A new Subscription model

So most subscription models allow you to play games for a monthly fee. The time, however is determined by a calendar and not how many days the player has actually played.

But what if it didn't?

What if you actually could pay to play for X amount of hours? Does such a subscription model exist? (I'm not a big MMO gamer) Do you think it would be effective?

Personally, I think that's a great idea. However, I think most companies wouldn't want that, because they would be effectively losing a big profit margin. Most of the people who game dont usually play for hours on end and i think theres a bigger population of those people then there is of the people who game 15 hours a day (which these people would probably also be opposed to such a subscription style).

For me, that would be perfect though, because i am always switching up what games im currently playing that i dont have the time and focus to spend it all on one game just to get my money's worth out of the subscription.

I don't think I've ever played a game that requires such a thing.

Sounds like they would increase the fees based on such a model to make up for things not making money every day

Would a month be equal to a month of hours in price? If so, I am down :)

I don't buy monthly subs but this idea sounds actually good.
