New Screens III

Don't know if this has been mentioned but the mead hall looks alot like a Fighter's (now Companions?) Guild hall. Notice the red banners with war axe on them.

Im thinking the exact same thing.

People.......... The difference in graphics between console and PC will be VERY LITTLE, if any at all. In fact, I think Todd Howard said the consoles might actually look BETTER than the PC. Hold your breath, shut up about the graphics that this lovely company will pull together oh so easily, and enjoy the ride.

Have FAITH.

People should have faith in mods as well.

In several years time, Skyrim will look drastically better on the PC than on the consoles. I mean, look at an overhauled version of Morrowind now compared to a vanilla Morrowind on the xbox. It really doesn't matter too much at all whether the vanilla graphics on the PC are poor.

"Uh, no, it will look better on PC unless you scale down the graphics because your PC svcks and can't handle it. It will have higher resolution, greater distance view, greater resolution and the option of antialiasing, at the very least, on the PC. It makes no sense that it would look worse than consoles at top settings. "

Well, prepare for a shocker, cause I guess it'll make "no sense."

People should have faith in mods as well.

Mod anything, and it should turn out better than before, obviously. But the "vanilla version" of this game will be the same (nearly) on all systems. I remember in my head Todd Howard's voice saying that, just can't remember where he said that.

1. At most the difference will be very little. It will never be "if any at all"...its not physically possible unless your PC svcks. Like all other mulitplats, it will be noticable unless your pc or eyes svck.

2. Todd never said it will look on better on consoles, because it won't. Another physical impossibility.

So do you have any logic to support your argument? They had these options on the PC in Oblivion, what kind of delusion makes you think they'll take that out for Skyrim, especially when they've directly stated that the PC will have higher resolution textures already?

So yeah. It's pretty obvious what you're doing. No one is buying it. :goodjob:
Skyrim looks amazing, and it doesn't look like Ice Age. Only someone who is joking would say that, because it's laughable.
And lol@everyone who cries out for the best graphics possible in a TES game. That's not possible, not with current gen tech. And guess what? Most of bethesda's buyers are console buyers, proven fact.
They are going to cater to the masses, that's how you do this thing called making money. Logic. It's hard, I know.

Also, open ended games like TES cannot have the top notch graphics available like TW2 and Crysis 2. Those games look that good because they are small. No game as big as the open world of TES has those kind of graphics, because nothing could run that. Again, common sense. It's a killer.
You are demanding something that is not feasable nor realistic. If you want a game that has no cells, 100% best graphics, and open streamless worlds that require no loading screens to do so, become a game engineer and do it yourself. You'd then see why people don't do that. With the tech they have to work with right now. It's. Not. Possible.

But....but....but I spent all this money on meh rig!!!!! I want Skyrim to take full advantage of it, because the gaming industry should revolve around me and my over priced rig!!!! Screw the console fans!!!!! They aren't worthy!!!!

(Sarcastic impression ^)

The screens are, at the very least, passable. I think they look pretty damn good to be from 2005 hardware.

You're right, it will be nearly the same on all systems on launch... and that's fine by me. It really won't take long for mods to start piling up that significantly improve how the game looks on the PC.

Interesting...

But the giants shouldn't imo groom their hair. We'll just have to let Bethesda be creative on this one...
What about wild mammoths?
I hope dragons can kill mammoths... In a forest looking out into a field, all of a sudden a dragon sweeps in for the kill, DINNER!
It would be cool to see giant take advantage of mammoths. Pack animals or siege weapons...

But I still don't buy some of the graphic flaws!

Because it all balances out. You have better "texture resolution" on your PC? The consoles have something your PC doesn't. Etc. There will be VERY LITTLE DIFFERENCE. Don't expect the consoles to be buttbleeped and the PC to have all the glory. It won't be that way.

I'm defending console-users from all teh haters on their "lesser power."

What you call "graphic flaws" I call overly pessimistic and unrealistic. The game looks stunning for 2005 hardware.
If you want to change it, become a game designer and do it. Please. Entertain us with your amazing engineering skills. If the top people of the gaming industry can't make an open ended game like TES look like Crysis 2, what makes you think you can?

What the [censored] are you on about? Since when is this a case of "make it fair for the consoles"? The consoles will do everything they are capable of and the PC will do everything it is capable of on the basis of the consoles (meaning some features like polygon count will obviously be limited). And since PCs are far more capable than consoles at top-market, the top settings will be better than the consoles. The PC can do anything consoles can and more, so there's no way they'll cut a feature on PC so that consoles will be treated as if they are as good.

I'm defending console-users from all teh haters on their "lesser power."

Well, there's your problem. You're treating an issue of cold facts and basic logic as a political battle.

I don't know how scientifically supported it is, but common artistic renditions (I mean for books about mammoths, not cartoons) have them with similar hair.

Um, that's exactly the point. Neglecting the possibilities of one platform so you don't displease the console players. Sacrificing quality for more cash.
Logic is only as good as its premise. Accept that some people don't share yours.

It's balancing out, and I'm sure that few people have "top of the market" computers, or went all out installing the newest tech on their boxes. The audience, aside from mods (which should be availible to the consoles by some degree [correct me if I'm wrong when I heard Todd Howard say that modding tools will be given to the consoles]) will all even out to the same sort of experience.

Seriously, show me 1 open world game that's as big/detailed as Skyrim with the same graphics.

My friend it can look better....

Assassins Creed is open world enough... You can optimize so that your game is massive and beautiful.

Also you don't have to have the console compute AI when your not visualizing it... NPC dont have to complete quests on their own when your not there. All that stuff can be done with some simple code logic.

So now that you have RAM free what should you do? Go back to the computer and draw up some better lokking textures..

Dragoneborn1: "Assassins Creed? Lol."
I thought the same thing. Open-world is too broad a term for the Elder Scrolls. Assassin's Creed is beat by sheer intensity of detail, not of freedom of roaming.

Well, you obviously have an excellent grasp on the behavior and customs of a fictional species (Elder Scrolls giants, that is) with no known real-world anologue. I wonder what you have to say about Argonians being in Skyrim.
/Sarcasm

Seriously, man, this is a fantasy game. Use YOUR imagination and stop...gnolling (you know what I mean).

Um, okay, I think if you don't understand this topic at all, even on a basic level you shouldn't really make arguments. This is not a deal of balancing out at all. Your average PC these days is more powerful than a console, and I'm not saying every PC will look better than a console, but thanks to common sense, every PC that CAN look better than a console will, unless they inexplicably set their graphical settings to low. Todd said that they are looking into providing modding to consoles, but there's nothing definite. There are some technical and legal issues that will need to be sorted out. There will be no evening out. To the best degree feasibly possible, it's a "You get what you pay for" situation. Also, for future reference, there's a reply button that will quote what has been said. You should use it.

Assassins Creed is no where near the size of the OPEN WORLD part of Morrowind or Oblivion.
