A New Seyda Neen (suggestions welcome)

Post » Sun Jul 29, 2012 5:00 am

Yes that's right. Another modder is creating yet another Seyda Neen expansion. Anyone who has ever done this before has their own interpretation of what they want their expansion to look like. Some keep it simple, while others add a building or an NPC at every turn. A while back, someone made a comment on another one of my mods about how the Imperials had a tough time settling Vvardenfell. Surely there would be some signs of this chaotic time scattered around the continent, but to my knowledge, I have yet to come across anything significant (at least in the vanilla game). Since reading that comment, it's been my goal to create mod(s) that touch on these ruins. Seyda Neen seems to me like it could have been one of the first places the Imperials established when they began their conquest. I've added a few Imperial ruins and some extra buildings, but nothing too crowding. I intend on keeping the town VERY simple and try to keep it mainly a fishing village as originally intended. On the other hand, I intend on using custom additions created by the community to make this Seyda Neen expansion as unique as possible. As always, constructive criticism and suggestions are helpful in coming up with an expansion mod that will satisfy at least a good handful of people, so if anyone has any suggestions whether it be new buildings, NPC's, quests, etc., please let me know. I have included some screenshots of the work I have done so far. Hopefully they will spur on some ideas by anyone who sees them.

Seyda Neen and Balmora are always favorites of modders. I might try my hand at Seyda Neen some time, but it would probably just be putting pretty dresses on everyone, including Socucius.

It was probably assumed that any settlements that were lost (if any) in the takeover of Vvardenfell were cleaned up and rebuilt long ago, so my recommendation if you want to add ruins would be put them outside of the imperial-occupied cities and towns, rather than scattered inside of them... maybe something abandoned just outside of Seyda Neen. The rubble looks pretty recent in the screenshots... of course, you could always write some reason in as to why this would be left like that for hundreds of years inside the town.

I'd go against mixing diffrent styles when building cities. I assume that's an velothi ashpit in the middle of the central area? Just my cup of tea though

I'm also for putting the ruins outside the actual town, perhaps the imperials started out with a "fort" that now lies in ruins. I actually had that in my "New Seyda Neen" expansion to begin with, but it never turned out good enough to keep. This actually gave me an idea for Rebirth (Damn it, never gonna finish things..)
