NEW Pete Hines Interview at Gamescom

Post » Sat Aug 20, 2011 10:51 am

New Pete Hines interview that I asume the fewest of you have seen, at least I didn't see it before recently.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RixZb7kFTGg

-btw-, I heard a little talk about cooking, they said that there is a new system for cooking. You can add ingriedients like meat and herbs together and get health benefits and other kinds of benefits. Also: mining, upgrading weapons and armour, crafting, improved customization, bigger team, lots of dungeons, random encounters (?)

Something that I've noticed: The background music - do you think it is from Skyrim or just some random adventure/RPG song?

Enjoy!

edit: for the ones unable to watch this on YouTube - http://gamescom.gamespot.com/story/6329666/gamescom-2011-a-few-thoughts-from-bethesdas-latest-skyrim-demo. Comment if this is also unwatchable (!)

Can someone post a basic idea of what the interview is about? Apparently this is blocked in Japan - why I don't know.

Gah! Why must every interviewer ask that infernal question at the end?

Nothing too new, but it's nice to hear that they're making items that are useless at first glance have some actual use (besides as decoration). Although it may cause me to start hoarding...

I linked another link for you to watch if you couldn't watch it, if that makes sense. Check the OP one more time. xD

Crafting sounds awesome.
I'm not sure if I will mod healing food out or not. Doesn't really make sense, but yeah.

It looks like the basic potential is there for someone to be able to develop one hell of a cooking and eating mod somewhere along the line.

Thanks for that. Odd that the content is blocked via Youtube for me, but not through the actual website that put it up to begin with. Not complaining, just... dur... why? lol

I like how they put that video in place - as someone else mentioned, the interviewer creeps me out, and that saved me from having to look at him.

And Pete's tired as he has a job this week that centers around international travel to multiple locations with little downtime between stops. And that svcks. Probably why Todd handed off the reigns. :P "Oh, but they like you much more, Pete..." lol

I wonder if BGS got some ideas from Fallout New Vegas's Survival skill in terms of cooking.

Cooking sounds lovely. More complex than I expected at first, which is a good sign.

But the part about location markers made me cringe ._.
Uh, I'm only grateful I'll be able to reduce their detection range with Creation Kit. It was horrible in Oblivion seeing all those undiscovered locations on the compass from miles away. Completely killing any fun from exploration and discovery.

"Oh my God!!! How dare they ask a question about the release date. I mean it's not like anyone other than hardcoe fans are going to watch the interview!!!"

I understand everyone's frustration with repetitive questions, but c'mon guys. That's professional journalism. He asks the question for the undoubtedly numerous amount of people for which that interview was the first thing they heard about Skyrim. I love how everyone gets so angry with proper gaming journalism.

It's just a standard thing they do, all the major website's and magazine's ask the same thing after every interview for every game.
