New Skyrim info coming in Playstation the Official Magazine

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 8:54 pm

I'm assuming they'll either lock you in place, your if you walk away when they're trying to pursuit you it'll count as resisting arrest.

I'm not expecting this, but it would be great if there was a legit "arrest" animation, where they kind of tackle and shackle you if you're fleeing, or not if you strike them first, or if you dont resist, they just kind of arrest you. That kind of extra animation is probably a lot to expect, though.

Or like in Morrowind, respect you if you don't run away and stay where you are as they approach you, and disrespect you if you flee and they have to run after you.

Not all of 'em are up, but if you know how to look, you can find 'em on Google, but we are not aloud to post scans so you have to look.

The link you sent me was of the old Game Informer issue from January, not the July Issue of OPM.

There are over 37,000 lines of spoken dialogue in Oblivion.

http://bethblog.com/index.php/2007/09/27/inside-the-vault-mark-lampert/ Bethesda Blog "Inside the vault" interview with Mark Lampert.

Also interesting to note from that interview, at one point during development there was nearly twice that much.

Ah, good. A google search told me 60,000. Well, thankyou for that. I'm glad there is a considerable lot more in Skyrim.

Morrowind = 2,500 - 3,500 lines of spoken dialogue
Oblivion = 37,000
Fallout 3 = 40,000
Skyrim = 60,000

Thanks for these data. Does someone know how many lines of non-spoken dialogue Morrowind had?

And by the way, what exactly is a line? Is it measured in terms of signs (characters, space characters, punctuation marks)? In terms of words or spoken syllable?

I will call my friend and ask him, maybie he will tell me the link, but I just got warned because of those messages, so don't send me anymore concerning...that topic.

Son of a monkey's uncle that is awesome info. :celebration: Although I thought Morrowind would've had a higher amount of dialoge due to not being restricted by not having everybody be voiced.

I think they measure each line as a single recording, a single audio file.

Well that was the amount of spoken dialogue. There's more than 2-3k lines of dialogue in Morrowind.

We've known about the inclusion of Morrowind-style fast travel ("carriage system") for a while. There were plenty of positive reactions at the time. :)

At least anti-fast travelers will have the option to use a more "legit" fast travel with the addition of Morrowind-style travel. Plus a better horse. I don't see why people need to have an on/off "option" for fast travel - just use the other methods.

The biggest controversial topic to not come out yet has to be the quest compass. I'm sure it'll be there in some capacity, but that makes a little more sense as an on/off option.

I can't imagine it's that little. They had so many quests and so much written dialogue. Surely it's more than Oblivion.

Where do you get your numbers, and what are the "lines" based off of?

That's how I figured it, based on the average length of a sentence.

"350,000 words for dialogue, of which about 50,000 will be spoken"
You try to figure it out.

Just because everyone here seems to believe Morrowind is better in every way doesn't mean there was more dialogue. I Believe Oblivion had more than Morrowind.

I'm not a Morrowind Lover/Oblivion Hater. I just know that there is an awful lot more quests in Morrowind and that each NPC seems to have much more to say (though granted much of the generic stuff is repeated).
