New to the world of Fallout

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:01 am

Hey, i have had fallout 3 for a while but lost it for a month or 2 before playing it. I recently found it and started installing it and i have a few questions that involve gaming tips and other generic stuff.

first things first: I need a basic rundown of the game since i can't find the manual that came with it. I am looking for it right now.

Edit: Found it, buried under my other games.

it's brother for further notice. I'm on the PC, should i experience the game fully than mod, or start modding right away? I don't have any DLCs and i am probably going to get the GOTY edition for christmas this year. (one of the 3 things i asked for)

Thanks for the welcome :)

no for windows live , vats is dependent on weapons and if u get goty dnt use it in point lookout more than 3 times or it crashes, full screen and as for cheat button dunno as im a noob on pc as i play mainly on ps3 but for mods you need to download the geck from the fallout 3 official website

OK, more questions : Should i join windows live? Absolutely not, but thats my personal opinion.
How often should i use vats? When ever you like/when feeling overwhelmed
is full screen more fun than windowed? Yes
what is the cheat key? i want to remove it from my keyboard If you don't know, you probably won't touch it and you still have an intact keyboard
How can i remove a keyboard key? Pry it out with a screwdriver

I read about the SPECIALs do those matter or are they just there to help with your skills and stats?

OK. So i shouldn't pay too much attention to them. Is it Perks and Skills i should really focus on?

The manual tells you what they do and has also a perklist up to level 20. Take your pick.

Combat is pretty dominant in the game so there's a point to put some focus on.

So many perks seem helpful with combat. Might be tough picking between them. Could i get an example build you would use for a newb? i don't like learning i put too many in one SPECIAL, skill or perk the hard way.

Really? I finally have a PC that works with FO3 again and my GOTY is on it's way in a truck right now from Amazon. I don't use VATS much anymore but that's too bad. Is this happening to everyone? I played my old vanilla game all weekend and had great fun with it and can't wait for the DLCs to come. I love PL that makes me so sad. My 360 version is so perfect.

Don't ruch with completing the game. ;) Main questline is pretty short imho, you better enjoy the big world of possibilities and feel the world of Capital Wasteland. Just you know, be part of the world.

Normal should offer quite good difficulty for a starter, though I'd recommend Hard.
