vsions confirmed they are indeed called the Companions.

But is it confirmed that they are the replacement for the Fighters Guild?

Also wondering this. A whole new guild or a simple replacement?

It was the official press sheet that I just linked. If you don't trust that, then that's your problem.

Yup, you're right - my bad. I glanced at it and it looked like one of those walkthrough/faq's, you know?

I'm guessing each of the 9 holds have their own fighter's guild. Like Winterhold has its own mage's guild. One of the 9 fighter's guilds just happens to be called "The Companions"

Definitely not trusting an IGN FAQ on that. Plus, wasn't Oblivion said to have 60,000 lines before they made cuts? So maybe that's just information taken from before Oblivion actually came out.

I trust the guy who actually worked on the sound more.

Either way, bottom line - I think it's safe to say there will be more, varied, and better voice acting in Skyrim.

I hope they don't make everyone speak so darn slow, too.. lol, that always bugged me. Just spit it out, ghostly Knight of the Nine! Geez...

They are simply a new faction that is confirmed and that they are for warrior characters.

There might also be a Fighter's Guild in Skyrim, for all we know, or multiple guild-type factions for warriors to join that might all be in conflict with one another.

The fact that a specific faction was listed for mages, thieves and warriors, and that the Thieves' Guild was mentioned makes it unlikely that there will be a "Fighter's Guild" in Skyrim IMO.

What movie was he seeing?

X-Men First Class.

He went with his girlfriend and he told me something really funny. I'll quote the experience he had.

*Skyrim ad starts*

Cousin: Hoooly sh*t!.

*Skyrim ad ends*

*People clap and cheer*

GF: "I have a feeling you're going to get that game.."

Cousin: "Not only am I getting it, I'm going to cheat on you with it"

hahahahaha

It also makes sense more dialouge was added after that official press release in late may in 2005.

What Mr. Tissue Box said about 77,000 lines of dialouge in the BSAs makes good sense then.

Is that a total file count, or just the audio files? Each audio file has a corresponding lipsync file that goes with it.

Maybe the majority of the lines of dialogue were recorded once in a male voice and once in a female voice?

People clapped and cheered at the end of an ad? I've underestimated the amount of TES fans out there!

Yeah, I agree. It sounds more like a replacement.
I often felt that the Fighters guild in Oblivion were a lot like a bunch of hired companions that you had with you, so I doubt it's a big change.

Well, not the entire audience, he said around 10 guys, still it's a good % of a movie audience.

LOL I'm probably going to see X Men First class now just to watch the trailer. Otherwise I would have waited for it to come out on blu-ray.

Dual wielding with a weapon and a torch? Cool, does that mean I can set people on fire with the torch, or just club them to death? :D
Hand to hand has been removed? Oh noes! No more weaponless monks going out in Oblivion to restore faith in Akatosh by kicking heathen ass? :(
Also, does anyone know whether spell making is confirmed to be out of the game? 'Cos if it is, that makes me a grumpy little mage :sadvaultboy:

He continues chasing and will eventually attack you. At that point, the guards of the hold you are in now will intervene and attack the guard that attacks you. That guard will try to flee and call his buddies to help him, which leads to war and EVERYONE DIES.
Radiant AI ftw.

Well since there is "live" conversations... (The world doesn't freee, you can walk around 'n stuff) it will be EASY to escape the guards!

It'll be interesting to see how they worked out Radiant AI with scenarios like this. We can also wait for all of them to gather and then Fus Roh Dah all of them. Unless we can't use shouts against NPC's and only dragons.

I could see the whole getting arrested thing working like in RDR.

I'm thinking guards trying to arrest you, or have you pay a fine will be one of the only scenarios where conversations freeze.
