Yup, good valid concern for the console users!

I've actually never gotten stuck in any scenery in this game... and the amount of times I got stuck in older games I can count on one, two hands. That's not something I'm too worried about.
It's a good example of why these changes are a "quick shot", not really detailed thought out.
Not only for consoles, everything looks hotwired. companions who can't be tracked have to be cured... while you have no clue where you can find them?
Throwing out nice ideas...knowing the game they made can't even support them.
Don't get me wrong, i like the game.
But the changelist for "survival" just made me laugh. It would take another 6 months to make this running smooth in every aspect, and noone of us expects this to ever happen.
Heh, I've gotten stuck plenty of times. Mostly because I try jump weird places in case something hidden would be there
Yea, we'll have to see what the final release will be. How they plan to do it, is sort of still in the dark. But going with what we have of info right now, I don't think Survival is something I wanna play. I don't mind it hard, at all, but I usually say no thanks, if micro-management steals the pleasure. It's fine if a great deal of people wants it, then just leave the original survival difficulty for those who can't be bothered with Fallout SimManager
So i was wondering about the sleep/fatigue system. Is there more info on exactly how it will work? i remember in the early 90's the first time i played Quest for Glory 1 (probably my first RPG ever) i was doing quests and killing stuff and what not. But i had gone for a day or two...or three without sleep. I think during that time i kept getting warning popups saying how my character was tired or whatever. But finally after having gone for so long without sleeping/napping/resting my character just collapsed and pretty much took a forced sleep period. Will FO4 Surv be the same? i think it would be kinda neat because it would add in an extra element of danger. A decrease in stats is bad but people might just slog through it and finish that what they are doing. But knowing that you can pass out at any time adds a bit of danger to it if you are in a hostile area.
That sounds pretty accurate. Sleep deprivation is almost as acute and deadly as water deprivation, several days at max before you're dead.
Bethy will of course completely nerf this "realism". Probably add a new magical "Sleep Deprivation Prevention" legendary gun that would prevent this!
This will certainly change things up. I remember adding some real cool mods to Fallout 3 back in the day- I think it was something like,
Headshot 100x damage (10x for the player)
Torso 5x damage
Arm 0.75 damage
Leg 1.25 x damage
It made the combat fast and frantic with the real need to use cover and be the first to the draw. I am really hoping that Beth comes to the party!
Ehh...i would have preferred that lack of sleep lead to loss of consciousness instead. And whether you die or not would depend on your location in game. If you pass out from lack of sleep in that cellar in Sanctuary Hills that shouldnt kill you. You're just taking a much needed nap on a really uncomfortable floor. But if you are in an open wooded area 300 meters from a raider camp and you pass out from lack of sleep then yah there might be a chance that they find you, or a ghoul does or a mole rat or whatever. But with the way FO and TES games handle time and sleep (where NPCs are paused) i dont know how they would figure out whether you die or not if the sleep deprivation system works the way i want it to work. Maybe with a % roll chance or something i dont know.
Is this being beta'd at this current moment?
I wanna start a new game but the incoming survival mode has got me by the balls.
Sleep deprivation is pretty severe. Even after 1 or 2 days w/o sleep you start hallucinating. Recall reading about cavalry raiders during the American Civil War, who would go raiding into enemy territory, but even after a couple of days w/o sleep (being constantly harrassed by enemy forces and all in theirr raiding attempts) they would start hallucinating, and just wanting to get back to friendly territory to get some sleep.
Not yet, IIRC, they said they planned on putting it in Beta between the first two DLCs, so we got a few weeks to go.
I, too, stopped playing while waiting for the update. I want to start fresh with it and hopefully by the time I get to a high enough level 'Far Harbor' will be released so I'll get to tackle that before I get over leveled.
Aside from that, it got me thinking...they have to add more Perks with some of the DLC, and I wonder how they will do it. I imagine it will be via Magazines, but I really hope that we have to select between a few of them instead of being able to take them all.
They never said that, actually.
I believe it will come around 15th of the month, when DLC is about to hit as well.
You know what, you're right. I'm thinking of the GECK that they mentioned would be released between the first two DLCs.
I am with you on all accounts. You can't have this save system in a game prone to freezing and crashing, plus the disintegration of your home life when you've been playing for 8 hours and you're wife is yelling at you that you have to get up for work in the morning and you're like "I JUST HAVE TO FIND A BED TO SLEEP IN OR I'LL LOSE 2 HOURS OF PROGRESS!"
The FT thing would be just an absolute bore and not fun. For those who think it's a great idea, just don't use fast travel, or add appropriate mods.
The companion death is a nice idea, but I also believe it just won't work. The AI is too dumb, plus you have companions that are essential to faction quests and the main storyline.
I couldn't get behind the companion ammo thing. All NPCs have infinite ammo unless you pick their pockets and that's how it should be. It's a gameplay feature to have to manage your own inventory, it's an annoyance to have to manage everyone else's inventory.
The Pip Boy light does give away your position (although, weirdly, bright headlamps on mining helmets and power armor seem to make it hard for NPCs to hone in on you even if they are very close by and looking in your direction). The radio can only be heard by the player.
Really happy Beth are doing this. Fallout 4 feelt very "casulalised" to me, but this more hardcoe approach gives me hope for the future. I think Gopher described it very well here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_37PdzmG5Ls
If they can make this survival mode without also bulletspoonging that would be really amazing.
I just wish they could throw in a Dead is Dead mode also while they are at it, with a kind of "museum" for your dead characters you can visit and see your old dead characters
I like survival to be an annoyance so you have to be prepared more and think about how much ammo you can afford to give companions. Of course it gonna lead to more inventory management and take away time from action adventure and explosion fun.
