New races?

Post » Fri Dec 18, 2009 3:43 pm

Possibly falmer as a non-playable race. It would be funny if they included an Imga servant to a Bosmer noble. He could be very rude to Nords, Imperials and Bretons and call them smelly and stuff.

I don't see any need for new races, when there's so little difference between playing the ones we've got. If we shove more in there the choice of "race" won't resemble much more than skin tone. And, as has been mentioned, the dwarves are just more elves, aside from being gone.

STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM! EXPLAIN YOURSELF RIGHT NOW!

Oh you're right! I did not mean to insinuate the world did not need dogs, horses, lions, or even kittens. Thoughtless of me, very sorry!

What hints, other than they may have become the little blue goblins?

I'm pretty sure the Dunmer were the Chimer before the War of the First Council.

A book, I forget the name of it, says they may still be living in the mountains between skyrim and morrowind I think. They don't put something like that in a game unless it's stockpiling for something.

What I'd like to know is: which of the above mentioned races would you like to see in the next Elder Scrolls game? I've taken all these names from http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Races link. That means all of the races exist within the history of Tamriel and are included in the Elder Scrolls lore, none of these races has been made up by me. However, I didn't do any research on the races so it could be possible that one or more of these races has been exterminated. Although, I would like to see your opinion on this thread and please give some additional information in your reply.

I myself would love to see the Dwemer included, I am a huge fan of dwarves and I would be astonished if they would include them. Opinions?

I personally hope the Falmer stay outta this, but perhaps we learn some more about them.

Imga couldn't be further from home unless they were from Summerset so they really shouldn't be there.

Haha, that would be brilliant, but I don't think they will do that. It's going to be an all new race or nothing, not just one Imga.

One sole survivor screams extinct to me.

It says "Yagrum Bagarn is the last known living Dwemer", not the sole survivor. This means that Dwemer could exist, but they are just not known. -- Maybe they want it that way.

Word of god that said the dwemer are now the goldenskin of the Numidium, save for YB. So lets end this wild speculation already. This has been going on for nearly a decade now!

Yeah indeed, maybe they're underneath the surface fighting some other evil creatures? Maybe something equal to Dragon Age: Origins, where the dwarves were fighting the Darkspawn.

Why did you list Chimer? They are modern day Dark Elves. That's like saying I want to see homo habilis when you're looking at them all around you, just 2 million years evolved. Although the Chimer evolved in the sense that Azura cursed them and charred their skin ashy and their eyes red after the Nerevar situation.

That's not a very strong anology. Homo habilis is part of human pre-history, and is only theorized to be part of the Homo sapien (sapien) evolutionary line. Chimer and Dunmer are both contained in history, meaning there are written text accounts of the events concerning them.

I'm not sure if this was directed at me, but I know they are from Valenwood. I was saying if they were in Skyrim, only Summerset is further away and thus they couldn't really be any further from home.

That still doesn't explain why a race of warm temperature-dwelling, gigantic tree-living, Bosmer-imitating apes would be in the harsh northern Skyrim climate.

I'm tempted to start another poll on "and what race would your remove to make room for them"?

Leave the set we have in Oblivion. The races are just an excuse for variation of starting stats, like the birthsigns and classes, and have little effect after the first few levels. I'd like to think the engine is fixed so that short characters can breathe when they swim and we can get a bit more size variation, but this isn't the part of the game that needs change.

Ooh this makes me wonder if Skyrim is after the events of the two Elder Scroll books(Infernal City plus the yet to be released one), new races could have been brought on Umbriel to Tamriel. :ninja:

I don't find it likely though. ;)

I would like to see the Falmer, The Aldmer and the rest of the Akavari's.
And indeed the dwemer aren't dwarves.

But I do think there will be new races.
