New races?

Post » Fri Dec 18, 2009 12:57 pm

What I'd like to know is: which of the above mentioned races would you like to see in the next Elder Scrolls game? I've taken all these names from http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Races link. That means all of the races exist within the history of Tamriel and are included in the Elder Scrolls lore, none of these races has been made up by me. However, I didn't do any research on the races so it could be possible that one or more of these races has been exterminated. Although, I would like to see your opinion on this thread and please give some additional information in your reply.

I myself would love to see the Dwemer included, I am a huge fan of dwarves and I would be astonished if they would include them. Opinions?

Where's the option for none in each category?

Anyways, Dwemer and Chimer would be cool.

Umm, you don't know that. We could see good ol' Yagrum Bagarn again considering Divayth Fyr was a wizard capable of mass teleportation, and he could have teleported himself and Yagrum out of Vvardenfell during the eruption.

Also, you don't know for sure that he's the last living dwarf (Though it's likely).

Ah, that's a shame. I'm not very known with the Lore that's why I added them to the poll. Anyway, perhaps there's a way a tribe of Dwemers who survived underneath the surface.

You should probably condense the poll, it won't allow voting in only a few categories.

Personally, I'd love to see Dwemer... in a future game. It's technically possible, we don't know for certain what happened to them. Skyrim is not the game for their return. The return of the dwarves is an event important enough to deserve its own game.

For Skyrim, though, go with the setting appropriate races - Falmer and werewolves, in particular, would be neat.

Aldmer and Chimer shouldn't be on the list at all, they're just proto-elves and proto-Dunmer.

Well that's only one man.
And having any other living Dwemer would make him a cheap character.

The dwarves return should be a major event within the world of Tamriel, but why can it happen in Skyrim?

The plague killed all the Kothringi.

The geography makes it unlikely that we'll see Sload (could they even survive in Skyrim?) or Imga (who hate the smell of menfolk and live in Valenwood). Tropical Elves wouldn't be seen dead in Skyrim, if they perk up it'd only be to attack Summerset. Aldmer are gone, diverged. Ayleids are gone, slaughtered or assimilated. Dwemer are gone, messing about with divine hearts.

Ages ago I read that some Chimer may still exist in the mountains between Morrowind and Skyrim, but I might be misremembering something. Falmer would be interesting as a 'faction', but as a playable race everyone would hate you on sight.

Personally I hope we get more info on the races of mysterious Akavir. More clarification on the Nedic peoples would also be good. I have a feeling we'll get a lot more info on the origin of men in Tamriel - even the Nords claim Skyrim (or High Hrothgar to be precise) as their origin, not Atmora.

I want to see the Falmer, briefly. Some of the Akaviri races, if they are indeed, invading. None of the beast races, although I do want to see the Imga in Valenwood, whenever we go there. And I want to see Werewolves and Werebears

I think I'm going to look into the lore myself, I find it rather interesting. Eventhough it is a game. But these Akavir races seem to be very interesting, I hope they get added into Skyrim in some way.

Well, the game already has the dragon thing going. The dwemer shouldn't have to share the spotlight.

Dwemer and Dragons are a great combination, in my opinion. But I can't really say that from an objective perspective, it's purely my opinion, since I love dwarves. Perhaps the Elder Scrolls VI will include the return of the dwarves.

Hey, I love dwarves, too. That's why I think they ought to get a game to themselves.

Why would the Dwemer return at all?

At any rate I voted for all Akaviri races and Werewolves.

I'm surprised quite a few people want more races. To each their own I guess. I wouldn't complain about new races but it wouldn't add much I don't think.

Dwemer are not dwarves. They were another race of mer or elves. They are the same height as everyone else. They were referred to as dwarves by a race of giants, the Ehlnofey of the Velothi Mountains.

Ah! Found it. The Nu-Mantia Intercept.
Just like the earliest Chimer who orphaned themselves from the Velothi Exodites, but remain Chimer today, large numbers of Ayleids showed more interest in the immediate earthly needs of agriculture rather than the magical needs of concept-farming.

In timescale, it's written just before Oblivion. Although as with all obscure texts like this, whether it is canon is dubious. Vehk says that all Chimer turned into Dunmer in The Battle of Red Mountain, if you believe his word.

The logo of Skyrim is the same as the banner of Akaviri, is that a hint that we will get to see some of Akaviri or/and it's races?

Why did you list Chimer? They are modern day Dark Elves. That's like saying I want to see homo habilis when you're looking at them all around you, just 2 million years evolved. Although the Chimer evolved in the sense that Azura cursed them and charred their skin ashy and their eyes red after the Nerevar situation.

Nedes are proto-humans, the aldmer are proto-mer (altmer best resemble them), the aedra are mostly dead and can only appear as avatars at best, the Kothringi are thought to be extinct (but also only live in Black Marsh), Falmer are thought to be completely wiped out, Maormer seem to be concentrated south and west of Tamrial (and making pot shots and invasions against the altmer, doubt we'd see them so far north), the followers of Veloth are now the dunmer entirely, the dwemer are gone completely (save for 1 sole survivor that is now a bloated mass of disease), and I doubt the igma and sload would go to cold Skyrim.
