A new site to list recommended Oblivion and Skyrim mods and

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 11:37 am

Hello everyone, just wanted to spread the word that I have put up a site to try and compile the most recommended tools and mods for the titles Oblivion and Skyrim. What I have tried to do is comb through the large mod hosting sites and pick out the mods that I feel improve the gameplay of Oblivion and enriches it in the way Bethesda intended. The site is also intended to try and answer the perpetual question of "what mods should I use?" when people fire up a new install of Oblivion or as Skyrim mods start popping up. I want to offer several choices for tweaks, as long as they meet quality and austerity guidelines (i.e. no mods that add modern technology shall be found here, for starters). I pay for the site myself, you won't see any ads.

As a huge fan of Oblivion and other elder scrolls titles, a modder myself since 2006, and a grateful beneficiary of the modding community, I want to provide a place for people to go who want the best experience while leaving Bethesda's intentions for the game intact. I also intend to keep up with the mods as they are updated or added and keep anyone who is interested apprised via a twitter feed, even though I have never used twitter in my LIFE. This is what I do for you.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy the site!

Spreading the ES love :)

Well, I dont know if it will help but Tomlong has been scouting around the bazaars like a whirlwind over the last year and her TESCosi site is superb - http://tescosi.com/wiki/Oblivion

Might be worth a look for yourself. Check my sig out for another Wrye Bash link too ;)

Your descriptions and recommendation reasons seem to be a bit off. I may go through and help there when I get done with my day if someone doesn't beat me to it.

That is an awesome wiki! I will definitely link to that on espurist.com for anyone wanting to go deeper into the rabbit hole.

The most glaring issue I find is that you have not linked to the most up to date Bash documentation.

http://oblivionworks.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/oblivionworks/Programs/Wrye%20Bash/Mopy/Wrye%20Bash.html

That's the most up to date.

BOSS's recommendation as being used with Bash is off. It's good to be used if one is using mods at all. It mentions information that is good to know, such as if a vital update is available or mods conflict with one another. Yes, it does tagging for you, but that's just one of many features.

On the site itself, it could use some clean up. The home page is in a bit of disarray with the formatting and all and things just don't seem to fit well on the rest of it. There are other issues, but I can't think of how to express them properly.

Though, it's a good start all the same.

And you might want to include the compatibility patch for QTP3 and the UOP. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11261 is the link, I believe.

Oblivion page has been updated quite a bit. Added info and versions of Qarl's retex and patch. Added realism mods in the Tweaks section. Small layout update. I have the twitter feed going so when I check for mod updates I will let you know when I find them. Skyrim in 2 days. Woot.

Near the entry for the Oblivion Construction Set, you should note that there's now a CS Extender working with OBSE. It adds lovely functionality to the CS for modders.
