New Pete Tweet Confirmations!

Post » Thu Sep 22, 2011 10:24 am

Pete took the time to answer more fan submitted questions today. Some of the information has been previously confirmed; however, some small details might be new to quite a few of you.

The 3rd person alchemy and cooking feature stirred a huge debate on my previous http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1232276-alchemy-cooking-done-in-3rd-person-pete-tweet/ which reached its post limit, so I'll lead with that one and follow with the other answers he provided today.

While cooking and performing alchemy you'll be looking at the cooking or alchemy interface WHILE watching your character perform the task in the background in 3rd person (like the alchemy picture in OXM).

Q: @DCDeacon In the new OXM it shows a screen of Alchemy in 3rd person (which looks amazing). Is Alchemy only 3rd person now, or 1st as well?

A: @yanks4champs it's in the background since you're really just looking at the alchemy interface. Same w cooking, etc

Q: @DCDeacon Ok cool. So it's like the UI and when you're buying/selling from a merchant? Its a menu overlay over the real time background?

A: @yanks4champs right. So instead on just a menu w no backdrop, or just a table in 1st person, you see yourself working in the background

NPC's will open doors and then phase to the interior/exterior.

Q: @DCDeacon Will NPC's still phase through doors, or do they actually open them?

A: @Black_Chamber_ Oops, didn't finish. Both. Since int/ext are a load, they phase after they open the door.

Your dog companions will wait for you 'somewhere' to be retrieved later

Q: @DCDeacon thanks, I guess what I was really trying to ask is what does the dog go when he's not in my "party". Does he wait somewhere?

A: @Jadis232 yes, he'll wait somewhere in case you want to get him later

Mercantile is now part of Speech

Q: @DCDeacon oblivion mercantile was a bit pointless in my opinion, have you done something to make it more 'usable'

A: @micky508 It's now part of Speech (your ability to haggle, so to speak).

There are 'more than a few' types of dragons

Q: @DCDeacon nevermind fish. how many different types of dragons are there pete? :)

A: @cream33lod more than a few. :-)

There are NO spears, polearms, etc despite what a recent article stated

Q: @DCDeacon Can u confirm or deny the existence of polearms, spears, etc in Skyrim? Been hearing mixed answers. I need something official.

A: @JoshuaEastham No. I think that came from a preview that seemed made up. I don't think that author has played the game.

You CAN NOT combine different spells

Q: @DCDeacon pray forgive me but i want to clarify this.. can you combine 2 different spells ex. fire and frost to form a unique spell?

A: @DelanoReidar no. You can't combine diff spells

The main menu featured in the QuakeCon demo footage is the final in game menu

Q: @DCDeacon Was the main menu at the quake-con demo the final main menu for Skyrim? (the one with the dragon symbol and smoke surrounding it?)

A: @1Apexman1 yes

Once again it is confirmed that there is much more content then MW or OB

Q: @DCDeacon oh, and one more thing, you've said the map is similar size to oblivion, but what about the amount of content inside the map?

A: @micky508 Much more than oblivion, or mw.

A few other previously confirmed details were re-confirmed. You can not change any aspect of your character after character generation (including hair, face, etc), and there are of course several types of fish.

I think the new alchemy/cooking setup, and the door thing, and even the menu, are awesome.

Considering the previous one reached the posting limit and the fact that new things are confirmed on his twitter daily I figured a few people would enjoy the new information and details he gave today.

NOTICE: Pete Hines has once again evaded answering the question about polearms. He just says,"it looks like they havent really played it" instead of a simple confirmation. The question was "can you confirm..." his response: "no. That article doesn't seem to be written by someone who played the game". The question was NOT a yes or no question. It was confirm it or deny it. He said no.. Which means neither. Hes not being very straightforward with that question. Methinks he doesn't know for sure.

So more 3rd person for 1st person players...?

Any time new information is found through his twitter page I'd expect some one would make new thread to discuss the relevant info.

I think I will quite enjoy being able to watch my character work while in the crafting menus. Doesn't really matter to me if it's first or third person at that point because menus are menus, and if Oblivion had that giant render of your character in its menu, why can't Skyrim have a bit of the same fun?

Well, at least the NPCs will actually open the door now before Scotty beams them away. However, if the NPCs will actually open load doors and walk through them, why can't they just close the door behind themselves so the game can silently move them to their new destination and we don't see them get beamed? Unless they are not actually going through the doors....

So more 3rd person for 1st person players...?

Yeah, if it is in the background, I can deal. When I am working in alchemy, I generally don't pay attention to the background.

It's just your character in the background of a translucent black menu filled with letters. Horseback and Finishing Moves are very worse than this.

Todd = The result of Imperial plus a Nord with a Imperial Father and Bosmer Mother. Maybe some Globin accent.

That wasn't an evasion, he was pretty explicit.
