New Races for the next Fallout?

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 11:19 pm

Yeah I could see this easily. Just depends whether Bethesda would put the time or effort into it.

1. Ghouls. Formerly feral, born ghoul, preserved marked men, glowing one or otherwise.

2. Super Mutant. Nightkin, cyborg, first generation, second generation, east coast or otherwise.

3. An AI Robot. Android, Acme Robot, Protectron, Humanoid Brain Bot, Bipedal Sentry Bot or otherwise.

4. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Intelligent_deathclaw Formerly wild, albino, hairy or otherwise.

5. Human. Pure strain, wildmen, psyker, cyborg or wasteland born- a mutant.

The more radical in form one is, the more starting combat perks you get.
The less radical in form one is, the more starting social perks you'd get.

It's a pretty easy concept to achieve. However, fitting armour for these odd races would be difficult.
Robots or deathclaws would have to have a seperate system to the usual armour governing screen.

I'd imagine it'd instead be something like a body part modification for them- where they can purchase
a variety of leveled tools from vendors which opens up a character creation type screen, that allows
for one to add ridged scales, horns etc. (deathclaw) or body plates, sensors etc. (robot) for additional
benefits relating to that tool's statistics. As well, the tools would be of FEV (needle?) or scrapyard origin.

Another feature to add to this is of course to wear a robe (ala Goris) for a disguise instead of the usual apparel.

All in all, given some thought, the Fallout universe could have much variety in player design as the TES universe has.

Interesting. Especially the talking deathclaw,

I don't think alot of perks, social or combat are neccessary, I think the same options available to the human you play as in Vegas and FO3 will do.

I think the point would be to experiance the game differently in regards to the way people treat you but not in the struggle you have to overcome Pyschally and mentally.

Actually it is possible to be gay in a way in fallout NV. If you take the confirmed bachelor perk, and instead of using female prostitudes, always use the boy prostitude over in northside

TALKING DEATHCLAW? I would have to commit suicide from the start of the game! LOL I hate DCs!!!!!!!!!! No way I would EVER play one! NO WAY! LOLOL

Hmm someone mentioned AI, remember the guy you had to track down in Fallout 3? An escaped AI, who thought he was human? Well, I guess for those who want to play a "robot", this might be a good alternative. You look human, but you might have stronger bones, higher intelligence etc. (race specific qualities).

Although, I'm ok with just playing a Human, I doubt I would choose anything else. lol

Of course you are. Only a madman would dream of playing as some filthy, illiterate piece of refuse mutant scum.

And of course as far as Aliens are considered, they don't exist in Fallout. Mothership Zeta was just a bad dream and social experiment to mess with our heads get over it.

No aliens exist in both the normal fallout 3 without dlc′s and in New Vegas, not only in mothership Zeta. But i didnt excpect a Enclave racist (against muties) like you to understand that, your kind of patriotic maniacs are all stuck in your own world of a america free of mutants, ghouls and mexicans right?

Of course you say that! Only an enclave supporter would stick his head so far up his ass that the only thing he sees is that giant chip on his shoulder.
Otherwise called his head. Heh and there was aliens, they're just dead now. They were only called aliens by conspiracy theorists, but were just mutants.

I'm ok with playing a beast man. Especially a reptile one at that. The intelligent deathclaws suit my style of characters-
Quick, durable and dangerous in melee. I'd love to play as one in the Fallout games, although that's a real long shot.

I would really hope the new Fallout doesn't have you playing (or gives you the option to play) as a different race. It wouldn't feel the same. Races like Super Mutants and ghouls have different traits and characteristics. For example, talking deathclaws only have a max Intelligence of 4. And super muties aren't able to use small arms. Ghouls being immune to radiation is also something that concerns me.

It wouldn't feel right being "limited" in my role-playing experience. I don't mind having the different races being a big part of the game. As long as they are factions to choose from I will be fine.

A load of bloatfly dung. This argument of Fallout's setting being different due to a few minor changes is like whining about Coca Cola Classic not
tasting like the pre-New Coke formula. You are arguing about semantics, since you obviously would not be participating in this gameplay element.
And it's not like the lore would be changed, nor 'your' experience for that matter. Just if anything- the developer's schedule would be changed.

