A New RP

I strongly want Texas, water and food are hard to scavenge, making it a harder place, a real struggle. And it has a gulf if you really want a water supply.

Yeah ,but texas doesn't seem like a place where alot of stuff is going on. I really don't want to spend time in a desert with only a few buildings and that's about it.

Well I was thinking with Fallout's time line, there would be more people in Texas then there is now. Also the bombs mostly hit the west and east coast, Texas is big there's more likely to be stuff there than you think, it's not as desolate as you think. But the opionion of others matters, and if Jonas, Silly and DB don't like Texas ok

Yes ,but texas would have plenty of fallout because of winds and probaly a large amount of military bases which held nuclear weapons. I'm pretty sure we have missiles silos in Texas and that people would be moving west before the war is true through I would say that it'll just make the cities bigger and so their's still alot of space.

If you want coast and mountains Oregon would be a good idea. This would be BEFORE the BOS really got started anyway, and they started in Southern Cali so they shouldn't interfere in any manner. I always like desert so Texas would be rad, but someone stated that they were tired of dust and rocks so Oregon or Louisianna or Mississipi or Illinois or maybe the Carloinas (could have some kind of abolitionist vs slaver stuff going on)

Upon reading more on this Yttrium, I'll have to cast my vote for desert wateland. So, why not Texas? As long as I don't have to imagine everything with a southern accent. :stare:

No offence to any southeners. :P

Indeed.... :P

Three for Texas!

This is pretty cool so far. In the mean time, I will wait for Jonas and Yttrium to respond before I get carried away.

What we could do is set up the settlement around the Alamo, and make that the town hall?

Texas it is. And the Alamo isn't all that big, I don't like using historical locations... We could use it, but it would be just as good to pick some random ruins, near the gulf if you people want water easier.

Yes. I would prefer having the settlement take place in a generic location, away from any historical area. Now for environmental features, the settlers would need to place close to water, and some type of food source. Radioactive Greenhouse, anyone?

Perhaps the town could be on a plateau, for defense, by the coast like Athens, or in a valley, like Sparta? These could provide bonuses and challenges, depending on what is chosen.

Okay, I have questions

1. What are the character limits?

2. Is Jonas going to be the town leader?

3. What's going to be the time span of this RP?

4. How well will the characters know each other

EDIT: I like the plateau idea

1. What are the character limits?

What do you mean?

2. Is Jonas going to be the town leader?

Yes. And I don't appreciate the vote on where we'll be placed without my consent. (Not you DB)

3. What's going to be the time span of this RP?

A hell of a long time.

4. How well will the characters know each other

We'll meet up, the three of us who operate the RP will run the show.

EDIT: I like the plateau idea

We're thinking 3-6. If we get some dependable and good Rp'ers I'll change from 4-8.

Also, from now on, the three leaders (Silly Cat, Yttrium, and I) will convene decisions about the RP via PM's. Then we will address them to you guys for voting/debating.

If anyone has anything to say about this, feel free.

I believe your ideas should be posted here so we can all discuss them, and what do you guys mean by "Town Leader" the leaders of the town wouldn't be an individual but a group of people. That was my original intention, but if you guys want the town to be run by a mayor or dictator I have no objections to Jonas being the leader, but I thought people would be more involved if all us were the leaders.

I guess so, just recently I sent a PM to Jonasvault101. Honestly, I do not care whether or not there is a Leader, or a group of people making decisions. Of course, having a democracy can lead to problems, but as long as there is someone who kind of manages it all, (essentially a president) it would ease all of the problems, and give everyone an opportunity.

However, I am much more interested into developing other aspects of the RP. It would be easier to make the choice now and get over with it. :P

Works for me.

Of course, with the consent and approval of Jonas....

Now, in order to make this post not too big of a waste, have you considered my ideas about geographical features surrounding the town? (Coastal, Plateau, Valley, Cave, etc.)

Also, the three of us still have to agree upon a location for starters.

I was thinking of having it on a Plateau, my original idea. But of course water would easier to get on the coast, it would be extremely hard to get from any other location. A cave seems like a hard place to build a city, more of a nomad thing. Valley would be ok, but I think Plateau would be best the defend able location, while a coastal city would have an easier start.

I agree the Jonas has absoulute power but, still I think we should find some ruins to build our town on. I was thinking of a small city or a place that wasn't magerly hit like recommended St. Augustine in Florida. dfs87

Due to the fact that Fallout is a couple years into the future there would be more towns, we wouldn't have to be in a real location, we wouldn't even have to name the original town. It could be just ruins on a plateau(if we decide on that location). And though Jonas has given us the final word to were the town is, I'm still strong for Texas.

Ah, well guess we were thinking alike. Of course, with explaining, it would be possible for the settlers to build some sort of aqueduct, or perhaps dig a well, and get water that way. It's also possible for them to find a nearby lake, or river.

One thing that kept on sticking on was if they are in Texas (Assuming we would be in Texas) would be Oil. It would be a valuable resource, and could be used to power things, and possible get some vehicles running.

Upon second thought, the cars were nuclear powered, unless they came across much older oil consuming vehicles. Still, the oil could be used to power old generators, start fires, and use as a trap/defensive barrier. :P
