A new playable race?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 4:06 am

I think it's quite possible (I mean, Imperials and Orcs where added as playable races as late as in TES III: Morrowind). Would you like to see a new playable race, or are you perhaps satisfied with the ones we already have?

I think the ones we already have give enough diversity to satisfy everyone. They are well established.

I doubt it. Regardless, I hope they don't anyways.

There are so many great races in TES lore I'm quite sure they'll add more either in Skyrim or the next. Akavir has many opportunities, as well as some races native to Tamriel. It wouldn't be so hard to add Imga for example, and give them a bit deeper lore.

I guess I wouldn't mind seeing a new race (so I voted Yes), but I can't think of any new playable races, unless people from that obscure island to the NE of Tamriel (the name I cannot recall) came to Tamriel peacefully. But that's all snake-people and Ape-men and whatnot.

I don't know enough about the lore to think of any new plausible races... but if there are any, why not...

in addition that.

That Continent is 4000 miles away.

Dragons. not Akavir.

We don't know the timeline, but its close...(Trailer referencing Oblivion Crisis and not anything that happened in the books)
------------

I'd like the play the varieties of each race, but skyrims setting and announced situation doesnt call for it...

Naw. This is more of a chance to put an empathize on Nords. While they are at it, the dev should still enhance the current 10 race rather than just adding another one without warning.

No. There is no other province, no other civilization as big as the existing ones.

I dont know about a new race as such, but maybe races already in the game players havent had acess to yet, like all of the humanoid kahjiit breeds or perhaps akaviri breeds if they end up in the game.

No. Just need to make the current races play more distinctly from each other (other than cosmetic and skill/attribute bonuses & a few lame powers).

Adding another race would just [censored] up the lore wouldn't it and force them to create a distinct appearance for them (it's a pain to differentiate Bretons and Imperials just by looks). There is enough diversity between the races in terms of fighting styles and such. Let BGS expand on the lore of each and tweak each races to perfection. (I'm looking at you, Bosmers...)

I'd like to see more Khajiit breeds.

I could imagine that you might see some races that have not been in the game before, but probably nothing new to lore.
I also doubt they will add any more Playable races. They are perfectly balanced as it is.

When better to introduce the 11th race than on 11/11/11 ? :whistling:

Imperials and Orcs already existed in past TES games, they didn't come out of nowhere. But now we have a playable race for each province pretty much, so it wouldn't make sense to add new ones now that just pop out of nowhere.

He meant that they weren't playable until Morrowind.

Trailer referencing Oblivion Crisis and not anything that happened in the books

well, the trailer says something like "in the time after the oblivion gates opened", which uses oblivion only as a reference of time, not a reference to the events
The same rumor of 200 years has been going around, so I'm inclined to believe it's solid information, but look at it this way
how many people are coming into TESV after playing oblivion compared to the number of people who read the book?
if they mention lore 95% of the people don't know about, it will cause far less excitement and speculation than if they do mention something they know

Dwemer weren't particulary short. About the average aldmer height iirc. There's always Bosmer if you want to play a shorter race.
