New Survival Mode is for Everyone...

Post » Tue Mar 22, 2016 6:19 pm

Then he should've put it in the game since day 1 instead of forcing it on people who were playing on survival before and might not like the new changes.

In any case I think people are looking at this the wrong way, or at least are looking at it without considering that some of the new features instead of only adding challenge(?) to the current gameplay, also add immersion ie. eating/drinking/fatigue.

Some people might wanna take that immersion just for the sake of immersion and not for the added challenge, so locking these new additions on a specific difficulty setting is beyond stupid. At the end of the day it is extremely easy, and not at all time-consuming to create toggles for the new features. That way everyone gets to play how they want.

That would be kinda of a slap in the face, towards people who already play on survival mode, and like it just like that, don't you think? I am fully ok with that some people wants the "challenge" just let it be optional, a one time choice that stays for the rest of the game. That way, we can all be happy, and nobody have to swallow something being stuffed in their throat. But as said, it is really only the console users that is getting the short end of the stick for now. Remains to be seen, if they get allowance for mods that will tweak survival mode.

I don't think the new survival mode is going to be inconvenient or difficult enough for me to enjoy. I hope there will be mods that adds more inconveniences after the new survival mode is out.

Depends how much damage modification they have implemented.

If it is 300% of current game.. it could be super exciting indeed. haha

All discussions are welcome to me, but I just didn`t want to be labeled elitist. lol

Hardest difficulty of each game shall only be enjoyed by the most dedicated players for that game.

This is fact. Nothing elitist about it.

My concern with this statement is, aren't the higher difficulties of those other games basically just increasing already existing enemy statistics? I.e. hit points, accuracy, speed, etc..

With the new Survival mode, it is adding features. If it is a difficulty setting, then it is a concern. If it is a selection of options you select when starting a game, regardless of difficulty settings, that is different.

Personally, I would like it to be options added on to the difficulty, as much of it sounds like fun. I want to experience much of it. But, the save and fast travel restrictions are the largest difference. True, you can adjust your save settings currently, but removing fast travel is something you have to do on your own initiative.

No amount of knowledge, experience or understanding could prevent the game from crashing or glitching out before you get a chance to save after you spent an hour on one quest fighting a damage sponge boss that drops the legendary weapon of your dreams..... this does not make the game challenging, it makes the game un-playable. If there's no off toggle for sleep to save, I'm not even going to bother attempting survival mode. I'm ok with no fast travel and I wanted sleep and eating to have already been an optional feature which I'm sure it could have but they needed something to make future DLC seem like "theres so much more content".... but sleep to save in a glitch infested crash at random filled game is a no go for me....

also: I play already on survival difficulty so if they enforce these features on my already existing playthroughs without an option to turn off sleep to save, I'm going to be utterly pissed off and I will never trust Bethesda again.

Most games we also accept rule established in the game.

I don`t know how they will treat survival mode difficulty wise, but honestly speaking

I believe AUTO-SAVE function will NOT disappear.

and Vertibirds in later game is actually faster than fast travel.

...so Most people shouldn`t have problem. I do believe the developers are going right direction.

Yeah. I do believe people whom can easily beat hardest difficulty and enjoy the hello out of it are indeed most dedicated group for that game.

I don`t think they are elitist though. They are just having fun.

Yeah. Bethesda should put that in consideration in making the choice.

The elitism is visible in how it's discussed. It has nothing to do with dedication.

Chill. Those people have pride only as far as how they play a video game.

Let them feel superior with their [censored] length. Lol

I highly doubt if anyone feel superior about playing Bethesda RPG games.

...because it is extremely silly base on how easy their games are..and there is no standard of doing better.

Many kids will feel superior doing better in PvP and posting challenging stuffs on YouTube, but it`s their learning process to advlthood.

Some professional gamers earn 6 figures playing video games.. so I do think they can feel bit proud of their skills.

I really don`t think anyone really feels better or superior about playing FO4 better? in this forum though.

New Survival mode can be tried by everyone. Some might disappoint how the new mode has changed features, but I think most people won`t have problems adapting to it.

This, sadly, couldn't be more obvious.

The elitism isn't a function of gameplay or fun, or dedication. It is a function of discussion about the game. I consider myself both a dedicated and devoted player of this series. But I don't likewise consider myself superior to other players who play the games differently. For instance, I shun dupe exploits etc, but I don't care if others use them.

Many people engaging this issue in particular, however, observably do care. They seem, in fact, to pin much of their anticipated enjoyment of the mode as announced on the fact that other people aren't in favour of some of the specifics.

That's elitism, sir. You don't appear to be of that ilk, but please don't think you can simply tell me it's not happening. I have eyes to see and read with.

This is part of the difficulty in discussing the save changes--we don't know enough about how saving will work. Will there be Autosave? Based on the description of the mode, it doesn't sound like there will be. There won't be Pipboy Autosave, and I wouldn't expect Wait Autosave, or else the description wouldn't have said that you need to sleep to save your game. Fast-travel Autosave is obviously out since there won't be fast travelling. That just leaves Autosave on entering/exiting interiors, and I don't expect that to happen either (although I wouldn't object). If they're trying for an unbroken survival run from one sleep to the next, Autosave on cell loading would be too easy an exploit to get around it.

Will there be multiple save files for each sleep, or a single slot that gets overwritten? The latter would be a real deal-breaker, given the glitches that demand going back to an earlier save.

Just because some people belittling others during heated arguments don`t really make them elitist.

I think you are all worked about about the word 'dedication'

but I really think people are dedicated when they actually care about sleep/eating/and disease in a video game.

I don`t think PIP-BOY save function will be allowed,

but I believe Door-auto-save will still be available since it affects the battle minimum.

Leaked information said, QUICK SAVE & MANUAL SAVE are disabled. It probably wasn`t hard for them to say all Auto-saves are disabled if that was the case.

Look, I can tell English isn't your first language -- or if it is, well . . . well, if it is never mind.

I'm not worked up, and dedication was your word. But let's run with it . . .

I think you're wrong. I think the people you're trying to represent are dedicated to their self-esteem as gamers, irrespective of the game and certainly irrespective that it's Fallout or any Beth game at all. They want this game to be more like other games. Full stop. That's not dedication to a Beth game. It's dedication to themselves.

And that's perfectly fine. But let's not pretend it's something else entirely.
