I'm confused. Why does everyone like fallout 3 when it had only 28(?) quests and why don't you think that Skyrim can recreate this?

It didn't...

Fallout 3 had 63 quests prior to expansion.

EDIT:

Sorry it had 30 "major" quests then double that + a few in total quests, prior to expansion.

People on internet forums live to moan about things. That's the reason..

People come to ridiculous snap conclusions way too fast on the internet. The 5x Fallout figure came from a tweet from Pete a while ago, there were several threads on it. All it was was that someone asked a question along the lines of how many quests there'd be about in Skyrim, he wasn't sure and gave a random estimate that it's about 5x the size of Fallout. http://twitter.com/#!/DCDeacon/status/116244975074803712. Do you really think he took the time to count all the quests in Fallout and Skyrim, the divide Fallout's by Skyrim's to get "5x" the number of quests? Apparently Fallout's quests were also longer and more in-depth than Oblivion's, so even though there were less in number, there was still a fair amount of quest content. All he did was say that the quest content was too him, in a completely random estimate, about 5 times greater than in Fallout. Getting exactly 140 quests from that is beyond ridiculous people, this is why mis-information and the internet causes so many problems. Don't believe everything you see, and especially don't take random information, draw absurd conclusions, and spread it as fact to confuse even more people. Geesh.

Also, may I point out that some quests in fallout are quite lengthy. Skyrim may possibly have less quests, but it also may have longer, better, more memorable ones, and if there is 5x more of them, i'd say that is quite impressive.

Radiant Story, guise....

Radiant story can't create new interesting quests unless they are already written. It can only randomize the parameters and repeat the same quests over and over again with small changes in details (it's not a level 33 beast, it's 37 and it's not in this cave here, it's there).

lololz @ 140 it can't be true, Gothic 3 had 500+ quests for a map of the same size.

It did but at least TES games don't let you complete quests before you even get them, that is my biggest issue with all those games. Also 140 quests seems like alot when you consider there are around the same amount of dungeons. Also with each dungeon being different I think I'll like dungeon crawling even if I run out of quests.

There are 28 marked quests in Fallout (excluding tutorial quests), but an additional 20 unmarked quests plus an additional 16 unmarked/repeatable quests. You can see on the wiki page. The ACTUAL quote these people got the information from says "5 or 6 times as many quests as Fallout 3". It was PROBABLY just an estimate, so we can't really say how accurate it is, BUT on the assumption that it is accurate, there are still a lot of possibilities. It could mean anything from 140 quests (28x5) to 402 ((28+3+20+16)x6).

Already did that. 140.
Furious about it.

Where do you get that from? Assuming they're counting unmarked and ongoing (collect stuff) quests (and not the tutorial "quests") I get 64 quests in Fallout 3. Five times that would be 320, not 140. You can't count only the major quests of Fallout 3 and then count every last fifteen-minute quest with ten lines of dialogue in Oblivion.

140 must be a lie, it's too few given the promises of more content.

if theres 140 quests, it might mean theyre longer, more complicated and can have several different outcomes. Sounds good to me!

If 100 out of 140 are Whodunit type I can live with 140.

Because the quests were much longer and more detailed than oblivions. There were also a batch of untagged quests, that didn't involve quest markers which are probably not included in that tally. Either way, it didnt feel short of content - which is one reason why this "140" number is irrelevant.

1) Its entirely based on supposition (and possibly incorrect supposition at that)
2) We don't know how detailed the quests are. I suspect less than Fallouts. Are they just fetch quests? Do they have multiple outcomes?
3) Its not confirmed by any official source.
4) Doesnt factor in Radiant quests
5) Its irrelevant. Quests form a part of the content, but I think its safe to say that there will be more than enough to do in Skyrim.

If fallout 3, a game which had less quests than oblivion(by a ton), offered me over 200+ hours of gameplay, then i expect triple that here.

Bethesda invested alot on making the world feel unique and beautiful, with over 150 handcrafted dungeons.. some quests were sure to be sacrificed in order the keep the game balanced for this generation of consoles. I'm aware its also on pc.. but lets get real guys, you know bethesda realizes the majority of their audience is on consoles.

Lets not forgot radiant story adds another layer of awesomeness to the quests, and most importantly, replay value. :tes:

I still don't see where any one said there were 140 quests in the game, so i don't know what all the fuss is about. But after being on this board for a few months i've become used to people jumping to conclusions over one little piece of information then complaining about it like its fact.

Umm.. I count 67 quests in Fallout 3 (quickly counted).. the number 28 is just achievements quests.. 67*5 = around 335 quests in Skyrim.... :icecream:

(fastly counted)

Quickly*
"Fastly"? Really? That's nowhere NEAR a dictionary. XD

But thank for an alternate calculation. 140 is.... Simply unbelievable.

thx for the infos

actully in fallout There are 32 quests which you can get achievements in, but there are also many, many unmarked quests that repeat sometimes, like the one in Megaton where you have to fix the water leaks, or after the Big Trouble in Big Town quest where you have to train the townsfolk in ways they could protect themselves against the Super Mutants.

That quest was lame. It just set you up to do something you could do any time. Kill people. Had very little in the way of options or psychological manipulation like people talk about. There were a few different ways to end it, bar the order in which they die, most of which are just based on how many times you spammed the speechcraft wheel.

Well that gives me lots of hope. :)

I want it to be like 200+ but if it really stays at 140 I think they would be longer quests so it would be less overall but longer or at least about the same amount of time to complete the Oblivion quests.

If its confirmed that there's only 140 quests in the game, then that's a big insult to the fans that Todd Howard told "There's waaaay more content in skyrim than oblivion". Well if there's no Arena, and less quests, then I REALLY don't see how, and you basically lied to us.

Maybe he meant all the stupid unimportant crap like chopping wood and getting married....[censored].

Not sure if you can read this, you might have jumped off a bridge already :sadvaultboy: People like you who jump to a conclusion without the facts make me sick :cryvaultboy: Like several others are saying, the #140 came out of someone's piehole all wrong. I would guess 300+ along with radiant quests. :celebration:
