New Screenshot in GI April!

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 4:52 am

Yeah it could be this. My guess is it won't be a message though. It will be realtime and similar to the random encounters from Fallout 3/NV. They put a lot of time into working out the mechanics of this feature and it's my guess they have brought it over.

I don't believe NV had random encounters, sadly.

That was one of the best aspects of FO3 and I'll be thrilled if it's in Skyrim.

Just a small digression:
Noticed that he actually joined a week before you. And I think that post count rank doesn't mean much.

Digression aside-I'm glad someone pointed it out and thanks to the op for the info.

Unless you don't already know there is a new Skyrim screenie in the latest edition of GI.
It shows a beautiful mountain range (High Hrothgar?) from the "Pine Forest" region looks bloody amazing.
(I'm also Aprils angry aussie)

SHORT RECAP:

-Spier webs that slow people down confirmed.
-Daggerfall Style Random Encounters
-Shadows are a big deal.
-Snow is NOT a shader. It builds up onto objects depending on altitude and region. Super complex calculations go into it.

Could you please state:
- Issue number/month
- Country/region
- Page numbers

It would much facilitate finding the article. Thanks.

That one. Though it's not the same pine forest. It's not as green as in the trailer.

I love that pic. It's been my PS3 wallpaper ever since it was released. I didn't know what region it was from though.

What page is the article on? We have the issue, but I'm not spotting the Skyrim coverage.

Same here.

i'm pretty sure it did? i actually can't remember, now that i think about it. i could've sworn it did, but i can't remember any specific instances. that could be one reason why i didn't like New Vegas.

i agree they were one of the best things about FO3, though. the whole Radiant Story concept seems like it's pretty much a more polished, more topical evolution of the random encounter system.

Sorry, I just thought since they hadn't been posting much they may not have been on the forums as much and may have missed things, but I sort of followed my diverging train of thought in my post and ended up concluding that he was right anyway.

I've been here before Skyrim was announced.

I'm not a regular but I keep up.

AAAAAAAAAnyway, back on topic.

I'm pretty excited hearing about these new confirmed features, wish I could see this new screen (new or not, still exciting).
I heard somewhere that there's going to be new footage released sometime in the near future? Am I mistaken?

Give the guy a break, he was defending himself from someone who was deeming his info as suspect because of his post count. And how is telling the guy who made the topic what to say on topic?

yeah, it's not in the saints row 3 mag, the only thing related to Skyrim in that mag is a couple of wishes fans wanted to see + an old screenshot, and that's on page 12.

this one, http://elderscrolls.com/skyrim/media/screenshots/frost-troll-fight/

and these are the things some fans wanted to see in Skyrim
1. create custom weapons & armor.
2. cosmetic damage.
3. no level scaling like oblivion.
4. mounts & mounted combat, and he would like to ride a dragon lolol.
5. better animations.
6. random dungeon generator.
