Damn, looks amazing! Cannot wait for this game!!! Now for a bit of nitpicking.......Where are all the amazing shadows and lighting effects Todd was bragging about? In the mammoth screen, not a single tree, rock, or anything other than the mammoth up colse casts a shadow at all??? Makes the game look very flat when there is no lighting on anything other than creatures. Oh well, still looks damn fine to me!!!!

By the way, if that giant is truly "giant", (10 feet tall or so), imagine the scale of the mammoths!!! It is going to be insane going mammoth hunting with a bow and bringing one of those bad boys down!

I really like how they have a huge fire built into the ground. Thats a nice touch that makes it seem more like the clans of Viking-era Scandanavia. And its nice to see that they have different kinds of lighting and different kinds of pots and jars. I also noticed some blood on the guy's chest.

Am I the only one who finds the grass looking an awful lot like the grass in Oblivion...I don't like that........
The graphics look different. They were more grand when the ones on Apr. 18th came out.

For anyone that thinks the guy in the background is wearing a hood. The dev has already stated that the bench he is sitting on gives him a kind of optical illusion.

The guy is sitting on a pew like bench. If you look at the pillar to his right, right before it, you'll see that the bench/pew has a fancy ornate scroll work that extends well above the back rest of the bench. The NPC is sitting on the other end of the bench and that stuff people are mistaking for hair and a hood is that same scroll work on the other end.

The NPC is sitting perpendicular to the railing behind him. He has turned his head to look at the player. If he does have hair, it is slicked back, otherwise, he is bald like the NPC int he foreground.

Don't know if this has been mentioned but the mead hall looks alot like a Fighter's (now Companions?) Guild hall. Notice the red banners with war axe on them.

i think the building the man was in was probably the companions guild hall, judging by the pure badassery of the bald guy and the banner with the axe on it

What's up with the tree in the middle of http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/9962/mammoths.jpg I wonder, the one thats to the right of the further away mammoth, it looks distinctly different from the rest with no leaves and a curved trunk, almost looks like it was hit by lightning or something

Chalk it up to technical/graphical limitations of the Xbox 360. On the PC version, we'll be able to set the view distance of shadows (like with Oblivion). So, everything CAN cast a shadow. But on the Xbox 360, the view distance (of shadows) is most likely limited for the sake of smooth performance. I think.

Wow those tusks are blocky looking.

Don't just focus on the graphics. Focus on the overall art direction. It's pleasing to the eye. The characters match nicely with the background. The composition is overall pleasing. A game I would play for hours straight.

I thought that too, at first, but if you look at his left shoulder (the right side of the screen) it looks like a similar if not the same thin metal spaulder we've been seeing on a lot of the Dovahkiin images. Same shape and curve and lightfastness but the armor and harness are quite different.

So... maybe seperate pauldrons from cuirass? Maybe just tons of cuirasses with different pauldron combinations as set?

I predict a lot of storming over this. At least until, and if, we see anything more definative at E3.

I love what's going on with the mountains in the mammoth screenshot. How the fog/clouds blend in with the sky there, and then you have those clouds further back getting hit by some sun. It's nice. I swear I could stare at mountains and clouds all day in reality. With Video Game like this and Rage coming out, I'll be dying plenty of times just because I can't stop looking at the sky.

I know where the shot with the mammoths is located. It's in the tundra region pointing towards the Throat of the world. If you continue following that path between the mountains, you will run into Riverwood. If the camera panned left a little more, you would be looking at Whiterun.

This is most likely because they are trying to keep the polygon count low in the model to keep from lagging when getting close to the mammoth. If subsurfaced it will increase the number of polygons, also the fact that faces need to be triangulated which increases the polygon count even higher. The higher the polygons, the more lag, most game engines limit a certain amount of polygons.