Does that even matter? if it gives out failure, it'd be alright. The latest Fallout games are already so lackluster in steady performance at any rate.
But greatly succeed usually in initial sales, so concerns of experimentation shouldn't be that great. And whatever technical issues you have with
the races abilities, appearence or past appearence doesn't give enough warrant nor justification to automatically dismiss it. That's just unpleasant aversion.

You haven't been here long enough to understand the horrible impact Mothership Zeta had on the community. Was not speaking as to just dismiss Aliens, I was speaking to dismiss that abominable piece of crap DLC that near corrupted one of the most important parts of Fallout lore. (the cause of the War)

Mexicans I have no problem with. You fail to see that the Enclave does not discriminate against specific subspecies of human, like African-Americans, Asians et cetera. All humans male and female are equal in the Enclave so that rules out the Nazism claims you press on the Enclave.

Enclave's science teams proved that mutants of the Wasteland are far too different genetically to be classified homo sapiens, thus they aren't considered such. Mutants of the Wasteland are to Enclave what Neanderthals were to Humans - a different humanoid species and a competitor, a dumber and less advanced race that could only be pushed aside to make room for the superior humans.

Love the idea and with NVs reputation system it would allow for several different playthroughs, with towns having a different attitude towards your character depending on their race.

I'll use Fallout 3 as an example. You choose a ghoul character and immediately you would be vilified by Tenpenny Tower and accepted by the residents of Underworld.

Though it'd have to be set in the west coast/core region for it to work with super mutants.

To compare Nazis to any video game entity that is not openly their imitation, is a very sure way of telling you have no idea what you are talking about.

Nothing of this changes the fact that the Enclave murder everyone not them, Mexicans not being an exception. And i havent playid any fallout 3 dlc yet, only fallout new vegas ultimate edition, so i dont know much about that dlc, but i know about the aliens, seen them, killed them, hell even found a friendly one in Vegas?? glitch i think. Anyways, the exist, and thats that.

You use the way the Enclave are portrayed in Fall Out 3 to pass judgement on what people are saying about them based on all games thus far..
Aliens were never part of the FO universe.. so to speak.
The dead Alien in vanilla FO3, the UFO and the blaster were Bethesda's nod, in Easter egg form towards earlier games.
MZ built on that seemed to expand the easter egg.. throw in probing etc.. A extended nod towards UFO culture and such... Starting it. it seems to be a stand allone tale.. That it is untill they hint at the fact that Aliens actually were responsible for the great war..
In other words for many fans of the originals this DLC took the FO concept, took its carefully reconstructed history, laughed at it.. threw it on the floor, stepped on it.. and finally took a dump on it.
Personally I couldn't care less... I see is at is an extended easteregg.. with one of the few symphatetic kids in FO3.
Now in NV it is still an easteregg... aliens are not in new vegas, except when you have the wild wasteland trait.. In other words... the trait which basically says.. it will throw weird and funny eastereggs at you.
So point being: Aliens are not in Fall out... as.. a faction..

Now back on topic..
People should stop wanting to make FO in TES with guns.. It already has been slightly transformed... but please no more.
Thematically it would not make any sense.. FO is about mans (as in humans) survival in a changed world.. Its strength being putting you in the shoes of one of these individuals..

Incorrect. Fallout is about: "War. War never changes." As the common introduction displays in Ron Perlman's own words.

In all matters a new race would not change your gameplay nor the style of your game, as you already preach for cohesiveness.
It would be an addition for people who want it. Not a change in theme. Just a roleplaying extension under gameplay of choice.

They are somewhere up to the northwest, close to my secret safeh... i mean destroid farmhouses, look in the mountains and you will find a crashed spaceship.

I never mentioned them being a faction, i said they were in fallout 3 and new vegas and im right. Some people do say that they are even though you dont have the wild wasteland trait, but that they dont carry an alien blaster, rather a gauss rifle. Me, i have never playid without Wild Wasteland so i dont know. So jokes on you pall, cause all i said was true, so you cant really argue.
