New to Skyrim. How to approach the game?

Post » Sun Mar 30, 2014 11:51 am

HI Skyrim community,

I am new to the Elder Scrolls scene. My first Elder Scrolls game that I purchased was Skyrim.

However, I am not new to RPG's. Although I find the system used in Skyrim very intriguing.

I have been told that looting everything in your path could be potentially dangerous as the merchants in Skyrim only have a "limited" amount of gold supply. I have seen that gems can have pretty high value. If i choose not to sell these gems, what can I make of them other than letting them occupy space in my inventory?

Secondly. Do enemies in a particular area respawn after a given amount of time? If so, how long does it take?

Thirdly. Any basic advice. I am building a tank. Intuitively upgrading health seems to be the way to go but what about stamina?

Sorry for the extremely noob questions...

gems weight very little so you could carry them around until you get a house.

Cleared dungeons take 30 in-game days to respawn. I'm not sure how long it takes for non-cleared dungeons.

Oh and since your new to Skyrim you'll need to know-
Named NPCs do not respawn.
The armour cap is 567. an armour rating of 163837738373 is the same as 567. which is 85% damage reduction.
If you are infected with Vampirism you must cure it asap. on the 4th day of infection you will turn.

I think at least 10 points in Stamina will be more than enough.

Also, though some opinions may differ, try not to turn the game into "chase the quest marker."

Many have argued that Skyrim is a shallow game- and I don't entirely disagree- but I think there is a consensus that Skyrim is a beautiful game.

Take time to explore. Walk, run or ride instead of fast travel. Look around and enjoy what may be the game's greatest strength.

If you enjoy it, you're probably going to play it again, so don't feel the need to do everything (i.e. guilds) on one character.

Have fun! :foodndrink:

You can use gems to smith jewelry. Also, if you take perks in the speech skill line, you can increase merchant gold if you wish. If you're interested in vampirism they have some weaknesses and strengths. If you're interested I'd say try it out, just get attacked by a vampire until you're infected with something called Sanguinare Vampiris. If you don't like it, it's not hard to cure, just ask around.
