.

When were dungeons ever 180? It went from over 100, to 120, 130 and finally 150 as far as I know.
And technically, over 220 perks could still be 280!

Also, the 280 number included the perk ranks. For all we know, 220 might be without, so they actually increased the number of perks! :D

Now that is the kind of thinking I like to see around here.

Same here. Though I'm more of a mudcrab person. :teehee:

If all 18 skills have 15 perks, we're at 180 perks. Think it's safe to assume that all 280 includes multiple perk ranks, and special kinds of perks you may not be able to pick on the star map or that companions provide or whatever.

They are STILL in late Alpha? Maybe they would have less buggy games if they would allow more time for Beta....

I really like the fact that pete stated that you stop leveling when you run out of skills and that you keep getting perks each level until you max out all skills. i like that very much.

Edit: hang on a sec when did booty get promoted to moderator... i could sworn (s)he was posting a replies in the main 40min quakecon video threads

So if there's no hard level cap and you can essentially keep on levelling. There's nothing really stopping you from getting 100 perks is there?

I know he said the most people would stop at around 70 or that it would be very difficult to get any higher. However, he didn't mention this was 'impossible' right?

Not that I plan to do so, I've never made it past about level 30 :(

He said over 220 perks, it is most likely a rough estimate, since 280 is over 220. Also, 280 includes perks, and their levels. Still, 220 is a lot.

Blood/gore?

I think he meant that they would like to release the game without cutting out violence, which Germany allows them to do with Rage, as they are allowed to do so with the U.S. and U.K. market. At least, I think that's what he meant... I hope they didn't cut any desperately needed fantasy violence from the U.S. version.

Anyway, I actually have a question. Pete mentioned that the interface differs from the PC to console version in that the PC version chooses different items and abilities via hotkeys while the console chooses these through the directional pad. Does this mean that, if I were to use an 360 controller with the PC version, I would still have to choose hotkeys? Or does the game recognize the controller and allow d-pad assigning? I'm totally confused here...

I'm really hoping I can play the game like the console version plays with a controller.

The favorite-menu is in the PC version as well. You will have no problem with a 360 controller.

Oh, okay. So, there would still be d-pad "favouriting" on the PC version if played with a 360 controller?

why is everybody stuck on EXACT NUMBERS? does it really matter that much? are you going to COUNT every single perk and dungeon in the game?

your maths is quite a bit off (18 X 15 = 270) what you just said was 18 X 10 = 180.

At 220 perks we still get 12.22 on average per tree, so as long as they cut the number of ranked perks i'll be happy. i'd hate to go into stealth and find 3 perks each having 4 ranks >.>

'Over 220' means anything between 221 and 227. Any higher and he would have said 'just short of 230'...

I believe it is 16 perks per skill which is (18 * 16 = 288) Hey the more the better right?

Yeah, but the point i was making was hopefully there will be far less Ranked Perks (1/5 sneak damage "you get +10% more sneak attack damage") and more things like Shield Bash, 10x sneak damage with daggers, lightning bouncing around rooms and all those cool things.

also, in the interview he said 220, which is why i said the 12.22 per tree as that would be at the 220 mark. remember, the more perks they have, the harder it is to make unique perks and start adding in ranked ones... which i hate.
