What console game were you playing in 2000 that looks that good? Please do tell.

I think you missed what I was pointing to.

To the caves which is modeled edgy like a cave in world of warcraft or morrowind while they were smooth in Oblivion.

I think you mean low polygon count? Anyway, the reason Oblivion's caves were smoother was because the falls were fairly flat and didn't jut out most of the time. These new ones look to be more interesting.

I cant wait to go exploring after i saw that view of the lake and mountains in the background. Also the Elvin armor and sword looks nice, though i never liked elvin equipment in oblivion, it looks nice in Skyrim.

Give me a fishing skill, tackle box crafting interface for my bait, and a pole. Sprinkle a few dragons playing in those mountains and you have a good day sir.

It all looks very good, except one thing: the pine trees. I live in an area with pine trees, and the way they have the branches growing just seems off. Trees have a logical pattern, and branches don't face up or down, or any which way. May seem a small complaint to many, but it's obvious to me.

+1 ! Would make an interesting minigame or the such, relaxing in a boat or next to the water, catching a few fish and frying them up on your campfire while embers slowly drift into the cool night sky! Now that is living!

I hope the hair is just placeholder. Everything looks great, well detailed armor and weapons, excellently sculpted and textured skin and muscle tone. Then this flat and jagged 2D hair sticking out under his helmet.

Yea I didnt notice until you pointed it out

The water in the pond picture looks amazing. The grass on the near shore shows it is already in lower texture setting... I know that Todd said that they want it to look the same across platforms, but please for the PC allow sliders to adjust texture and view range. It's been a tradition since Morrowind to upgrade my PC when the next TEC game comes out. I got a 1950xt for Oblivion then and later upgraded it to a 3870x2 which is definitely faster than the Xbox360 or PS3. Here'ss to those amazing graphic modders and to tweaking the DLL file.

I think the first one looks like it could be a goblin he's killing. And the scenery in the last one looks gorgeous!

That's a Dunmer being killed by Garrett from Thief.

Wait... what? You can't compare modded Oblivion to vanilla Skyrim.

I'm going to yes, yes he can. Oblivion was completed five years ago... Skyrim is supposed to be an improvement of its prequel, yet according to him vanilla Skyrim appears to look the same as vanilla Oblivion in the aspect he mentioned. So he can compare the two.

in #2, the fox/wolf is not casting any shadow on the ground. Even taking in account the additional light source (the spell casting hand), a shadow would have been cast on the ground nonetheless.

That's a very good observation. I thought Skyrim had dynamic shadows?

It looks cheap and feels like we're back in year 2000.

Morrowind was released on May 1st, 2002. Compare these two screenshots:

So I ask you, wise and magnificent sage, of what game are you referencing?

What?
1. How is that even possible? I don't know about you, but in order to be immersed I have to be playing a game.
2. If you don't like it, don't click on the thread, read it, and complain about, especially when it's a very talked about topic.

1. That would be sarcasm my friend.
2. Dont click thread, dont read, dont complain? I thought that was what these forums were for?
3. Are you sure you want to debate about THIS when there are only a few posts remaining in the thread?

Okay sorry if I sounded tetchy. And you have a point as well. Mist/fog, combined with overcast. Yes it can look bloomy irl.

This can be changed really easy. Well, at least really easy in Oblivion.
Here's the mod All Natural for Oblivion. Looks a whole lot nicer to me:

:foodndrink: no probs

I prefer the modded sky for Oblivion in those pics too...

I think they are not pine at all but rather Spruce.

Then they wouldn't have named a whole section of the map "pine forest."

About the pine trees: They look good but I think there could be a bit more variety. A few "bent" ones, a few thick ones, a few thin ones.

The pine trees in the shots look pretty much the same. The only thing that's variety in them is branches moving up or down, and if they are tall or small. Am I the only one thinking a bit more variety in the terms I said above would be nice?

Alright well the scan I have (which is in the Game Informer article; http://74.125.67.100/images?rlz=1T4GGHP_enUS416US416&q=skyrim%20game%20informer%20elven%20armor&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=1345&bih=532) shows the backside of what is obviously Elven armor. What I think is going on is, because the two pictures I gave have both similarities and differences (see waistline and pauldrons of characters), I think either that is armor that is interchangable or a design they are still working on.

Waistline is the same and pauldrons are the same. I looked closely!
